Hey guys. I only have a DSi I got a few years back and I played on it a lot. I first got platinum, then soulsilver, then black and I haven't played much since that. Everyone is saying that X and Y are so good and I wanted to play but it's only available for the 3DS. I wish there was a way Nintendo could legibly release it on PC with an emulator as I don't want to buy a 3DS for >$170. I only want to play one game on it and maybe future Pokemons. What do you guys think? Honestly, in the future, the 3DS is gonna be cracked and emulators are going to be available for it and I wish I could play X or Y on them yet still pay Nintendo. I understand playing it on something other than a DS will kinda "ruin" the gameplay, but it's better than not playing it at all.

    Thanks,
    SwissAndOr

There's only a $40 difference, and I don't have $130 lying around to use a device that'll only use for one game (or more). So there's no other way? Is there anyone else who has my problem?

You may as well go ahead and get 2DS or 3DS. The age of DS and DSi is over and pretty soon they will not make anymore games for it. It really isn't that hard to slowly save up that much money. Not to mention Christmas is on its way.

Also it will probably be a very long time before they ever crack 3DS.

Well; If everyone is making this excuse everyone would've ended up playing on Gameboy still.

Converting from a Gameboy to Advanced to DS is the same as how we are upgrading along the way.

You could just sell your dsi. You can play dsi and ds games on the 3ds, so you're not losing anything by doing so. I believe you can do so with the 2ds as well, so you should definitely go for that instead.

Don't think this will ever happen.
Nintendo did release an Emulator for DS Developers for a while, but they stopped supporting it, and as a result, it had no Audio Output, no DSi(Ware) support, and no 3DS Emulator was ever made by Nintendo.
Besides, unlike DS and DSi ROMs, 3DS ROMs are highly encrypted.
It even took Flash Card makers 2 years to come with the first 3DS Flash Card.

Honestly, in the future, the 3DS is gonna be cracked and emulators are going to be available for it and I wish I could play X or Y on them yet still pay Nintendo.
3DS games are already cracked, but as I said, 3DS is far better encrypted than the DS and DSi were, but even if an Emulator comes out, it'll take ages to make games playable on them without Lag.
It even took them years to make DS Emulators without Lag, even N64 Emulators are still not 100% perfect.

I understand playing it on something other than a DS will kinda "ruin" the gameplay, but it's better than not playing it at all.
Actually not, it'll only be more limited, as the DS had 4 MB of RAM available, vs the 3DS that has 64 MB of RAM available for games or Apps.

To everyone, I will probably sell my DSi even if I didn't want to get the 3DS and all my games that I don't like/use. What do you think about this:

    DSi: ~50
    Case: ~25
    Universal Transporter: ~15
    Car Charger: ~2
    Total: ~92

    Games to Sell via Gamestop:
    My Sims Party
    Scribblensauts
    Spore Creaters
    Fossil Fighters
    Chrono Trigger
    Pokemon Ranger
    LEGO Battles

Also, what's the best way to sell all my games that I don't want and my DSi for more money?

Best way to make money? If you don't care how long it takes, sell them online. You can make at least 50% more than what you earn by selling to Gamestop.

Nevertheless, Gamestop is convenient because you are capable of making the money immediately.

    You could always upgrade to a 2DS. The most recent Nintendo I have is a DSi, too, and upgrading to a 2DS is what I want to do eventually. But I wouldn't upgrade just for Pokemon X and Y. There's a lot of other really great 3DS games, and it's silly (IMO) to buy the handheld just for one game. Get your money's worth. (;
Last time I checked Gamestop's website, the DSi XL was only worth about $22 to them (crazy, right?!). DSi's with accessories can still go for a lot of money on sites like eBay, there you'd get much more money than Gamestop would ever give you. Good Luck~

Thanks! My sister is going to sell her DSi too and my brother agreed to pay a third too. Selling ours on eBay. Were getting a 3DS since we "teamed" up. I might not even have to sell my games. I'm putting my sister's 100% function blue DSi on eBay for auction for a start price of $30 and what should I put mine for? Her's is in great condition, only the buttons are slightly down. Mine is even better condition and I'm going to sell it with a screen protector, car charger and a Orange/Gray Nerf Case. What should I put it up for?

As a person who has sold games in the past to Game Stop, I would not suggest that. They do not give very much and you can make more on a place like eBay.

If her's is getting a bid at $30, try putting your's on there for around 40 to 50 with all that. I would say $40 or $45 is a good starting point. Don't think many people will buy for that much. But there are some people crazy enough to go ahead and buy a Dsi when they are near the end of their role.

Thanks everyone! I listed them on eBay for $30 and $45 on /itm/161131314606 and /itm/161131314325

2DS is the way to go. Although, I hope for your sake you find this game worth it. It's about 30-36 hours long in story and there isn't much to do after the game right now. I would honestly suggest not busting your hump selling everything to get it unless you're positive. Really read over reviews, ask around, etc.

As I said before, I'm splitting the cost the only thing I'm selling is my DSi and DSi related accessories. It won't just be for Pokemon, it'll be for all my DSi games and any other that me, my sister or my brother get.
