Newbie help: What packs to buy for Christmas gifts?

Sorry, please forgive the simple question. I want to buy some packs for my nephews for Christmas, and when I went to look I see there are lots of different types of card packs- "Sun and Moon Booster", "Detective Pikachu", "XY Evolutions", etc. Could someone please point me toward a guide or give me some advice? I tried Google, but afraid I lack the background to figure out an answer. Thanks!

Apologies, been busy for the most part. Furniture doesn't move itself and I had relatives who needed help moving.

We need more details about how your nephews enjoy the cards to actually make recommendations. Do they play? Just collect?

I'd always advise the newest set as they will stay relative for longer and depending if budget allows then the elite trainer box's are a solid go to as they will also proved sleeves and a nice checklist. However if your on more of a budget then some of the older set can often be found cheeper

Do they have the latest Pokemon games (Sword and/or Shield)? If they do, the Sobble, Scorbunny, or Grookey Galar Collection boxes might be something they're interested in.

Mostly asking to get ideas. If they're young enough, they won't care what packs you get as long as they're cards and they manage to pull Pokemon they like.
