Old School and New School Episode Opinion

Tbh whenever I watch an older episode and compare it to the episodes now, they seem very similar to me. I don't think the problem is the writing of the show has changed, but rather that we're growing out of the anime. The animes main target is young kids so they may feel like XY, DP, or whatever show they grew up with may be the best.
That said I still do enjoy the character changes every series along with the development that comes with it for them.

Completely wrong !
Because Original series of Pokemon was completely different then current series !
As for we growing up , Original was was watched by older fans as well ! Its wasn't just watched by little Kids.

The sense of entitlement when it comes to the anime is so bizarre. Pokemon is a children's anime used for marketing a children's game, and just because you fell out of the target demographic at some point doesn't mean that the quality of the show has dropped. It's baffling that the apparent lack of quality of a kid's anime can anger adults so much.
THIS. Psyducking this.

I don't believe children's entertainment should be immune to valid criticism at all, but that's rarely what goes on around here whenever the OS is brought up; especially with one poster in particular who can't even be bothered to watch the rest of a show he won't stop complaining about. Some fans, and this isn't limited to Pocket Monsters either, get the idea in their head that this is their show and they should have an actual say in how it's managed. And they confuse that sense of entitlement with actual critique.

Fans don't get to decide the direction a show goes in. Fans get to evaluate what they're given and decide whether or not it's good by engaging with the work on its own merits (in other words, criticizing other series because Kasumi wasn't in them isn't a valid criticism). I wish more people would realize this around here.

The nostalgia towards OS is irritating too. I loved OS because I was a kid when I watched it and I'll always look back on it fondly, but I'd be lying to myself if I said it didn't have a wealth of problems, particularly in Johto. Misty and Brock were not the infallible companions so many of you make them out to be; they were sidekicks at best, and the Pokemon they had received little focus. May and Dawn in comparison were far better companions, who had actual development, realistic and defined goals and ample screen time throughout their time on the show. I don't understand how you can try and argue objectively that Misty and Brock were better than anyone who came after them, or that the show is any worse of without them (Brock in particular well overstayed his welcome).

The way people cling to Misty, Brock and OS as a whole is borderline unsettling. The saga ended over a decade ago, let it go and move on.
I get that criticism is ultimately subjective and all, but for the love OS gets here and in other places, I rarely see anyone try to argue for its merits in a way that doesn't come down to, "it just resonates with me more" (see also: "it felt more genuine than later seasons", "it was funnier", etc.). There probably are valid arguments to be made that OS did things right that other series don't, but it's telling that all but one of its biggest advocates here aren't capable of expressing them. I agree that the OS, particularly Kanto and the Orange Islands, was a lot of fun. But the saga really wasn't as great as some would have us believe. Same goes for Kasumi, too.

Having watched OS! lately I daresay that if, for some reason, they did go back to the way things were back in OS people would still bash on it and say it's not the same. Even if Misty and Brock both came back we have different writers. They're going to do something different and chances are? People are not going to necessarily like those differences. And let's not even get started on Ash and his competency. Yes, his competency level has literally been up and down especially DP -> BW -> XY. Yes, people have said that he was worse in BW than in OS (which, to a degree, I can see, but at the same time I simply look at the aspects that didn't actually backtrack). But at this point if they brought him back to OS people would actually complain about his competency.

OS was good and fun and all, but there are things about OS that I would personally never want to see happen again. Yes, sometimes Ash might still win his gym battles questionably. But at the very least he doesn't win his gym badges because of Team Rocket. Despite it all he does win his gym badges on his own now. Things have changed. It's time to move on. There's no going back to the past because whenever you do it's never the same so why even bother thinking like that?

Again, just my opinion.

I hate when people say that it's time to move on and etc. if that's the case then cancel Pokemon or change every character because it's a different era. The product they put on tv today regarding Pokemon is crap. It's not good. The ratings in America are down for a reason. It's horrible. Ash should have become a Pokemon master in season 6,7,8 and then they should have gone a different direction. Indigo league top 16 , then wins orange league, so much potential and you think finally gets over the top and becomes a master. 15 seasons later, we're back at square one. That's just horrible.

Yeah it's sad that he's made little progress towards his goal, and even when he does advance a bit, he takes two steps back later like we saw in BW.

The Problem is the script-writer !
Most character talk as if they are from Mid-era or something.
Unlike the original series where Character talk normally .

Here , You can see How BW Ash talked and how Original Ash talk--

I wish for him to stop talking so over-dramatically ! Also , This series no longer has well-writen bizzare character.
Plus , The Character interaction sucks ! I'm dying for some funny interaction like Ash , Brock & Misty.
Also , Original series was watched by Teenager as well So I don't think age has anything to do with Pokemon's Bad writing & Direction.

That's more of a dub issue though since afaik, the Japanese version doesn't have the same problem. I dislike the dub's dialogue as well though, plus Ash's VA can't emote.
