my brother wanted to play my emerald, so he did, then he gave it back to me because he didnt like it, so now i've started a new game and got a torchic and a taillow right now, but i dont know what other pokemon i should catch in my journey, so can anyone help a brotha?
these are the pokemon i want:
    torchic
a flying type (better than taillow)
a phychic type (i like solrock and havent used him yet)
    a water type (?????)
a grass type (mabye shroomish, i dont know)
    a rock, ground, or both(uhhhhhhh....)
so can anyone help a brotha?

You'll get more help in GB Strats and Movesets so I'll move it over there.

Well, you won't get any serious help from me, that's for sure, until you decide on a team. You're lucky to be a member of a forum that doesn't have a specific 'RMT' section. Otherwise, what you posted there would be against the rules. But seriously, are you so unoriginal that you can't even come up with a team yourself? You'll find I usually refer to originality as a bad thing in pokemon, due to most people having no idea how to make a proper moveset, but you can't come up with your own team? That's just plain sad.

Here. I'll help you for a brief moment. Starmie fills your 'requirements' for both Psychic and Water. You could also use Ludicolo and Gardevoir to fill the roles of Psychic, Water, and Grass. For your Rock type, Aggron does reletively well with a good moveset, however, that moveset probably isn't what you're looking for.

no, i just get tired of using the same pkmn over and over again, so i thought to use this forum and some trainers who might know what pkmn to catch, christ!

This is just what I think but I would get a swablu to cover your need for a flying and just level it up into altaria. For your phychic solrock should do just fine. For your water I would go out and find a wailmer/wailord or you could go and catch a barboach(Meteor falls) which is a water ground and level it up into a Wishcash(not sure 'bout spelling). He's basically a swampert with a slightly worse move pool. For the grass type I would defenitely recommend shroomish, and once he becomes a breloom(grass and fighting type) he will be a valuable asset to your team. For rock/ground, if you or a friend has fire red/leaf green you could convince them to catch you a larvitar(Rock&Ground and he's found at Sevault canyon on seven island). From there since he has a high attack and defense and can learns much better moves than aggron he is a more versatile pokemon. I would pick him and spend the time to level him up into tyranitar. Yes, he is used very commonly but you can't argue with results. Anyway, I know that someone is gonna come along and disagree with what I posted so whatever. It's your choice and you asked for advice, so here it is. Hope this helps.

I really don't see why it even matters for the 8 main gyms and E4. All you need is at least 3 Pokemon with a level advantage everytime. Tailow/Swellow, your starter, and any 3rd Pokemon will do fine.

As for the new Battle Frontier stuff, I don't know if 3 Pokemon would be enough since I don't have Emerald. But the rest of the game sounds the same to me besides the Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza thing.

So you need help with building a team? Let's see...

a flying type: Skarmory, the best physical wall in the game and part of the famous Skarmbliss combo. Salamence, the half flying, half dragon typed pokemon, many people's favorite. Altaria, if you want an UU Dragon Dancer which has the advantage that it can Natural Rest. Swellow might work well, if you want a good choice banding flying type, but Dodrio is a much better choice bander than Swellow.

a psychic type: Solrock and Lunatone, the UU psychic pokemons, Solrock the physical one and Lunatone the special one. Gardevoir and Alakazam are more often used and seem to be much better. Espeon might be a good choice as well.

a water type: Most of them (Sharpedo, Wailord, Whiscash, Crawdaunt, etc.) don't have very good stats and movepool. Like Charactarantula suggested, Azumarill is a good UU water pokemon. Starmie and Swampert are too often used, so if you want to be original, then use Azumarill.

a grass type: Breloom is great because he can learn Spore (well, actually Shroomish learns it, but you can evolve it on lv.51, too anyway...). I suggest to use him.

a ground type: Donphan and Claydol are great Rapid Spinners and can take a few physical hits. If you don't want to use Skarmory as your flying type, maybe use one of them then in your team. Flygon is another choice: he has great stats and movepool and covers most teams quite well.

a rock type: One of my favorite rapid spinner / rock blaster, Armaldo could be a good choice. If you don't want to use him, then maybe use Rhydon.

    I guess that should help.

a flying type: welp, try ninjask or crobat, give em toxic, mean look, and whatever else heh decimate all, well just about all
a psychic type: alakazam, gardevoir, sol/lun, be like me and go metagross lol
a water type: um you could try a tricked out golduck or a tentacruel, those are mean if you do em right
a grass type: i'd say go with vileplume or shiftry, get em with sunny day heh
a rock, ground: go with flygon, ground/dragon w/levitate = deady lol

i've thought about it, and this will be it:
fire/fighting:blaziken (i've already got him, anyway)
    water/grass:ludicolo
    phychic/rock:solrock
    ground/dragon:flygon(also use him for flying)
electric:manetric (a.k.a, the only good electric type in the game, i guess.)
ummmmm.....uhhhhh..... i still have no idea what my 6th pokemon should be, though.

Ingame you need no Rapid Spinners/Walls/Stallers or Annoyers cause they are luck bound...All you really need is Sweepers for the whole game
    a flying typeDodrio
    a phychic type Alakazam
    a water type Lanturn/Starmie
    a grass type Sceptile
a rock, ground, or both Flygon
What you have now will do fine but take out Manetric
and put a Pikachu/Raichu in there..
