4th Gen Nintendo warns pokemon DP importers.

NoE's made themselves a requirement for all game releases in the European region to include the 5 languages they cater for. They likely won't stop any time soon.
And that's exactly why we get 99% of games months after everyone else. With the odd release getting released here before everywhere else, which is not very often at that. And I know they won't, but it would be a whole lot better if they did.

Well, Battle Revolution will not work on an American/European Wii (until a Freeloader comes out). You might as well buy the American version of Diamond/Pearl if you want to play. You'd probably be stuck anyway.

Why should I not buy the japanese? There is no american version yet, and I want the original anyway.

There's only 3 large divisions that handle game work - Nintendo of Europe, Nintendo of America, and of course, Nintendo of Japan. Nintendo of Europe, for the idiots that obviously work there, seem to want to wait for the American release so that their team translates off the American release. This is so translations are accurate to the American translations rather than the Japanese translations.

I know about the divisions, but I'm just wondering if they have any kind of team that could translate it straight from Japanese. Why do they need to be accurate to the American translations? Not that THAT matter so much, bu the release could be done so much faster. Sometimes NoE just sucks.

And, on a side note, isn't there a Nintendo of Australia? I at least thought there was...

If you're importing the Japanese version and yet can't speak the language, I can't say you're walking a very good way. If you're going to import the American versions on release, though, I can strongly encourage it. Just… don't blame all of Nintendo for this - it's the European division that seems to give messages like this.

On another note, DON'T censor bypass. I know, I'm tempted to do it too after learning of this, but restraining yourself is much better.

No I'm wanting to import the american one since I dont know Japanese

They should just have them all translated and shipped out at the same time since it just pleases Japan Fans first then goes to everyone else months after instead of making the game and then translate it into all the different languages and ship it out all at the same time.

It may take longer but it evens out the anticipation and makes it so they dont have to complain about importing.

I bet the japenese people are laughing at us :' (

But i live in Aus so i get it almost the same time as North America. and thank goodness i can import because of the Australian Trading laws. But by the time i import it an it finally comes it will already be out in Aus.

And sometimes Nintendo can be a jerk. i bet they purposly glitch the game up in the first wave so it would destroy their game and they would hav to buy a new one!!! evil...

Bah sweeties, I'm still importing D/P. =p Is Nintendo of America being a jerk to us, or is Nintendo of Japan being stingy?

that makes no sense. they WANT people to buy their product. they're not that glitchy, and even if they were, people could always return them for being so glitchy. the glitches that are in the game are very hard to detect and don't really affect intended gameplay at all.

I FEEl sorry for the europeans, can they Export the english DP to europe!? for sale? and WHY would nintendo want to be that greedy!?

So, I assume you have a Japanese Wii to work the game with?

But pkmn DP is Nintendo DS. I don't have any Wii yet, since I'm not sure if I want the japanese(since I want the jp Battle Revolution) or not. And some day I may buy the amrecian DP too any way. It's not unusual for me to have two of the same game, but in different languages, not unsusual to have both games either (like I have Silver AND Gold for instance) (by the way I have silver in both german and english and soon I will have it in japanese).

You would think ninteno of any of the countries would have translation teams for each language, i understand that japan gets it first, due to game freak being in japan, but why couldnt they just send copies to the other nintendos on D/P's japan release, so they could start translating them and put them out mabye a month after, it doesnt take 3 - 5 months to translate a game, esspecially not a ds game, i used to do it for fun (im a programming dork) and did it for a class a few times as a project, it takes less than a month of about 3 hours of decoding and recoding per day, and i did this with games larger than pokemon d/p, its just . . . grrrrrrrrr . . . *kicks nintendo*

Well, at last you get it in your language... And you pay much less than here.
I live in Brazil, the language here is portuguese, and that´s not a common language...
But here you pay much more for a game than in any other country in the world.
Let´s say: US$1200 for a Wii :tired: US$410 for a DS Lite, and about US$ 100-200 for each game...
That´s a lot, huh?
Well, a Playstation 3 here cousts about US$ 3999 !:knockedou
And 1 dollar here cousts about $2,30 of my country´s "Real":tired:

Incorrect. It is illegal in the United States for users to create backup copies of their own games, which a ROM image would qualify as.

Whoa, whoa, WHAT? Since when!?? I haven't heard about that before.

It shouldn't be that way anyway. A game owner should have the right to have a backup of their game in case the original conks out.

But I digress. Of course, I'm in America so the main topic doesn't really apply to me anyway. All I can say is "I'm sorry".

I'm pretty sure they're following precedent of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, who pretty much made enough filings to lead Lik-Sang.com to bankruptcy.

I was talking about Battle Revolution in Japanese. If you don't have a Japanese Wii, you won't be able to play that.

I know. but I'm waiting for Diamond now, I must get to learn about the new Pokémon, their names and looks.

About the translating of games, they do other things to before releasing them i US. In US silver/gold you cannot catch Celebe, but in the japanese you can.

I know, like localizing and stuff like that but it still doesnt take more than 2 1/2 months

Precedent to this case. Backups aren't allowed under such, nor are the devices for it legal.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to go off the main topic for a moment...

...What I gathered from that case is that Atari sued the other company for making a device made specifically for copying their games, because they didn't believe their games fell under the exception of the 117. However, I'm not sure that would apply as much to current games. Those large cartridges aren't as fragile as CDs or DS games, which can break (a few of mine has done so already before). The company also advertised that people could GIVE those copies to other people, which is a definite copyright infringement. What I'm saying is that backing up your own game is legal in case it breaks, which I also saw was true according to that case (I believe that 117 they made repeated reference to says such). Of course, it requires actually owning the physical game.

And, going on a topic that many users on here should be aware of, the GB Pokemon games in particular are in danger of losing battery power and, hence, losing the ability to be used. Having backups (in this case, ROMs) of these games should be legal under the 117 because they have been known to cease normal function.

......I know that was off-topic, but it applies to everyone, so PMs just wouldn't fit. I'd be fine with going to a more appropriate area, though.

But u can exchange the battery for a new one. I did it in my SNES and GB games.

While they still made them, maybe...but not anymore (unless you get one "underground", but that requires someone who knows how to replace them...)
