Hi, guys. I'm still very new, here, so I'm not entirely positive on where I should put this. I'm not at all interested in tiers or serious competitive gameplay, but I do like to battle for fun with friends and experiment. I like to build teams for pleasure and novelty.. er, getting off-track, sorry.

Anyway, I was hoping for thoughts/advice on a team of dark-type Pokemon.
I haven't decided on items, yet...

    Umbreon? @ ???
    Synchronize
    ???
    - Guard Swap?
    - Substitute?
    - Wish?
    - Helping Hand?
    - Baton Pass?
    - ? ? ? ?? ???

I'm reeaaally not sure about the Umbreon, I'm torn between it and other options. It's mostly filler, but could be support.. I suppose. A better moveset would be great if anyone has an idea for it. I've got nothing.

Umbreon is the ultimate Dark Type. Not very high attack or special attack compared to it's other stats, but if you use some decent dark type moves he's worth it. I suggest Dark Pulse. Mean Look to setup baton pass for keeping you opponent from switching out while you switch in a more proper pokemon on your party to destroy their pokemon (yes, there are some npcs that withdraw their pokemon when you have the drop on them) and guard swap pretty much swaps umbreon's ridiculously high defense and special defense with your opponent's potentially much lower defense and special defense. and in tight spots where accuracy modifiers are in play, feint attack always hits.

Or, there's always a non-offensive option (only works in large battles, though, not worth it in a 3 vs. 3 or something)

Substitute | Mean Look | Baton Pass | Toxic

That is an incredible staller, especially if you give it Leftovers. You can also then send in something that can set up on your opponent behind a Substitute. Guard Swap isn't that good as it doesn't have that good movepool, offensively. Dark Pulse is really the best thing it's got as far as offense goes, due to STAB. Wish is always a good option, feel free to stick that in somewhere. And Faint Attack is incredibly underpowered, so not really worth it.

Houndoom should have Dark Pulse over Protect for 2 powerful STABs, and Protect doesn't do much for it, tbh.

Stone Edge > Aerial Ace on Tyranitar, as it's more powerful, and hits everything unable to be hit by Earthquake, usually more powerfully than Crunch.

Cacturne's good.....but either switch Acid for Sludge Bomb/Dark Pulse, or go physical:

Swords Dance | Poison Jab | Seed Bomb | Sucker Punch

You'd need to breed/tutor for Seed Bomb, though.

    Honckrow...

    Try this:

Night Slash (put that behind Super Luck and it's deadly) | Brave Bird/Drill Peck (if you don't want recoil, but both are egg moves) or Sky Attack (like stronger Fly, but you can still be hit) | Superpower | Return/Giga Impact - both are lethal off that attack stat, but Giga Impact needs you to kill then switch, really.

Sharpedo: Night Slash | Ice Fang | Zen Headbutt | Waterfall/Aqua Jet (priority)/Dive

That's just my nugget of wisdom on the topic.

Just a quick note, since Umbreon is pretty slow Payback is the best stab option it has due to it being 100 bp when moving after the opponent. (TM 66, you get it at route 35 north of Goldenrod in HG/SS, idk about D/P/Pt)
Also, you could always also breed Curse on it since pretty much nothing can hurt it after a few curses with defenses like that, while Payback will start doing some really decent damage. Torkoal gets it at lvl 12, and is afaik the only one that can pass a curse to Eevee. Otherwise, good luck with your team!

Thanks, guys. I'll really look into these suggestions.
I've already raised my Honchkrow, but any changes needed can be quick fixes(AR comes in handy when fixing egg moves.) I already intended for Night Slash with Super Luck. :)

Dark Pulse for Cacturne makes a lot more sense, heh.

    I appreciate the comments!
