It is a weird hat, that's for sure.

At first, I thought Brendan had two-toned hair, like Eugene Chaud from MegaMan Battle Network.

Yeah and so did I dude. That's why alot of fan drawings depicted Brenden wearing a head band with white hair.

Hi. Not a new member or anything, but the Pokemon Special character is an alternate version of Brendan named Ruby. Ruby, let me emphasize, is NOT Brendan. There is a significant difference. May's alter-ego is called Sapphire, and, likewise, they are NOT the same person.

Ruby has the white cloth-hat and black hair only. This is an official fact. It has not been stated whether or not the same holds true for Brendan, so he can have either white, black, or dichrome hair depending on your preference. Heck, if you look at the original Ruby and Sapphire art, you can't even see any hair underneath Brendan's headband! You can only see a hint of dark hair in the Emerald art.

-_- I'm confused now... so, the white part isn't hair? well I don't care, I hate Ruby/Brendad

Yo!! I already knew that the Pokemon Special character Ruby is an alternate character!! ^_^ And Sapphire has the tooth that sticks out which makes her different from Haruka/May!! :P If you notice Ruby/Brendan's Sprite in R/S/E, when a Pokemon Battle begins, you can see his black hair under the white hat (when he throws that Poke Ball)!! And thank you very much for the info, Goddra2!! :D

Here is a pic from the Pokemon Adventures Manga (pic from Bulbagarden) with Ruby taking his hat of, and three back view Sprites from Ruby, and one from Emerald, showing his black hair (seen better in the Emerald Sprite): https://s161.photobucket.com/albums/t233/Shadow_Chaos00/Favorites/?action=view&current=Ruby.png

What I was saying is the character in the games is NOT Ruby, he's Brendan, and the character in the manga is NOT Brendan, he's Ruby.

Ruby has monochrome black hair. Period. He get's it from Norman, who's his dad.

Brendan, on the other hand, can have, black, white, or both colors of hair, since it is NOT specified that his headband is actually a hat. And while we're on the subject, in the Anime he ought to be Prof. Birch's son, because Norman is May's dad.

Okay, rant's over now. Go about your business.

Alright now that whole topic is over with me, lets move on to something else? Who here can tell me on how you guys discovered Pokesho in the first place?

Hello, Shinji here.
I was on 4chan and I found a Pokesho picture
[PokeCommunity.com] Neo Pokesho Fanclub

Sad to see Yamato-san gone, Crystal Clair's mentioned him a few times. She had a few problems with him before because he was snobby to her but she still thinks he was the best contributer becasue he's emailed Soara once or twice and has posted on the oekakis.

Wait did soara drew that picture of May?
It sure looks like he did. The style matches and everything. Crystal Clair's taught me his style and now we can both recognize many different variations of it.
Except that one Gardevoir took us off guard.

How I 1st discover Pokesho, is that four years ago I was looking for some Pokemon fanarts until I've stumble upon this thread that they were posting screen caps from this very old Pokesho game in which you create your own scenery by using various characters from the anime. Then, the users posted some of the earlier avys artwork on the same thread and I just simply amazed of the artist in which I didn't realized his name is actually Soara.

Then I've right clicked the link from one the avys to see the source of it and I went to this link;

https://soara.fc2web.com/poke.htm

From then on, I was amazed of all the stuff Soara drew throughout these 4 years, and that is how I gotten into Pokesho in the 1st place! ^_^

Ruby/Brendan's hair is black; in fact, in the Pokemon Manga, it is revealed that his hair is the same as his father's, Senri/Norman!! :P The white stuff is just the top part of his hat!!

Wow...so it's a real hat with glossy white stuff? What a weird fashion design...

And all this time I thought he had white hair, and I used to think how is that possible...

He's doing damn good with Hinata/Solana. I imagine what Arbok is looking at in that last pic. But looks like what she's wearing is too, too tight on her.

Yeah, now I see that hat thingy, it's not real hair at all.

Ok somethings weird is going on at Pokesho because in the index page, it only leads to the forums and the images on the front page don't work either.

Edit: Nevermind, it seems that Soara fixed it so its up again.

Re: Brendan/Ruby
Yes, different continuities. Different characters? Maybe. It's hard to say, since the playable characters in the main Pokémon games never get much characterization to them (since they're supposed to be an avatar of YOU, hence why you can name them whatever, and why the Pokémon Trainer in Brawl is unnamed). Ruby is one artist's interpretation of of the male Trainer of the third generation of games. But an official interpretation, though. Does it necessarily mean the game's version of this character shares the same hair style as the Special character? Who knows. Making an officially licensed comic series, he (she? I dunno if "Hidenori Kusaka" is male or female... Dunno what constitutes as masculine/feminine names in Japanese... And even then, you may not know the truth) probably has access to all sorts of character art sketches and stuff to represent the characters properly.

Re: Pokésho for the first time
Uh... not entirely sure. I think I found it through the Pokémon Defenders guild over at Gaia Online (shut up).
