Need Some Help

I would like to know if someone could teach me how to use Adobe Photoshop CS4, I have a bit of Experience in Photoshop, but I've never known how to do cool stuff, like add border, or make cool looking effects and what not, and add cool text or Add Cool Stuff with the text and what not or how to delete the background off of am image I use or how to do scool stuff like on my Avatar the little pink thing under my text, so if someone could teach me some stuff, I'd appreciate it.
