No its a boy...no its a girl Chikorita/Bayleef?

    Ugh, I really don't like making threads like this but I'm curious xD so this is fine. Alright, me and a friend were having a debate on the gender of Ash's Chikorita/Bayleef. I told her that its obviously a girl, but shes insist that its a boy. Yes, in game Chikorita's are prodominately male as opposed to female, as odd as it may be :/. So I told her id make this thread here, yes she's a fellow member, to see what others think of the gender of Ash's Chikorita/Bayleef is. So yeah, what do you think the gender of his Chikorita/Bayleef is?

    I bet more will agree that it is indeed a she so I can prove that I'm right and she's wrong xD. Anyway discuss :3

    It's a girl.

    I also found this bit of info, it's interesting:
    Chikorita took as many episodes to evolve as another Pokémon that had a crush on Ash: Aipom. They were both Generation II Pokémon before their evolution as well, and their Japanese names are both very similar to their English names. Both are also confirmed to be female, and both Pokémon also use their Japanese voices in the dub.

    She in CANON is in love with Ash. Also its predominately male, that doesn't mean the entire species is male...that would mean that they species would have died out. I mcean there are Female chikorita out there, so why can't Ash have one? Because guys can't have female pokemon? So he should never have caught Aipom in the first place. I mean what makes your friend think she is a dude? >_>
     
    Chikorita had some jealousy in the early episodes iirc, and yeah, it had a crush on Ash before evolving. It was jealous of Pikachu at first.
     
    Well, his friend could've argued that guys can have crushes on guys, :P

    But Bayleef has been confirmed to be female.
