[OOC: I see, Shadow Wolf. I am sorry. Take care.]
"I dunno what yer talkin' about," Jurran replied to Alex, averting his gaze.
Lowering his voice until it neared a whisper, Rey spoke. "Lying isn't healthy."
After casting a glance toward Rey's icy eyes, the prisoner turned toward Alex and blurted, "Sure you guys seem familiar enough. But, I don't even know if it was you!"
Though his expression remained calm, Rey felt his patience lessening as his focus grew stronger. "Get to the point," the trainer commanded, his voice low and tense.
"Well, it was pretty long ago and stuff . . . " Jurran's voice fell to a mumble.
Forcing himself to hold his temper, Rey prompted him, "Was it on this island?"
"Yeah, I think so . . . It was kinda weird, though, you know?"
"No."
Rubbing a slightly grimy hand against his head, a confused expression passed over the convict's face. "I keep tellin' myself it was a dream and stuff . . . I knew it was too weird. I mean, this ain't the type of stuff anyone could forget--'specially you two."
Rey's eyes narrowed. "Just spit it out."
"Well . . . ," the prisoner said slowly, as though attempting to recall an event from many years ago. "I was in the woods--been runnin' from cops for years." He laughed, adding, "Guess I'm not as good at it as I used to be. Anyway, that was when I saw you two." Here he indicated Rey and Alex. "I was tryin' to sneak past you all quiet-like--didn't want no trouble form the locals. Could've gotten arrested if they knew I was at the island. You looked like you were busy playing some type of game, so I thought it'd be pretty easy to get by unnoticed. But . . . that was when I saw it." Jurran shivered slightly. "You guys went all wavy-like. Pretty hard to explain. But, it was like you were there, but were more like a mirage or sumthin'."
"A mirage?" Rey echoed quietly.
"Yeah . . . And there was a kinda shadow thingy. All of a sudden you two weren't playin' no more. And, these red eyes were staring at me from the shadow. Then, both of you turn toward me. Yer friend here started toward me," Jurran said to Alex, motioning toward Rey. "Fer a moment you paused, all surprised-like, and moved in front of him. After that . . . black. Next thing I know, I wake up with a bunch of cops standin' three yards away." At this point, the convict's eyes were closed as he relived his memories. After a pause, he opened his eyes and looked from one person to the other. "Sorry, s'all I know."
Rey stepped toward him, his voice grim. "Is it?"
The man glanced nervously at Alex, swiftly adding, "Yeah, honest! What're you gettin' so worked up about? And how come you're askin' me? You should know more'n I do."
Struggling to control himself, Rey slowly stepped back. Closing his silver eyes to hide their frozen light, he spoke quietly. "I see then . . . thank you."
