Ok, so me and my friends are having a competition. We all are using either blue or red, and starting over from scratch. We wanna see who can get the best 6 pokemon and then duel eachother over pokemon stadium.

The thing is, we took out all the really cheap pokemon, legendary birds, Mewtwo, Mew... arn't allowed to be picked. Now one friend picked Alakazam. I DONT KNOW HOW TO BEAT IT!

It has amazing speed and amazing special, so it usually Always goes first and pretty much one hits you. It was recover which makes it more amazing, and its only real weakness is BUG type attacks. The only bug type attack in the whole stupid game is STRING SHOT!!! So I need advice on how to kill his Alakazam.

PS I was thinking this for my final 6.
    Charizard
    Starmie
    Nidoking
    Jolteon
    Pincer
    Jynx or Gengar

Any suggestions? Pincer is bug pokemon but has no bug attacks and etc.

    Alakazam

    Please help, THANKS!

Unfortunately, Alakazam is rather hard to beat in that generation.

The only bug moves available in R/B/Y that deal damage are:-

Pin Missile (Pw 18 2-5 hits)(Learnt by Beedril and Jolteon)
Twinneedle (Pw 30? 2 hits, may Poison)(Only learnt by Beedrill)

So in conclusion don't bother with bug moves

As few pokemon can beat the awesone speed of Alakazam that aren't legendaries in that generation, you must out-tank it or out-damage it.

Theres a few ways you could beat it. These are only ideas not failsafe methods.

1/ If it doesn't have Subsitute or Reflect up, you could use Electrode and try Exploding.
2/ You could use Slowbro and rely on Ammesia, resting up when your pokemon is low on HP, as back then Special Attack and Special Defense were just one stat...Special
3/ A pokemon like Snorlax may be able defeat Alakazam

Pokemon that will frustate 'Zam(with right moveset): Lapras(tough as nails), Exeggutor(resistant), Chansey(massive HP and good Special), Mr. Mime(resistant), Slowbro(tough and resistant), Starmie (resistant).

I'm don't claim to be a professional thro. Take all I say with a pinch of salt.

Okay, let me go over your "final" 6-7

    Charizard
Starmie (Good pokemon overall, personal opinion is have Recover)
Nidoking (Decently powered, but can't really stand up to much)
Jolteon (Good stats and excellent speed but suffers from a horrible move set)
Pincer (Never ever used him back then)
Jynx (Fragile somewhat)or Gengar (Never used one, so I can't judge)

Most likely didn't help much, but I hope it did...

Thanks a lot Soulflame. That advice really did help out :)
I was thinking. On the website (pokemondungeon) it says Jolteon has better speed then Alakazam. What if I were to Thunderwave him. The paralyze would help, but it would be luck when it all came up. So from there I need a list of STRONG attacks that would be able to take Alakazam? Any ideas?

Any other advice or reccomendations would be awesome guys! Thanks everyone

Thunderwave would take away his speed advantage which would be crippling. Jolteon would be good for the job and a good Thunderbolt will still hurt Alakazam decently. Electrode is faster, but generally cannot pack as much of a punch (Unless you make it go boom). If you can, if the pokemon you send out has a decent attack stat, use a non-fighting physical move. They will deal the most damage. Thro if you use Joltewon...stick with its electric moves as Jolteon's Special is actually suprisingly close to Alakazam's

I'm not sure if this rule still applies in the Metal Generation but.. Rain Dance+Thunder. Having rain dance working causes Thunder to have 100% accuracy. If Jolteon has a decent Sp. Att is could deliver some vital blows and kill the alakazam
