Well, I just wanted to start a discussion on how much the new kinds of moves are going to affect battle as the majority of us know it.
Here's the link to all of the new ones: https://serebii.net/diamondpearl/attacks.shtml
I think a lot of the "Double-Power-If" attacks are silly, but I wonder how many of them will be effective afterall. On the otherhand, moves like Grass Rope will be awesome. Aragon explained it to me and it'll probably be of great use in some battles.
I'm a little upset by the lack of new Ice-type moves. There are only 3 new ice-type moves and all of them are physical, and not that strong for that matter. The most promising one is Snow Slide which doubles power from 60 only if the user get's hit first. The only pokemon this will probably be helpful for is Yukinooh, who brings the initial 60 power up x1.5 (90) because of its ability, Snowstorm and has a lower speed.
It goes without saying that bugs will be awesome in D/P. Watch out for my Venomoth!!
Same goes for rock types. Kabutops is going to own. Still a little upset that Solrock doesn't learn Psycho Cutter when it clearly has the sharpness.
Roserade = dangerous. A lot of the new grass pokemon are not to be reckoned with, especially Yukinooh. I'm definitely gonna get me one of those sexy things.
I think all those new stat-switching/changing psychic moves are going to be what change battling the most. The only problem is that I doubt people are going to be as daring to try them out.
Dark pokemon are finally going to be scary XD. The majority of them are physically built, so that distinction will work out well aside new moves like Blade Test and Ambush. The only problem is that none of them are naturally above the base power of 80, which sucks. There will obviously have to be some stronger Dark type moves in the following generations.
I also think there are a lot of unnecesary normal type *physical* moves. I still don't think that'll change how much people will be using normal types in battle.
