I've probably had this account for a few weeks but life became busy for me so I didn't have the time to introduce myself properly until now but hi, I'm GummiBerryJuice (my username is inspired by the Gummy Bears theme song from the late 80s cartoon :) ). I've been playing Pokemon for a long time (since the origina r/b/y came out) and my first Pokemon game was Yellow but I have the biggest soft spot for the second gen games (including their remakes). I think it's because I was going through a rough time when I got Gold and Silver as a christmas present in 2000ish (Parents were going thru a divorce) and yeah, let's just say I spent most of my time playing Pokemon Silver (I did play Gold a lot too but I played Silver a little more). To this day, I have my original Silver team ported up to Alpha Sapphire where they've stayed since I beat Alpha Sapphire.
If anyone's wondering what my favorite Johto starter is, it's the absolute underdog, Chikiorita. Many of my classmates back in 5th grade said that Chikorita was a weakling and the absolute worst Johto starter but I proved them wrong when I beat their butts with my Meganium's Earthquake/SolarBeam/Body Slam/Synthesis combo. Of course I still had other Pokemon to cover Meganium's weaknesses (Togetic/Togekiss--evolved Togetic when I ported them all the way up to Diamond/Platinum, Lugia, Scizor--traded as a Scyther between Diamond and Soul Silver once I ported it to Diamond/Platinum, Ampharos, Quagsire, a shiny tentacruel, a dragonite i got in dragon's den in crystal, umbreon, the shiny gyarados from Lake of Rage, and a houndoom and tyranitar that one of the guys who thought i was "stupid" for choosing and liking Chikorita as my starter gave me--he was impressed with how I arranged my team's movesets and utilized all of my Pokemon). I know I have like 11 pokemon listed as a team but honestly throughout my original play through of Silver, I would switch out my Pokemon if I felt like I needed a specific Pokemon type to help with the next gym battle and I was able to raise the Tyranitar and Houndoom from an early level because the dude who gave them to me asked me what nicknames I wanted for them. I was only like 5 badges in and he was raising and breeding his favorite team. So yeah, I got to use them half way through my johto journey (it sucks that you can't get a larvitar or a houndour until late game, esp since they were introduced in gen 2, not gen 1....).
Yeah, sorry for the long introduction and me rambling about Gen 2. And before anyone asks, no I don't think Gen 2 is the best gen or is better than all the other gens. I just have a soft spot for 2nd gen due to all the good memories i have of it.
