In Gen III and Gen IV, there is an indicator, which is named Sheen in Gen IV itself. Sheen is usually increased when you raise Contest stats by eating Pokéblocks and Poffins at that time, and when the Sheen is maxed, your Pokémon can't eat any of these anymore. And for my surprise and for a positive note, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in Gen VI decides to throw this mechanic away, so that you can raise the Contest stats to the best that you can be.

What's your opinion of the removal of a bit limiting gimmick, do you like it? And how does it affect your Pokémon Contests?

The fact that I can maximize the contest stats of my old DP contest Pokemon is a good thing to me lol.

Aside from that... There's no challenge in maximizing a contest stats. Just plant a ton of berries, mix them into Pokeblocks, stuff them all to your Pokemon, and voila: done. It doesn't feel the same like in the originals and DPPt. It became way too easy.

I spent a lot of my time making the perfect poffins for my Milotic back at Pearl and make sure that every sheen was worth it, and now I just need to mix a bunch blue berries and stuff them into a Feebas' mouth without caring on how much it has eaten.
