Need to talk to some people about a game idea I've been planning for the past 3 years

Why don't you just post it here, then endless people could give you feedback...?

This is going to be a pretty lengthy post... Well the game is going to be either called School Brawl or Fight Academy, as the title(s) suggests it's going to be a fighting game set in a school. It's set in a post-apocalyptic Britain (date not specified, but sometime in the future), what happened was 20 years before there was the General Election and a new party came into power. They had really, really big apirations and they wanted to make Britain have an empire again so they started producing bio-weapons and new weapons, China became interested in the new weapons and Britain and China had a deal so that they would only sell their new weapons to China. (I'll get to the main stuff in a bit, I'm just setting the time period) After a while the british and chinese armies went into Canada, Australia and New Zealand and took control of them. The US suddenly became interested in the weapons and to set a good example to the rest of the world became allies with Russia (who were also interested in the weapons) to go to war with Britain and China. Well the war ends with London being destroyed, the royal family killed, the weapons being lost and "all" the members, benefactors and supporters of the party killed. (Anything before this is not set in stone yet) Due to the war, there was many orphans across the country, and they had to have a presidential election because of the royal family's death. Well a president is elected and his friend DJ Thompson (the main villain) decides that he's going to create schools all around the country for the orphans to live in and to aid in the country's recovery. The president being pleased with the idea decides to give him funding for it and the schools are built. What the preisdent doesn't know however is that DJ Thompson was a supporter of the party who came into power just before the war, and has similar ideals, with his group situated all over the world (The Teachers Union) he uses the schools to train children to become soldiers in his group.

Jump forward 15 years and it shows his schools are thriving and that the Teachers Union is still mostly unheard of, it shows the 7 main characters Nate, James, Caldridge, Kyle, Ant, Jim and Dean moving into a house that Ant bought as he owns a multi million pound business along with Dean and another character Wade. They've been transfered from another of DJ Thompson's schools to the main one where all the best students go and where the Teachers Union's main headquarters is. It shows them moving in and getting used to the town, and beginning at their new school. During their first week (which isn't really important for the plot) they here about a tag-team fighting tournament and decide to enter depending on who you choose to play as depends on who your partner is and it basically serves as a tutorial, after the fighting tournament, they witness the death of another student at the hands of a teacher, they tell some other people and they just think that they're trying to get attention and ignore it so you have to prove that it happened, they prove it and they decide to investigate into what's going on as they're told that occasionaly a student disappears from time to time without a trace so they decide to find out what's going on, killing teachers and travelling around the world along the way.

If you want to know anything else post what you want to know and I'll answer it in another post.

this doesn't go here just so you know it should go in creative discussion game development the drawing board

You should consider investing in paragraphs.

Also nobody seriously plays a fighting game for the story (Because they're unanimously terrible), it's far more important to get a solid set of mechanics down and maybe character designs that aren't awful or something.

So.. Looked it over, but didnt read it. You need to add some paragraphs or most people will not be willing to read it. Right now it looks like a clumsy mess.

I know that nobody plays a fighting game for the story but I decided from the start that it was going to have a solid story and all but one of my mates agrees. I've already sorted out what the mechanics and controls are going to be (It will be for PS3 and Xbox 360 so pretty much the same) and I'm currently deciding the characters movesets, specials and role in the story. And writing the complete plot, sorting out all the subquests and locations, and deciding all the boss fights and standard enemies.

I'm sorry...but you're 14 and planning to make your own Xbox 360/PS3 game? And announcing your plans to do so on a Pokemon forum? I think you might want to hold off until you get a college education and a job at a game developer. :/

Besides, this doesn't belong here, and it really doesn't belong in Game Dev either.
Locked.
