I have recently started a new game. I am getting ready to get my 2nd badge now. Anyways, thats not what I am asking about. I have Dustox, and hes lvl 11. I thought to myself, is she even worth building up? Will it ever be of any use?

No. Bug types (not named Heracross) just aren't worth your time, especially the weak three generation species that seem to be in EVERY generation of Pokemon.

There are just too many better alternatives.

Alright, thank you. I was kind of thinking the same thing. They are even slow to level, and then I can't find many good uses for it either.

Yes bug types are useful. For Tate & Liza in Mossdepp City. The 1st elite 4 member he has dark types. Very good for that Shiftry. Team Magma or team Aqua's dark type Mightyena's or Sharpedo's.

Ummm, no. Medicharm, Hariyama, and especially Blaziken are much more effective against Dark-types, with Medi practically sweeping the E4 by itself. Again, there are just too many better alternatives. The only quality Bug-type is Heracross. The others are good Pokedex filler.

Yes but Shiftry has extrasensory and that will probably knock them out. But Heracross is the best you are right.

I have never had a problem with Shiftry. If you are worried about that, Shiftry is also weak against Flying, Ice, and Poison. Grass/Dark just isn't a great combination.
