First of all, if this is in the wrong forum please move it to it's proper place, thank you! Any way... So it has been a while since you played that old Pokemon game of yours, and you decide to turn it on. The game loads up and poof! The Continue option is gone! You really want to play the game again, so what do yu do? Well there are a few options, First (The only one Nintendo will say works :) ) is that of sending it to Nintendo to have it fixed, but on Nintendo's website, they say they won't service old Pokemon Red and Blue games, and this may be true for Yellow and even the Metal Generation. Now you need more options!Obviously Nintendo says to buy a new DS version of the game (To get more money) but if you want Generation I or II you would have to buy used online or an expensive one that is new (Who knows when the used battery is going to die then?) You could replace the battery yourself, but you could damage the game that way. A much better option is a FlashCard, although frowned upon by Nintendo (becase they lose money because of it) it can store saves along with the entire game, so you never have to use the old cartrige again. I will not give the names of any because that is considered advertising, but just search it and look around. Another option is a Mega Memory Card, these are made by a few companies, and allow you to use the original cartrige (So Nintendo doesn't hate these much) and take a game save off the cartrige and store it here. The best part is, even after the battery is dead in the original cartrige, you can load the game save without ever replacing the battery. At anytime too! A final option would be a gameshark, although I don't think the GameBoy version has it, I know the GBA one does. It has a program called MemoryManager, this program lets you store gamesave backups on your PC. These are only a few of the options and if you do some research, you'll be playing your beloved Pokemon games in no time!
