Yeah, but a lot of anime fans are set in their ways about dubs anyway, so it won't really matter. And animation limitations are still a thing. I mean, they're older but it's not uncommon to see stuff that surpasses what we have today ("Itano Circus" is a renowned example of stuff that just stands the test of time). It's really just a matter of budget and direction.
Though, going with voice acting, despite it being a bigger field today, I feel as if back in the day we got a much larger variety of voices. Nowadays, regardless of language, voices fall into tropes, just as characters do. It's a shame, really.
