doh! I forgot what skull clamp does...I know I saw the artwork where this one gay guy had his mouth open or something

skullclamp 1
Artifact - equipment
equipped creature gets +1/-1
Whenever the equipped creature is sent to the graveyard, draw 2 cards.
Equip 1

INSANELY BROKEN THE FIRST TIME I SAW IT! I like it still tho, I thought R&D purposely made this and let it through, tho.

skull clamp is the very first card banned from the type 2

Actually, there were many more before its time. But it is the first type 2 ban for 4 years (Mercadian Masques block) and the first block constructed ban for 5 years (MEMORY JAR from Ursa's Saga block).

well it's "officially" the first type 2 banned card

Well it's the first uncommon to be officially banned in type 2, if that's what you mean. I know for a fact that the port was banned officially along with the Rebel legend during the Mercadian Masques days. Both are rares. I think you mean that Type 2 didn't exist or something, but it was just like the beginning of extended if I recall, when Mercadian Masques came out (i.e. Type 2's there).

what does Mercaidian Masques do?

O_O

Haven't been been around the block for a while, have you? Mercadian Masques is the block before Invasion. Invasion is the board before Odyssey.

Mercadian Masques is the block after Combo Winter (Urza's Saga block), which signalled the rebirth of magic (with some brokenness that they had to smooth out with bannings).

btw, if you were wondering, nemesis (second set in the Masques block) had some of the worst card and the best cards in the block. lol

i thought it was a car
memory jar is just rigged no wonder it's banned

what does it do anyways?
is it that good?

It's cuz what she can do is search of ANY rebel with X mana cost and put it into play by just tapping her and paying X. This gave her so much synergy with rebels that every rebel deck ran 4. It came down to whoever playing her first wins the game, that's all. And her casting cost is like 4 or something, which is a deal (since there are rebels that make you pay 5 to search of a rebel with mana cost of 4 or lower and put it into play). this rebel deck is also immune to wraths and stuff due to the fact that there is some rebel that brings rebels back (and the cycle begins anew). So now we just patriach's bidding, then they used rebels. lol

btw, mercenaries had a push in Masques too, but they were generally horrific.

yeah but rebel's aren't that good i mean i've NEVER seen a rebel deck
well at least not type 2 lol

Cuz rebels don't exist in type 2, that's why. you'll find them in type 2 if you go back 3 or 4 years, tho. It was a defining deck similar to Red Zone 2K2 decks in the invasion/odyssey type 2. Well the closest thing to it in type 2 currently is probably goblin bidding. The difference is that rebels are white/black and that you serach your deck for more rebels along with playing them (it's like double the fun!). Definitely it is still a contender against the new type 2 decks.

oh i see
why not include rebels though?
