Need Help!!

I am making my pokemon orange version game, (See the thread in this board.) and since pokemoncharacters are so small, it looks like they walk two spaces every step. I cant find a good way to fix this. If any1 has come across this problem and/or knows how to fix it, tell me PLEASE!! Thanks
