Well, I just wanted to start a discussion on how much the new kinds of moves are going to affect battle as the majority of us know it.

Here's the link to all of the new ones: https://serebii.net/diamondpearl/attacks.shtml

I think a lot of the "Double-Power-If" attacks are silly, but I wonder how many of them will be effective afterall. On the otherhand, moves like Grass Rope will be awesome. Aragon explained it to me and it'll probably be of great use in some battles.

I'm a little upset by the lack of new Ice-type moves. There are only 3 new ice-type moves and all of them are physical, and not that strong for that matter. The most promising one is Snow Slide which doubles power from 60 only if the user get's hit first. The only pokemon this will probably be helpful for is Yukinooh, who brings the initial 60 power up x1.5 (90) because of its ability, Snowstorm and has a lower speed.

It goes without saying that bugs will be awesome in D/P. Watch out for my Venomoth!!

Same goes for rock types. Kabutops is going to own. Still a little upset that Solrock doesn't learn Psycho Cutter when it clearly has the sharpness.

Roserade = dangerous. A lot of the new grass pokemon are not to be reckoned with, especially Yukinooh. I'm definitely gonna get me one of those sexy things.

I think all those new stat-switching/changing psychic moves are going to be what change battling the most. The only problem is that I doubt people are going to be as daring to try them out.

Dark pokemon are finally going to be scary XD. The majority of them are physically built, so that distinction will work out well aside new moves like Blade Test and Ambush. The only problem is that none of them are naturally above the base power of 80, which sucks. There will obviously have to be some stronger Dark type moves in the following generations.

I also think there are a lot of unnecesary normal type *physical* moves. I still don't think that'll change how much people will be using normal types in battle.

    This should be sticked XD
Anyways, i don't have a problem with the moves. they made them more powerful for every Pokemon so nothing really changed at all when it comes to the moves.

    Yeah, its a great discussion...

And yeah, theres a ton more good moves. All those bomb types (Pusle bomb and whatever) are like 80 or 90 power, and cannot miss or have high crit. hit ratios....
It should be a diff game entirely, and the attack/special attack change will help that. It seems pretty cool, i can't wait to try it out.

All these new moves were crammed in to me so we have a lot of useless attacks running about like Quick Attack wannabes (i.e palette punch)

The 2x power if/ depends on... moves are useless except for Gyro Ball, but thats only for the extremely slow pokemon

I really like the Time Roar/Space Break attacks, i'm just gonna go out on a limb and say these attacks are exclusive to Diaruga/Dialga and Parukia/Palkia respectively? They really look like destructive moves =P

I like Magma Storm Because it is like a suped up Fire Spin I also like Double Headbutt it is yet another addition to the beat the crap outta you and beat the crap outta me moves.the only one out of the command moves (Exe.Restore,Defence, and Attack)because it's base power is 90 and it has a high crit. hit ratio (talk about a powered up leaf blade). What is up with Bug Devour effect depends on foes held berry? Also what the **** is up with Judgment Pebble Type depends on plate held?Grass Rope is like a grass type Low Kick.Stealth Rock is like spikes. Now WTF is up with Entice lowers oppsite gender foe's SP.ATK 2 levels.I like the looks of Stone Edge A totally powered up Leaf Blade it has 100 base power with a high crit. hit ratio.I like Iron Head it is like a powered up headbutt.I will totally teack Dust Shoot wenever I can 120 Base power maay poison the foe!they made a lot of 1st turn att 2nd turn reacharge moves. Also they made a lot of 140 ase power lowers users SP.ATK 2 levels.

I have to agree, all these new moves help my team so much better now, Here are my favourite new moves:

Feather Rest (Yay, For Charizard, Now he doesn't have to rest to get HP back)
Ice Fang (My Steelix now has a super effective move against those annoying fire types!)
Flare Drive AND Brave Bird ( Both STAB for my Awesome Blaziken! thats 150 Power, mwahahaha)
Rock Cart (Helps my slow Steelix get faster!)
    Luster Cannon (Good Powerful Move)

Yeah there good moves but the problem with Brave Bird And Flare Drive, is that they give damage to my blaziken after it hits, so i only use it if its a guaranteed kill!

Also what the **** is up with Judgment Pebble Type depends on plate held?

This is a move that ONLY Aruseus can learn, Aruseus can change his type depending on an item that he holds and there happens to be 16 or something Plates, which if Aruseus gets one his type turns to the type respective to the plate he is holding, If he's not holding a plate as an item, he type is normal.

Also, I disagree with swearing, and this is also a childrens forum so i'd ixnay on the swearinga. (hehe)

I would just say take off Judgment Pebble for a better Move cause I would rather slap Leftovers on `em and sorry for swearing.

UMM ice fang is NOT super effective against fire types. ice is .5 damage x fire types, rather 2X. thunder fang is your best bet, but there's really no use with a steelix when you can teach it both ground AND rock moves, which fire types are definitely weak against.

also, you DO NOT get STAB for Brave Bird with Blaziken. blaziken is a bird, sure, but it isn't a flying type.

oh, one move that i'm really looking forward to abusing is Tail Wind. also, Luster Cannon sounds exciting on Empeleon.

Man I guess if you get used to the system then everybody will prefer D/P for better moves and such.

Omg, *Paranoia slaps himself for his stupidity* although i really did think that Ice was super effective but its the other way around!

Also i keep think that because Blaziken is a bird it gets STABBED flying moves, but alas the world is to cruel, ahwell 120 power is still good.

The plates are useful in Ubers cause they change Aresus' type in the first place and you have to keep them on for his ability to change him to the type held.

A dark judgement pebble is extremely powerful in ubers btw

Well I thought that it was only to change the type of that move sorry XD!
    o_O

yeah, with judgement pebble, it's like having an earthquakequivalent of any AND every type. and since it will be the type of the plate it holds, it will always get STAB with Judgement Pebble.

besides, that's not the only move aruseus can learn. that thing makes me a little pissy... XD

Aruseus can learn every move though, I think besides Palkia he's the only Uber i'll ever use.

Well, i always liked Venasaur so i'm wondering how effective grass rope will be.. will it be effective enough for people to start using light weight pokemon? Energy ball, Seed Bomb and Petal Dance look to be solid grass moves although Petal Dance could work against you with its side effect of confusion.. Energy ball with the -sp.def against enemy could be helpful. I'll say the move that looks sexiest to me is Leaf Storm.. Yeah it's -2 sp.def.. but with the 140 attack, stab, and in certain situations even overgrow.. it's just sexy. Grass rope may be the better choice though, since Sludge Bomb is now a special move.. so a special saur can actually take advantage of stab with sludge bomb now.

    possible moveset?

    Venasuar@ Lefties

    evs: 252hp/96def/44sp.att/118sp.def
    -leech seed
    -sleep powder
-sludge bomb/good ol' HP Ice HP Fire
    -grass rope/energy ball/leaf storm

Still the same weakness against Skarms and Mences though. HP Ice helps a bit otherwise sleep power for skarms which are slower, and switch the hell out against mences.

Actually, Aruseus can't learn every move, if you check Serebii. And there is really no such thing as a Pogey that can learn every move anyway.
