Well I was inspired by some of the stories on here to write one of my own. I used to write a lot, but lately I haven't been really into it. I hope you all like it. I also decided to make it different than the cliche Pokemon story, It will start off different than the usual adventure. I'm trying to give the main character meaning behind him becoming a trainer.

The story will start off sort of slow, but please bear with me.

    Chapter 1: Boon Island Blues

The brisk ocean water crashed up against the sandy coast, causing the white sand to turn a moist gray. The intense midday sun blasted the coast and illuminated the world in a shimmering gold. Sitting on the beach was two boys who were peacefully fishing their lives away. Thane and Kay were both great friends and they grew up Boon Island together. Thane was an older taller boy with shaggy brown hair and emerald green eyes. Kay was younger than Thane and smaller in size, he had short spiked blue hair and eyes to match. Both boys were dressed in basic island clothes, with loose fitting colorful Hawaiian style shirts and shorts.

Thane laid back in the sand and let go of his pole, he closed his eyes to defend against the piercing sun that shone in his face. Kay turned and looked at his friend speaking with a childish, defeated voice, "I haven't got one bite! Our great fishing spot has failed us." Thane chuckled and than sat back up, giving Kay a smirk. "This sucks, man I have nothing to do with my pathetic life," Thane's voice held the heavy burden of boredom when he spoke. Kay began to reel his line back in, his hook skipped across the calm ocean water. Thane followed suit and began to reel his in too. "Well at least I know what I want to do with mine, you haven't spoke about your future at all."Kay's hook was finally in, and he quickly noticed the bait had been stripped off. "You're right, if only we had the same chance that Dameon had, that lucky son of a gun," said Thane with jealousy in his voice. The thought of his once best friend burned at Thane's soul. Thane also eventually reeled in his line to find that his bait had been gobbled up too

"Jeez'! What luck we have," frustration built inside of Thane who then stood up and slipped his sandals on. "That jerk, we grew up together, the four of us. All of us vowed that we would become trainers together. And guess what? He's the only one who actually became a trainer." It was always Thane, Dameon, Kay and Lilia. They were the greatest of friends, they went everywhere and did everything together. Everyday they would escape from their houses to run around the island pretending they were on adventures. Even when they grew older they seemed inseparable. Each tried to convince their parents to allow them to go off and become trainers and all failed except Dameon. His parents paid for him to go into a trainer's school in Viridian City and eventually he graduated. Now he was a trainer, off in some far away place training, and collecting pokemon.

Kay eventually grew out of his dream to become a trainer. When he got involved with the local Pokemon Center. He grew interested in computers and technology from all the helping he had to do with the PC systems. Thane was a different story, in his heart he still had the dream, he still longed to become a trainer. It was hard for him to accept that he had to do something else, it was hard for him to cope with the fact that he may never get the chance to do what he always wanted to.

Slinging his pole over his shoulder, Thane looked up to the cliff side behind the beach. "We oughta' get out of here, Kay. Didn't you have to go down to the pokemon center anyways, to help out Nurse Betty with some new virus software?" Kay stood up, messing with the line on his pole. "Yeah, she always somehow runs into some random viruses. It's annoying." Kay and Thane then began walking tword the cliff side.

"Hey at least you know what you want to do, Kay. I have no clue. I definitely don?t want to become a nerd like my dad, or be obsessed with taking pictures like my mom." Kay turned and gave Thane a pat on his back. "Maybe you can become a fisherman?" Both of the boys cracked up from the small joke and began to climb up the cliff side.

Suddenly, a violent gust of wind picked up and ripped past them. Out of nowhere the shadow of a bird pokemon flew over their heads. They then heard the thumping noise of something hitting the sand below. Both Kay and Thane turned their heads to look simultaneously. A small bird pokemon lay in the sand below, it's wings fully expanded and it's little belly gasped for air. The creature was injured, it's body was scuffed up and bleeding with small wounds. "Whoa! What happened to that pokemon?" Yelled Kay as he darted back down the cliff side and stumbled into the sand, dropping his pole. Thane followed after, climbing down the cliff more carefully than Kay had.

The boys stood over the weakened creature, it was a duck-like and it had a sprig of onion held in its left wing. "It looks injured, maybe it was attacked by another pokemon?" Thane only meant to lend a suggestion to Kay who was now picking up the wounded creature. "Who cares! We gotta hurry and get this thing to Nurse Betty!" Kay then rushed quickly up the cliff side, leaving his fishing pole and Thane behind. Thane ran over and grabbed both poles and began climbing up after.

Boon Island had a small village. The right side of the island was mostly situated by residences, about sixty-five to be exact. They were all crammed closely together and most of the people who lived in them knew each other well. In some cases, they would call it "one big house", since it was usually treated that way. Neighbors weren?t afraid to walk into each other's homes and weren't afraid of a little invasion, it was the way it worked on a small island. In the center of the town was a market place, where fisherman and outsiders came to sell goods to the village people. It was usually cluttered and full of business. To the right of the village sat the docks, which was the main center of commerce for the village. They were quite extensive, and wrapped around almost half of the island. Most of the boats were used for transportation and fishing. Slightly north of the main village sat the Pokemon Center. The center wasn't just for pokemon, as it's name implied. It was used for human purposes too, since the medical equipment was shared with local doctors, because the only hospital was across the vast ocean and it took several days to reach aid when it needed to be done locally.

Some of the villagers stared at the boys who were now running full sprint to the giant-red-pokeball at the edge of town. After a couple of minutes of pure haste they finally arrived. Kay threw open glass door carelessly and darted in. Thane chased after his speedy friend, but before he entered he set both of their fishing poles on the side of the building and then walked in.

Nurse betty stood at the counter, holding the injured pokemon in her hands looking at Kay. She was an older woman, and had been in the profession for a while. She brought the center to the village about ten years back, since it was without any medical facilities. In the last ten years, the whole Seveii Island region had grown modern, but that's a different story.

"So you say that this Farfetch'd flew over your heads in a gust of wind?" She asked Kay who was gasping for air. "Well it's not very windy today which means he was hit by a attack. Did you see the pokemon that attacked it?" Kay thought for a second, "No I didn't," and then turned to Thane for reassurance. Thane approached the counter to give information that obviously his friend couldn't speak in his tired state. "Nah, it kind of came out of nowhere. Not to mention I didn't see any other pokemon or trainers on our way here. It was rather sudden, and I didn't get anytime to investigate with speedy here taking off on me like that"

Nurse Betty set the pokemon down on a soft tray, she then smiled. "The little guy should be okay, He just has a few minor wounds. I'll go give him a treatment, it will only take a few minutes. Oh yeah, Kay could you work on that virus problem for me while you're here? I'd greatly appreciate it." Kay rubbed the back of his head and turned to Thane who was already heading out of the center. "I knew that was coming. So, where you going Thane?" Thane thought for a second and replied, "Probably home, I have nothing else to do. Not to mention, I'm wondering how that pokemon got injured though, it's kind of weird. Maybe I should investigate a little."

Just as Thane was about to exit, the door opened and a young lady stepped in. It was Lilia, Thane and Kay's friend. Lilia was a year older than Thane and she had long pink hair. She wore a tanktop and a long flowered skirt. Upon spotting Thane, she had a distressed look on her beautiful face. "Thane!? What's going on? I saw you and Kay running through town like mad-men," she said in fluent caring voice. Thane smiled, he was surprized to see her here and he felt flattered that she was concerned. "Well, Kay and I were fishing and this pokemon flew out of nowhere. It was injured so we rushed it here. Heroic eh?" Lilia laughed at Thane and then looked around, smiling tword Kay who was now indulging himself on Nurse Betty's computer.

"Oh you don?t seem that concerned, if you're about to leave" Thane felt defensive about her comment; "Well, Nurse Betty said that it'd be okay. I was going to see what happened, a little investigation." Lilia laughed at Thane's excuse, "So couldn't make sure that it got back to it's trainer?" Thane looked at her, she obviously knew something he didn't. "What trainer?" Lilia smirked and then sat down on the bench behind them, crossing her legs and grabbing a magazine that was laying on the coffee table nearby. "Oh so you didn't hear, there was two trainers in town today. Maybe it was one of their pokemon. My little brother saw them battling." It all made sense now to Thane, who sat down next to her. He then threw his legs up on table rudely.

"They'll Probably end up coming here anyways, so no need for me to go hunting them down." Thane and Lilia sat silent for a few moments, she then turned and looked at him. "Thane... why have you been so bitter lately?" Thane turned to her, and stared at her in confusion. As he continued to look into her eyes, his heart melted for her. "Is it because me and Dameon are together? I know he's far away but still I love him. He said that you're Probably jealous, when I spoke to him today." Thane instantly felt anger tword her accusation. "What does Dameon know? I'm definitely not jealous, what makes you think I would ever like you?" Thane's harsh words dug into Lilia, who was surprised that he would say such things. "See what I mean? You're just miserable lately, you'd never be mean to me normally. I also got some news from Dameon, he just received his third badge. He wanted me to tell you. He also said he can't wait to come home to see us all, and told me to ask you how you're doing." Thane listened to what she had to say, but still felt a deep jealousy for his once best friend. "Good for Dameon. Whoopdi Do! Mr. Exciting."

Thane had been angered by Dameon's success, it sucked that he had to waste his life way on Boon Island. The truth was, he longed to be in Dameon's shoes. Thane dreamed of being out there, he dreamed of training a group of pokemong. Thane always wanted to bring home the badge for his island, he wanted to represent his friends. But, instead Dameon was blessed with that gift, he was the one who the whole island was routing for, not Thane.

"You're such a jerk! I thought that you'd be happy to hear about your best friend. I better tell him that you dont even care about him anymore." The truth was, Thane didn't care anymore, "Go ahead, I dont care." Thane stood up, gave her a disgusted look and began to walk twords the door. Just before he could open it, agian the door flew open.

This time a distressed trainer stood, his eyes flashed around the room randomly before settling on Thane. "Are you the kids who found my Farfetch'd? One the villagers said she saw two kids running with a pokemon." The trainer looked around nervously.

"Yes it was me and my buddy Kay over there. We were leaving the beach, and we saw it fly over our heads. Dont worry though, he was only slightly injured and Nurse Betty is taking care of him." The trainer smiled at Thane, he was thankful for their actions. "Thank god, I thought he was a goner. See, I was battling in the grass nearby against this other trainer. His Pidgeotto used Whirlwind on my Farfetch'd and sent him flying. But, with luck it landed near you two, phew. It's a relief to see that he landed in good hands" Thane stood absorbing all of the information he just learned. "Wow, you were battling! Aw man, I missed it." Thane sat down again, next to Lilia. He was interested to see the trainer reunite with his pokemon. Lilia hid her face behind the magazine not making eye contact with the bitter Thane. And she foun interest in new Vileplume perfumes that were out.

A cheer of joy came from Kay who was still typing away at the keyboard. Thane turned his and looked at his blue haired friend. "Did you fix it Kay?" Kay looked up at Thane and gave him a thumbs up, which most likely meant he was close. The door at the far side of the room slid open and Nurse Betty waddled out.

The Trainer hopped to his feet and ran over to the Nurse. "Oh my! Farfetch'd, are you okay little guy." The trainer ripped his precious pokemon from her hands and hugged it. The pokemon cheered with excitement to be reunited with it's trainer. "Far-fettche'd!" The trainer stared at the confused nurse, "Thank you for helping my pokemon. I can't tell you how grateful I am." Nurse Betty stood staring at the trainer with a critical look on her face. "What's your name?" The Trainer turned and looked at her, he was glad to let her know. "My name is Glenn and this is Fetchy! Sorry about all of this trouble. I really didn't expect him to use a whirlwind attack of such force." Nurse Betty then smiled, she knew that the trainer really cared for his pokemon. "Well be more careful next time." Glenn nodded to assure her that he would do his best. "Well I'm off, I have to finish my battle. Later everyone!"

Before Glenn could leave, Thane jumped up from his seat and stood in front of him. "Hey you're gonna go battle? Can I watch?" Glenn smiled at the enthusiastic boy. "Yeah, I don?t mind." Glenn then opened the door, and gave a final wave to Nurse Betty. Thane followed close after, he was interested in the battle like a lost puppy without any food.

Lilia then rose to her feet, she set down the magazine and turned to the main counter where Kay was sitting. "You coming Kay? I want to see this too." Kay looked up from the computer and let out a long sigh. "Yeah, I'll be done in a couple of seconds." Lilia then flipped her soft pink hair behind her ear and started to walk out, she also waved good bye to Nurse Betty. "Bye" Nurse Betty gave her a wave and then approached Kay. "You can go watch the battle, just please fix it later Kay." Kay gave her a gleeful smile and darted from the desk and out the door running after Lilia. "Wait up!"

    I will review it...

I ,honestly, think that you write really good, you give really good descriptions, and that makes that the reader can understand what you're writing.

Oh! and the story is really good! *thumbs up* , it really cathches the reader attention, just a little suggestion: "You coming Kay? I want to see this too." asked Lilia with bla bla bla, I mean more descriptions of how the character says/asks things: "Hello! oh try to guess what I saw today" said Max with a big smile on his face as he walked in the room.

but anyway.... your fanfic is really cool! I'm waiting for your next chapter! =)

no double posting unless you're posting a new chapter... =.=

Okay...well...I find it fine but just a bit to improve:

The usage of names will make the reader bored. Try using pronouns such as he, she, etc. The first paragraph just bored me a bit because the same named just got repeated over and over agan. The description seems fine for me. And I suggest making a new paragraph when a new dialogue is being made.

Okay, I'll work on those things. I plan to get a new chapter out real soon, thank you very much for the reviews. :D
