[PokeCommunity.com] Obama & The need for a nonpartisan system

Yeah if they can't vote why make 'em president?

Then again I don't know what a nonpartisan system means.

I think you should learn what you're talking about before attempting to be funny... or at least read the article. A nonpartisan election is one where a candidate's party affiliation is non on the ballot.

You know my views on a non-partisan system.

Ideally it would be the system in place, but our system of government requires the 2 party system.

This is for a local election system; though, not a statewide or nation election system. Nonpartisan local elections are quite common, especially in small towns like these where the voters know many of the candidates personally.

Why did the Federal Government become involved through the CRA?

Why did the Federal Government become involved through the CRA?

The DOJ got involved because the Obama Administration felt that black voters won't be able to figure out who to vote for unless the term "Democrat" appears next to their name on the ballot.

Nonpartisan elections don't just help the minority major party, they help third parties and independents, as well. Those candidates are considered nothing more than a protest vote in a partisan system, but their chances of winning are greatly increased in a nonpartisan system. To prevent vote-splitting, one needs to simply have some sort of runoff election between the top two voter getters if nobody achieves a majority in the general election.
