Ah, back in the day, when Pokemon and Digimon were popular, around the time I was in 5th and 6th grade, there were always arguments about which "mon" was better. I had a friend who was a Digimon fanatic, and I was, of course, a Pokemon fan. Many a lunch period we spent arguing which was better. I always imagined an army of Pokemon fighting an army of Digimon, and this character sort of evolved as the Caesar of a PokeRome, so to say.
Eventually, as Digimon became less popular, that idea fused with my in-game character, since I had been using the same Pokemon in every game (trading them over) and the same in-game name as well (still do to this day). I've never lost a battle to another real person in well over 1000 matches, I even won a regional tournament back in the day. So, the idea of conquering Digimon ended up transforming my wandering Pokemon trainer into a sort of conquer himself (this time regions instead of other animes, lol).
I'm also a Star Trek fan (well...this new movie jaded me, but back then all was peachy), and I always imagined a sort of high-tech Pokemon utopia. That idea ended up meshing with all those rumors that existed back then about "secret" areas in RBY. These things came together in what I called Cloud Mew, a flying nation-state flying high on a cloud above the Pokeworld, that was both a Pokemon and social utopia all organized around Pokemon battles, with the leader (my trainer) as the world's foremost authority of Pokemon battling--The Mewstor.
This idea has evolved over the years to become the stablizing force in the Pokemon world. A military and Pokemon superpower that acts as a peacekeeper in the Pokeworld to keep nations in that world from fighting, instead resolving disputes through Pokemon battling, holding a yearly super-elite tournament for all the world's trainers--the Cloud Cup. (Logical considering your NPC spends his journey beating the heck out of street gangs and fighting in Pokemon competitions).
Farfetched, sure, but I was in 6th grade, and in a world with Pokemon, nothing is all that crazy.
The new version I just penned is updated significantly from the old. I'm a Roman history buff, so I updated my character to look more like a proper imperial leader.
