...but apparently only for 24 hours and that's it! ;-) https://3ds.pokemon-gl.com/calendar/#/1/e44b9061-fbd5-4a35-a23c-ac427413d34d

So, a HUGE complaint I had with the "official Pokemon X and Y strategy guide" was that it had no pokedex in it. During the Hoenn days all the strategy guides release by Nintendo all had the obtainable pokemon in the back of the guide plus all their learnable moves (via move tutor, breeding, level up and so on) so is that what this guide would be? And if so, does anyone know if it will have all the pokemon in it, or just the ones obtainable within Kalos? Or has no one heard anything about it until the GL site posted it's existence?

seems pointless buying a book pokedex when there's sites like Bulbapedia with all the info you need, it's more interactive with all the info you need with just a simple mouse click... and then there's sites like smogon to tell you what you should teach them and how to train them to be efficient killing machines, which the book pokedex falls short.

So unless you're buying it solely for collecting purposes.. it's a pointless buy otherwise in my personal opinion. but then again it's only $15 preorder on amazon.com, release date Feb 4th. So not too expensive for a 736 page book.

Pokémon X & Pokémon Y: The Official Kalos Region Pokédex & Postgame Adventure Guide: The Official Pokémon Strategy Guide

    • Extra tips and hints for your adventures after the Hall of Fame!
    • A poster of the Kalos region Pokémon!

I think they're trying to make this go around a little more challenging!
However, I bet soon enough, someone will complete it and leak it out.

Well if we're sharing opinions on stuff (which wasn't the point of this thread, but whatever!) a site like smogon that bans easily counterable moves like Double Team because no one in their entire website has any idea how to counter it, or bans Blaziken SOLELY because of it's ability of Speed Boost (even though anything that goes up against it that is already slower than it already negates any advantage speed boost has because it could get 2 MILLION speed boosts and it's still not going to get any advantage of the opponent because it's already faster than the opponent anyway and it still only gets 1 move per turn) that can only make good choices based on banning this that or the other move or pokemon isn't really that good in my opinion. I could wipe the floor with anyone on this website if everyone followed my rules of banned moves, pokemon and abilities, and anyone that did manage to beat me, I could just ban that pokemon afterwards too, does that make me good? Not at all!

But anyway, back to the point, the thread wasn't about whether the book was necessary or not (by the logic of "it's pointless because the information is available on the internet" we should just have public book burnings because ALL books are useless thanks to the internet) it was

That's all. No need to attack the book for daring to exist! ;-) And yes, lots of us like to collect these books, that's why I bought the X and Y strategy guide, even though the info is available online and, really, it's a pokemon game. How much strategy guide does one need to get through it? ;-)

Regardless if Smogon bans moves, or pokemon i.e. blaziken. that doesn't mean they don't have a page for that pokemon showing you exactly what strategies, moves, and EVs to train/teach it.. I meant use smogon as a guide, not use it to join competition battles.

for example: Dark Void is a 100% banned move for Darkrai not only on smogon, but also at official gamefreak/nintendo pokemon competitions, but yet they still list it as the #1 move to teach Darkrai.

Even more recently they Banned Mega Kangastan, yet under their X&Y strategies, they have Kangastan holding it's Kangaskhanite.

he wasn't attacking anything, just saying all the info is already out there, i've noticed you have the tendency to over react to things on here.

Anyway, the amazon description answered everything you asked, there are only 400-500 pokemon in X and Y so that would be Kalos only info in the book.

This is true, meaning it wont have any info on the Pokemon Bank transfers nor the Friend Safari pokemon by the sounds of it :<

At just 454 Pokemon in the 3 Kalos pokedexes total.. this means this pokedex book probably wont even have info on X&Y Friend Safari Pokemon or else it would say nearly 600 pokemon. As there's an additional 139 Pokemon to be had from the safari. and probably wont even have info on Torchic>Blaziken as it's not Kalos..
