    Hi all

Just signed up to this forum after reading it for about the past week. I have loved pokemon since the day it came out on the telly and gt pokemon red and blue as soon as they came out, and then silver and gold, but then i had people telling me i was a bit old so i sort of laid low about it for a while. but now after watching the diamond and pearl series every afternoon with my little brother im hooked again, at 17 :P haha

But there has been one question that has always annoyed me, i have alway wanted it answered. What would pikachus level be in the anime? What would you guys think it would be?

At the beginning of the first season there was an episode named 'School of hard knocks' and there was a girl in there, who said Pikachu must be on level 25... Now we are in the eleventh season, so Pikachu must be at level...2.345...^^ (just kidding) It must have a high level now. Maybe 85-90.

You'd figure Pikachu would be level 100 by now, huh?

At least thats what I'd think..
However, the anime doesn't seem to go by 'levels'. The Pokemon in the anime can grow stronger, and learn more attacks, but levels aren't really brought into play. You can tell alot of times with Pikachu, especially.. because it can lose to some really weak opponents at times.

If levels were taken into consideration, Pikachu would have little or no chance of losing some of the battles that it has.

It also seems to re-start almost, at the start of every new 'adventure' Ash goes on.

    This is opinion, of course..

Suppose Pikachu would be beaten by a powerfull gymleader, what kind of level would that Pokemon have? 200?

The writers tried to convert the entire game concept with stats, levels attackpoints and everything else into an anime. This is why levels were mentioned.
Halfway through the anime I guess the writers ditched that idea. Remember the episode "Wired for Battle"? There was this trainer who used his laptop to analyze his opponents. If levels still existed back then he would most certainly bring it up, but he didn't.

Either that, or they didn't want the show to become another Dragonball Z. You know, 'It's over nine-THOUSAAAAAAAND!!!'.

Not to mention they basically level Pikachu down whenever Ash goes to a new Region anyway. Otherwise, Paul would be a total pushover instead of actually being a challenge for Ash to defeat (not to mention the Gym Leaders).

Pokemon in the series just have there normal strengeths and weaknesses, and don't "level up" as they do in the games but they do get experance and learn from there battles, as for Pikachu they have to water him down at the start of each series as otherwise almost all battles would be OHKO matches which would be boring where as watching a fullon intence battle (or failing that the battle's they normally have in the anime), is more exciting and also makes the world in the anime seem a little more "real" as it make it feel like the Trainers really have been training and not just sat around twiddling there thumbs while waiting for Ash and Pikachu to come allong and battle then.
