Hello! I just had a general pricing question, thanks for taking the time to help me out.
I have a collection of the original 151 cards. The collection is all 1st/2nd set or jungle/fossil, literally 99% collected when I was kid. I randomly bought a dragonair a year ago just to finish the collection since I only had a later set version. There are a few 1st editions but most are not big hitters, probably the biggest 1st edition is Machamp. Most of the big hitter cards are either base set or 2nd set.
I have looked up a lot of these cards on various sites to see prices, but I really have no idea what it is worth as a collection. I don't know if having a complete set means selling it to a new collector might be a big payoff, or if people would rather me list all of these cards individually on ebay or something. To be completely honest, I'm not really looking to sell the cards, but I understand that childhood collections can mean a lot to collectors and if there is somebody out there that would want to pay a lot to see these cards treated in the best way possible, I would love to make that happen. I'm just not sure if what I have is really worth that kind of effort, or if original collections like this are fairly common.
So I'd love to hear if going out and finding somebody might be worth it for me, or if I should just pack it in the attic and show my kids someday. Thanks!
Edit: I forgot to comment on the quality of the cards. None of them are obviously damaged and they are all in pretty good condition, but having said that they have all been sitting in a binder for many years so they are obviously not crazy PSA 10 quality.
