4th Gen Online Connectivity

When DP came out, it brought one of the most revolutionary features for Pokemon - Online connectivity. It made trading and battling a lot more easier and it boosted the activity of the community, from trading forums and battling strategies. I personally spent hours on the GTS trading away, expanding my collection. Those memories really solidified Gen 4 as my favorite generation.

What did you think about it, did you like the new feature? Maybe it needed improvements to make it better?

This was a godsend for me - I didn't have many friends who played pokémon, my brother didn't, and you could hardly bring your DS into school aged 14. I particularly enjoyed finally being able to get events - I've still got my Mew and Pikachu-coloured-Pichu. Combining GTS with being on here was great, no other way I would have ended up having the likes of Celebi, Arceus, Jirachi otherwise.

It's a real shame that they had to shut it all down - after all, Microsoft managed to keep Xbox Live available for the 360 all this time. Although it hurt Gen V more what with online being the only way to get berries and a lot of pokémon.

The WiFi-connection was my life during Gen IV. Battling in the WiFi Battle Tower, finding unobtainable Pokémon through GTS; these are the best memories I have of playing Diamond and made Gen IV one of of my favourite generations because of that. I really miss it now.
