You don't seem to understand the concept of a 'Killer Application', do you, jj984jj?
Ask yourself this, what sold a huge % of the Playstations in homes today?
AllRPG did a poll a while back that showed over 30% of Playstations were purchased for FF7. Why? Because at the time, if you wanted that game, you needed a Playstation.
Sony aren't at all foolish for making FF7:AC a UMD Exclsuive.
If you wanna see it, buy a PSP.
Once you have a PSP, Sony starts making profit off you.
It's the Killer App Theory.
 
But this is a whole different concept, it's not a game, it's a movie, this isn't about a game, very different indeed. And they are releasing it on DVD in Japan, so it is stupid in the sense that they are holding out on us American and Canadian fans.
 
I'd like to know your source (Reputable, please) that it's being released on DVD at all, actually.
But as a machine that is marketed to play movies and games, it'd quite feasable to state that a movie can be used as a Killer App to move the system from shelves.

Okay, I have many links from forums about the Japanese DVD confirmation, and the offical site if you can understand Japanese, the second link is also Japanese, but it does confirm the DVD release. Some of them are english sites, of coruse there is no confirmation of a english DVD, but as I said they would be stupid to limit us on this movie when they are releasing the DVD in Japan.

Well then it looks like if you want it on DVD, you'll be ordering from Japan :D
Unless of course the guy in the E3 video was lying.
I somehow doubt that.
But then, with the PSP not even shown in its final retail form at E3, anything can happen.

I can't wait for the DS to come out...The PSP looks to expensive and dull for me....

Pac-man, Wario Ware, Animal Crossing, Metroid, Spiderman 2, Final Fantasy + lots more!
 
No *real* Final Fantasy games will be on the NDS.

Sony and Squaresoft are still far too deep in bed with each other for that.
 
True. It's unfortunate that Nintendo and Square broke their relationship a long time ago. But the FF series isn't the only great franchise Square-Enix has. So maybe they'll keep the Mana series and they could even bring back the Chrono series to Nintendo. Square-Enix and their team are very interested in the DS, the DS is awesome for RPGs, and they see that. :)
 
Mario N64 is coming to the Ds! It'll be called Mario 64 x 4


I would get a PS2 just for the FF games! [If I had enough money!]
 
PSP looks alot cooler than that. That piece of **** looks like crap. Nintendo sucks and they have no chance of tring to outsell Sony, why try?
