That attack-type combination should cover all opposing types with at least 1x damage.

    Yes but it does but

    Sceptile (M) @ Petaya Berry ** Recruit #6
    Trait: Overgrow
    EVs: 6 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Hidden Power [Ice]
    - Leaf Blade
    - Substitute
    - Thunderpunch

is more often supereffective and magneton and lanturn aren't enough to use the Dragon Claw/HP Fire combo.

No point using Sub if you're not going to stall with Leech Seed, IMO.

    Sceptile @ Petaya Berry
EV: 6 HP, 252 Speed, 252 Sp Att
    Nature: + Speed/Sp Att, - Att
    Leaf Blade
    Crunch/Thunderpunch/Leech Seed/Quick Attack
    HP Ice/Fire
    Dragon Claw/Substitute

Despite the n00bish look of the EVs, it's the best setup for Sceptile. Max speed + Timid makes you equal with Timid Dugtrio and Alakazam, but Zam will probably barely survive Crunch and Duggy falls easily to Leaf Blade.

i have sub so i can block para and get free hits when they switch and a high chance of activating petaya berry... leech seed is a waste of a slot IMO as id rather sweep and get it over with then stall for 100 turn battles

    - Leech Seed

This set works. I killed a cornered bliss with it, the leech seed with the sub worked wonders. Then I just leaf bladed it because my net gain was more than seimic toss, and I subbed everyonce in a while.

    try it =D

leech seed just lets you stall them down to a point where you can sweep them....
