Need Pokemon Hacking Help Please Help

Okay guys i am currently hacking Pokemon Emerald Version GBA rom. I managed to add in a new Pokemon Successfully using one of the free spaces available in the rom. However when i go and capture the Pokemon my game goes blank. How do i fix this? I am pretty sure it is something to do with the Pokemon not being added into the Pokedex. Is there anyway i can add a new Pokemon slot onto the Pokedex?
