[OU RMT] Mushrooms...

So, I decided to return to battling / laddering, and I wanted to make a team based on Breloom. I've used standard Breloom a lot in the past and I wanted something different for a change, Leech Seed. I've had a winning record of roughly 20 - 2 on the Smogon ladder (however, I haven't had much "good" opponents), and on the PC server I have 4 - 0 (edit: it is now 6 wins) if I recall correctly. I really had a fun time using this team, and none of the team members can be considered a weak link since all of them have performed well.

@ Shuca Berry
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Speed
Timid
- Flamethrower
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Dragon Pulse

Basic lead Heatran, however, I chose to use Flamethrower instead of Fire Blast since it always seems to miss when I need it the most. I don't have much problems with Blissey and Snorlax thanks to Breloom, so I use Hidden Power Grass as a replacement to injure bulky Waters, especially Swampert. On the other hand, I have been having some trouble with Dragons, so I'm considering Dragon Pulse. I would make Heatran a bit more bulky, but taking away from SpA (I need max Speed to speed tie with enemy Heatran) forces Flamethrower to be even weaker, which is something I prefer not to do.

Heatran's role is to set up Stealth Rock, abuse Toxic Spikes (some of its counters are weak to Toxic Spikes, like Vaporeon or Suicune), and it serves as my Rotom-A check. But, I now have Tyranitar, so the Rotoms shouldn't be too annoying with Heatran gone. Though, if they use Will-O-Wisp on the switch, and then follow up with another Tyranitar can be in some trouble.

@ Toxic Orb
Poison Heal
236 HP / 248 Def / 24 Speed
Adamant
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Spore

Breloom is what the team is based around, meaning I will not replace him. This is the Leech Seed set, yes it may be worse than the standard, I wanted to use something different from it since I've used the standard multiple times. The EVs can be changed, I never really had a problem with them, but if anyone has a better spread that is more efficient, then I'll change.

Breloom's role is to support the team with Leech Seed, weaken the opposing team, Tyranitar counter, and hopefully shut down my team's main counters with Spore. You may think Toxic Spikes would get in the way with Spore, but it really hasn't been a problem.

@ Leftovers
252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Speed
Bold
- Discharge / Thunderbolt
- Substitute
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp

This is a bit different from the standard set, it utilizes Substitute to protect from Pursuit users, stall with Toxic Spikes, or just avoid status, along with Pain Split, it can be very fun to use. The last slot depends, I might use Hydro Pump for Heatran, Tyranitar, and friends.

Clearly, if I use Toxic Spikes, I need a spin blocker if I want some protection from Rapid Spin users. Rotom-W helps with countering stuff like Rest-talk Gyarados as well. I did use Cut forme to handle Swampert, but I didn't have much problems with it due to Toxic Spikes, so I decided to switch to Wash to give Heatran second thoughts in switching in.

@ Leftovers
156 HP / 76 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Speed
Adamant
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Bounce / Stone Edge

You'd be surprised at how many times I've swept teams with this lol. Taunt helps with stuff like Blissey, Skarmory, and Taunt users. Bounce has been really useful for me, and helps stall out stuff like toxic'd Vaporeon.

I actually forgot what Gyarados mainly fulfills, but I do know that he helps with Taunt users like Skarmory or Gliscor, which is what Breloom has problems with. And it does add an useful Intimidate user, which is helpful to any team.

@ Lum Berry
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Speed
Jolly
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Tail

Standard pretty much, however I wanted to try out Lum Berry to help with status or hax (yes, I do have Rest-talk Tentacruel, but I would like something to be more offensive to status inducers), and it helps a ton with enemy Toxic Spikes. And after testing, it seems to be very helpful in almost every match I had. Aqua Tail > Fire Punch, since I won't be staying in on Scizor anyway (I'll switch to Gyarados, or Rotom-W if Gyarados is down), and it helps with stuff like Gliscor and Hippowdon. I'm considering Life Orb, since I've noticed a lack in power when vs Gliscor.

At first, I didn't want to use Tyranitar due to its omnipresent sandstorm weakening my Breloom's amount of recovery and Rotom-W loses its Leftovers recovery meaning less Subs. But once all 5 team members were set, the team was weak to Jolteon, and Tyranitar seemed to be the best choice even if it did hinder the team a bit. Anyway, Tyranitar also helps with Gengar, Latias, Rotom-A and all "pretending" to be a Choice variant but instead using them as set up fodder. Non-Choice Gengar with Focus Blast can be a pain though...

Well that's the team, it isn't perfect and it does have a few major threats I would like fix (Salamence, DD Gyarados w/ Ice Fang or Bounce, LO or Sub Gengar, Offensive Starmie, Agility SubPetaya Empoleon w/ Ice Beam, etc.). Rate away.

Threat List

Key:
= major
= minor

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Gyarados, Heatran, and Rotom-W.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Breloom, otherwise I just try to work around it using Gyarados's Intimidate.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tricky, Heatran is my only option, which is why I play conservative when using him.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tentacruel and Tyranitar, Gyarados can be a back up.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tyranitar and Heatran, I can usually play around Wash formes. My own Rotom-W can switch in on defensive variants when I know it won't use Shadow Ball or Will-O-Wisp.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tyranitar, but otherwise it can cause some problems. Heatran can possibly revenge kill though.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- A bit of a problem if it gets in a Dragon Dance (luckily I never encountered one that had time to set up), but I Breloom can put non-Ice Fang / Bounce variants to sleep I assume (Taunt is annoying though), and if it does have Ice Fang I would most likely utilize my own Gyarados's Intimidate and Rotom-W.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Heatran and Rotom-W.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W and Heatran.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Toxic Spikes and Gyarados.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tyranitar and Heatran, non-Choiced variants with Focus Blast can be a pain sadly.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tentacruel for specially based variants, Gyarados for physical.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W and Gyarados.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W and Breloom for defensive variants, however offensive can be very annoying.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- If I know it will use Thunder Wave or Toxic, switch to Tentacruel, then follow up with Tyranitar and set up. Breloom and Gyarados do well, and Rotom-W can stall it out with Sub and Pain Split. Additionally, Toxic Spikes cripple it.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W, Heatran, and Gyarados.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Gyarados, and maybe Rotom-W. Breloom can stall it if it lacks Taunt and Aerial Ace.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- It tends to switch on Tyranitar after it has Dragon Danced, and most will Sub expecting me to switch, so I usually Crunch to break its Sub. If it Spores, Lum protects Tyranitar, so it only wins if it uses Seed Bomb. Otherwise, I switch to Tentacruel to take the sleep, then switch to Gyarados or Rotom-W, Heatran can revenge kill if there is no Sub up.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W, Breloom can stall.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- I really just play around with Gyarados's Intimidate and Rotom-W.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Heatran and Tyranitar.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W mainly, but it takes quite a lot from a +1 Surf.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Breloom and Heatran. Tyranitar possibly if it is weakened enough to be KOed by Aqua Tail.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Gyarados and its Intimidate helps, if it's locked in Outrage, Heatran can use Dragon Pulse.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tyranitar, Breloom for non-Hidden Power Ice variants.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- I usually switch from Heatran and Gyarados predicting its moves. Gyarados can hopefully set up after Draco Meteor has been used.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tentacruel, Rotom-A if it doesn't use Thunder Wave while I switch, same with Heatran.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Heatran, Rotom-W for spin attempts, and Gyarados.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- I only have Breloom, and that can't handle Ice Beam variants...

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Gyarados to lure Outrages to Heatran, then go for the kill.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W, but if it lacks Aura Sphere Tyranitar does well.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W, Heatran, Gyarados, and Breloom to a lesser extent.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tyranitar pretty much.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Breloom, and if it's not offensive Gyarados does well.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W of course.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Gyarados, Heatran if it doesn't have Swords Dance.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Gyarados handles Choice Band variants, Rotom-W is good for Life Orb, but Ice Fang might hurt.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W, Gyarados, and Heatran.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Heatran, Tentacruel can take the sleep.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Heatran and Tyranitar, Rotom-W and Gyarados (if it doesn't carry ThunderPunch) can both revenge kill.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Gyarados if it lacks Stone Edge, Breloom and Rotom-W otherwise.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Tentacruel absorbs the sleep, then Gyarados can come in and Taunt. The rest of my team doesn't have any problems anyway.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W, possibly Gyarados.

[PokeCommunity.com] [OU RMT] Mushrooms...
- Rotom-W and Gyarados mainly.

Bulk up that Rotom

Rotom@Leftovers
252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Speed
Bold Nature
- Pain Split
- Substitute
- Will-o-Wisp
- Discharge / Thunderbolt

(This can rest talk too, if you remove tenta. Put speed in S.Def if you do this)

Conflicting status doesnt matter behind a sub, since you can just switch if they go to a Pursuiter and choose what you burn if its immune to t-spikes. Frail Rotom is an ass Gyara counter.

Tentacruel seems useless tbh, only one of your team is hit by T-Spikes too. Id add in a steel over it to help with the "mence problem". S.Def Taunt Skarm seems really nice here for Spikes and it also checks Mence and Taunting the incoming Rotom to make it set up bait is really fun lol. Spikes also wear down Gyara's counters faster than T-Spikes.

Use Stone Edge on Gyara to check mence well.

Make that Heatran bulkier plz.
