HI I've only played the first 2 generations, so I have a question. Mew and Celebi were unobtainable outside of events and cheating. Do the 3rd and 4th generations have their own 'unobtainable' pokemon, and if so, what are they?

Also, I heard you could get some of these pokemon from the non-main games. Like apparently you could import Mew from Pokemon Ranch, and a Celebi from a bonus disk from another game. How many can you get this way?

OH and can the NDS games trade with the previous games? If not, is there some way you can send them from the GB to a console to the NDS?

Third and fourth generations have more "unobtainable" Pokémon than previously: Jirachi, Deoxys in third and Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus in fourth. However, the advent of Wi-Fi distribution and trades makes getting them very, very easy to access no matter where you live.

You can get Mew from Pokémon ranch, but I'm not sure about any others.

The NDS games can import GBA Pokémon through the Pal Park after you finish the main quest. However, this cannot be done on a DSi because it doesn't have a GBA slot. So get a DS Lite if you want to do that.

This would have suited better for the Advanced generation Q&A and the DPPt Q&A, for the questions pertaining to each generation. But you got your answer now, so...
