Non-Pokemon hacking Rom

    I was curious if anyone here does Non-Pokemon hacking roms. I'm a fan of the Advance Wars 2 game for the Gameboy Advance. It uses a Hex code, and I don't know how to do them. I know a long time ago I was taught the basics of it, but because of how the code works, messing with the data can cause the game to crash. And adding in new characters is tricky...even more so if you want to add in the powers. Pretty much, is anyone familiar with it?
     
    I hacked non-pokemon roms, and advance wars 2 by the way ! but I only edited some graphics (the portrait of some characters). Other than that I hacked DBZ Supersonic Warriors.
    I never tried to write ASM code for these games though, I just don't have the time for that.
     
    tried making a half life mod once. didn't work out all that well.
