    Let's throw a nice little art contest into the mix!

    Harry Potter + Pokemon theme? Interesting.

    I want to keep this one simple, so I'm not going to be doing multi category/multi media entires. One art style and stick with it, either painting or pixel art. Pixel art could have a subcategory of pixel edits to help out with anyone being able to participate, but I wonder if HP themes would be better in painting. But also that's more of a paint, so pixel art will probably be the best bet in the end.

    Little sad the houses will be per quiz, and not chosen, so can't really implement a theme that deals with house pride of art of the mascot pokemon, since some might not particularly enjoy their placing. Magic as a theme in general might be nice, depending on how much we're leaning on HP, or it's just an excuse to divide by houses. Either way, I feel like it should be incorporated into the art contest somehow.

    I think I've narrowed it down to something that would be nice!

    Pokemon Evolution Pixel Contest - Making a pixel art design for an evolution somewhere in the line of an already existing pokemon line. Can be pre evo, a third evo, split evo or even a mid evolution, but giving people free reign to design something new, but able to take inspiration from elsewhere.

    1st 2nd and 3rd take into account overall design creativity, innovation, technical quality, original work vs sprite edits etc for it's places. There's three honorable mentions/sub category wins I'd like to have, those being

    House Evolution - Best work that makes an evolution based on a house mascot.
    Sprite Edit - Best work using sprite editing (so some rookies to pixel art but are still creative can have some fun)
    ??? Bad Egg - Wild card, something that is very interesting discovered in the course of the contest.

    I think the point split should be
    120 / 80 / 50 for 1st 2nd 3rd
    and honorable should be 20 points each. The question I have, is that should the honorable mentions be able to double dip? Hmm

    EDIT: Ok Aaron can read now. I reckon that it could influence what people do in their work, if there's the extra points to grab. I would say no to the double dip but it might not necessarily matter heaivly either way.

    I guess there's no point in double dipping since the 3rd place amount is higher than any honorable mention, so it's not like you could "miss out" on a certain category by getting in the overall ranking.

    I should have a final draft around tomorrow night. Just gotta get the majority of this work week over.
     
    PIXEL EVO CHALLENGE​


    Objective

    Create a 80 x 80 pixel artwork of a new evolution design of a prexisting pokemon. The goal of this challenge is to riff off of known pokemon to create a new design with your own twist! You don't have to adhere to the normal evolution logic of the existing games at all. Create a split evo for a split evo, an evo of an eeveelution, or a 4th evo, it doesn't matter. Same goes for mega!


    Judging

    I will be judging entries based on both artistic skill, as well as creativity of the design or problem solving of the designs. Sprite edits are allowed! Just mark them as such.

    In addition, there will be special honorable mention categories! The categories being...

    House Evolution Category is making an evolution somewhere in our House Mascot's line. These being Ampheros, Arcanine, Espeon, and Hawlucha. It doesn't have to be your own house, you can which ever.

    Sprite Edit Category is to give a chance for edits to shine, as there are still some very masterful things you can do with edits!

    ??? Category is a mystery!! You're not going to get to know what it is till it happens. : ) Think of it as the mario bonus stars.

    Points are distributed as such
    1st / 2nd / 3rd / HM / HM / HM
    120 / 80 / 50 / 20 / 20 / 20    ​

    Rules

    1. Use only your own artwork, created for this contest.
    2. Enter by submitting one 80x80 .png in a post here by the 28th. Edit your original post if you wish to update before the deadline.
    3. There is no numbered color restrictions, but try and keep it within HGSS style.
    4. All Pokecommunity Rules Apply
