I thought Netscape was over when Mozilla began to gain popularity. I suppose it did, in terms of whether people actually used it. Netscape isn't officially gone though, it's just called FireFox now.

Aww, Netscape brings back such memories though. It was the first internet browser I ever used. ♥

Then again, I remember switching to IE as soon as I discovered it, so I guess it can't have been that great, not to mention it was just a bulky version of Firefox/Mozilla in its later years. :\ Good to see they're just giving up on it completely.

They should open-source Netscape completely!

Netscape's death is like that of an old, suffering creature which has finally been laid to rest... Of course, likewise, some elderly people are forgotten as they near death, but that doesn't mean they're not alive anymore...
Ok, ignoring that, it was about time, and netscape's current browsers aren't that special anyway. And it's AOL, which strained as much money they could get out of the broken filter that was the Netscape brand, but now that it's far beyond repair, they're letting the tea leaves slowly fall into the cup and taint it, unattended, for eternity.

(The name) "Netscape" has been virtually "dead" since Micro$oft monopolized their way to victory in the first browser war years ago.
