If you look up closely to Bluetopus' backsprite, you can see that he does have some sort of crest, so it's likely he's a squid or some sort of cuttlefish. In fact, he looks so cuddly, his English name might even be Cuddlefish D:

It seems his head only points very slightly though.. it could be a crest, but it's rather small haha.
So that makes me think it's more of a cuttlefish than a squish or octopus.

I think it does have 8 arms though,by what I can see or 4, it could be four arms.

As for the picture, its face seems somewhat bland. I mean we can't see facial features, but if we were to get a clearer image soon, I might like it more. Though it is somewhat cute as blurry!
