4th Gen "NEW" Pokemon??

    Hello, Greetings, and 'sup?

    After scouring many sites regarding info for the upcoming Pokemon games Diamond/Pearl, I must say that they look promising.

    But there is one aspect which irks me to no end:

    THE POKEMON

    Out of all the new Pokemon, a whopping 30 of them are Evolutions/Pre-evolutions of existing Pokemon. That's more than a quarter of the new Pokemon which aren't really "new" at all.

    SERIOUSLY. You folks at Gamefreak, STOP IT. Recycling is good for the environment, not for the game industry. Is originality a completely dead and buried concept?

    Alright, so they're not all bad. Erlade and Mumage are kinda cool, and the two new eeveelutions are okay- but most of the rest are really just a for-sure sign that the game designers are running out of ideas.

    This is, of course, my own personal opinion.

    So, what of you guys? What do you think about all the evo/prevo mania?

    Sure, it's Wikipedia, which means anybody can mess around with it, but I find the info pretty reliable, and matches everything else everybody is saying anyways.

    I don't really see anything wrong with the new pre-evo, new evos. I'm not that big on that kind of stuff. I think it's ok that they are making new pokemon. I just wish they would do something about.....Mabye i should make a topic about it. Never mind. Game Freak FTW!!!

    the only things i don't like are Eteboss and Mojanbo, Aipom and Tangela evos.
    and i wanted the 3 legendaries to look a little more different from each other. Right now i can't tell who's who!
     
    To be honest, i feel it's a good idea that they're working on the old lines, brings back some love to the old Pokemon.

    I agree. Except for the Nosepass evolution. That was a bit unnecessary. DX

    But like Kaku said, I think its good that they are doing stuff with some of the older pokes'. It's just that some of them aren't all that great.

    Actually, that brings me to another point, Legendaries. With each generation, there's more and more legendaries. To sum up:

    R/B/Y- 5
    G/S/C- 6
    R/S/E- 10
    D/P- 12

    Aren't legendaries supposed to be rare and elusive? I believe 10+ per block is getting to be a little much.


    But back to the topic at hand. Now, you guys talked about how the Evos/Prevos help rekindle interest in the older Pokemon.

    I disagree, to me, there never was a significant loss of interest in the old Pokemon. They're still very popular and powerful contenders- there's absolutely no need to change them whatsoever.

    Not to mention some of the designs are just downright horrid. Like What? mentioned, the Tangela evolution. Tell me you like it without laughing. If anything, these new Pokemon are hurting the old Pokemons reputations rather than helping them.
     
    What numbers are some of the evolutions? I can't recognize the Japanese names, so i kinda have to go by number...

    I'm kinda mixed... I don't like new Pre-Evolutions. No one keeps a pokemon in its pre-evolution. They're worse than the other pokemon, and pretty much aren't going to be used, so to me, thats just a waste. Great, a baby magmar. I won't use it, because magmar is still better.
    I kinda like new Evolutions... Kinda. I think I'm sick of Eevee now... theres just too many. And crap like Nosepass... I just don't care. (I didn't know he had a new form...)
    Atleast the new guy looks cooler... but i doubt i'll really use him, because nosepass was just so lame to start with.
    New Magneton is ok, hes not too bad... but PorygonZ? I was sick of Porygon in R/B/Y. Then P2 came out... then Z... ugh, just go away!
    Eh... Tangela is nifty, but i don't think i'll use it... Aipom was kind of a wierdo in G/S/C, and the new one has like hands coming out of its butt...

    I'd rather have new pokemon than pre-evolutions, but sometimes the evolutions after are lame... (Nosepass... pfft.)
     
    The DP Pokedex is going to be like the Johto Pokedex. It also was all just evos and since they had just introduced baby pokemon, they thought "Why not make a billion?!" That's one of the reasons I'm not liking DP, Game Freak has to get original. It screws the whole pokedex up when it's just evolutions of a previous pokedex.

    See, in G/S/C I didn't mind it that much, since it was a new concept and everything- but seriously- it's over. No more. In the R/S/E series, we were thankfully only assaulted with one of these things (Azumarill). But like I mentioned- 30 of the new Pokemon are of this genre.

    Prevos are alway useless and have no reason for existing. New evos are good, because it would be nice if all the crappy Pokemon could be used for something.
     
    When I first set my eyes on Pokemon, back in the 90's, I thought they were the wierdest looking things ever to have the pleasure of me seeing them! But, as I became interested with it more and more, they became normal. I could look at them without any problems of judgemental feelings. And before long, the 2nd generation was out, the same thing went threw my mind, but know, I see them to. Then the 3rd generation, again the same. And as I gaze upon these new Pokemon, I see no lack in imagination, or idea loss, I see the same pokemon that I saw before. You'll see, everybody will, within the time of the new year, we will look at these new Pokemon with respect for what they are, and will be daydreaming about the next generation. As so, the process continues, and thats how it may always be, but we will always come to appreciate Pokemon for what they are.
     
    Some of the evos/prevos are really good, but here are the Pokemon that I think are unnecessary:

    I mean come on! Do we really need a bigger Rhydon? And on top of making Pokemon like Chansey and Chimecho rare, they had to make prevos for them too!

    Also, even though I think there are enough Eeveelutions, Glaceon and Leafeon are pretty cool.

    One more thing. Don't forget Wynaut, but I guess that doesn't really make a difference. I just like pointing things out! :D

    anyways your right about there being too many pre and evolutions. But I understand the evolutions because some Pokemon needed it for example Murkrow being a weak Flying/Dark type, but there is no point in having pre evolutions
