5th Gen Planning on starting BW, any tips?

    Hello everyone, currently I'm busy with studying and other games, but I plan on playing the Gen V games on my phone (or laptop, not sure). I was wondering which game I should play, my friend played B2 as her first Pokemon game and she loved it and going through the same region twice (playing both BW and B2W2) sounds a little tiring. Also, any general tips and such for the games?

    Black and White first. That's definitely the one you want to play first. Events of B2W2 will be even MORE enhanced by playing the first games. Trust me it's worth it :')

    Personally I don't think you NEED the second games as much as the first (as the stories are enhanced in the second games and not necessarily left hanging in the first). But defs up to you though. Gotta start with the originals no doubt though!

    General tips... you will struggle with Snivy as a starter in B2W2 in particular. Oh and battle Audino... but that's probably super obvious!!
     
    but snivy is so badass later on. all that speed and hp recovery.
     
    fire, lots of fire helps, and dragon moves.

    ...for the final battles that is.
     
    Alright; as a Gen 5 Enthusiast; let me say this. You'll enjoy Black and White (Which assuming by your post, you haven't tried either.) over Black and White 2 earlier on, and I say this because you won't really understand some of the points of Black and White 2 without the originals; the unique thing about Gen 5 was when they did BW2; they actually expanded the story of BW a little bit; sure, you aren't the same character as before, but it's rather cool how they handled this generation if you ask me.

    So yeah; Black and White over Black and White 2 first, alternatively -- Watching a play-through of the originals would be just as good as playing the originals in preparation for BW2. Up to you though.

    Some of the best tips I can provide for you; Depending on which one you pick, Snivy will usually be the slowest and most challenging to use early one but by the time you get further on the game, it will be the best, hands down. People don't often like Snivy, but it's literally the most versatile out of the three. Obviously as people stated above, if you're in need of some great exp, find an Audino and faint it, they give a TON of EXP.

    If you play the originals, be on your type awareness guard.
     
    Originals are best imo. You're playing the game like the creators intended. After you can play those versions but I think there's nothing better than starting your Unova journey with the originals.

    Blaze Black/Volt White is the better version of Original BW. But it's not suggested if you haven't played the original BW as you won't be able to know which Gen V Pokémon is good and which is bad.

    You really shouldn't play BlazeBlack/VoltWhite first. Aside from being better than the originals, they are really, really hard.

    Onto the originals, though.

    Yes, you should play BW before BW2 because as stated, a lot of things in BW2 will happen that you won't really understand unless you've played the first games.

    Picking the starters, once again, is no easy choice. Snivy is the fastest out of the three, but i prefer using it in BW2 due to its expanded movepool thanks to Move Tutors, Serperior being able to be tutored various moves like Aqua Tail, Dragon Pulse, Iron Tail, and even Outrage. Combine some of that with Coil and you have yourself a fast, lethal sweeper.

    Moving on to Oshawott. Samurott might actually look like a super strong physical sweeper, but his Sp. Atk is actually bigger than his Attack. But then again, Samurott kind of goes both ways. With 100 Attack and 108 Sp. Attack, it can easily work with both Physical and Special moves. You'll have to hold on to Razor Shell/Water Pulse a lot until you get Surf, which is obtained only after getting the 6th badge. Your Samurott should be level 36-41 somewhere until then. About move sets, i can't really help you. I suggest you get Surf/Aqua Tail, Blizzard and Megahorn on it. The last move can be anything you want.

    On to Tepig, everyone's least favorite Gen 5 starter. Guys, look. Emboar isn't bad. People always think "ugh, another Fire/Fighting type starter, he must suck", but that's not true. Yes, i agree he's the worst Fire/Fighting starter, but he works quite fine for Gen 5. With its 123 Attack and 100 Sp. Atk, it works better than Samurott as a Mixed Sweeper, although i prefer using only Physical moves. All my Emboars are equipped with a set of Head Smash, Wild Charge, Flare Blitz and Hammer Arm. Flare Blitz is obtained at level 62, so you'll have to settle with either Heat Crash or Flamethrower. Head Charge is learned at level 50, your Pokemon will probably be around that level nearing the end of the game. Hammer Arm can be learned via Move Reminder in Mistralton City.

    Give me an idea of what kind of team you want and i'll help you with it.
     
    First off, train on Audino around a doctor, especially on Victory Road. ;) Saves time and gets levels!!

    Secondly, Ive kind of used all three and depending on what you want they can all be good. Samurrott is so fun and beautiful?? Emboar is amazing and cool and hits things harder than most. And Serperior... I had a Serperior in White 2 solo the Champ?? All are great! It comes down to opinions and the other teammates you wanna use. Ps, Chandelure is amazing. Garboder and Stunfisk are a lot better than people say too, especially Stunfisk.
     
    Well , Gen 5 is not my favorite in terms of story line (the game part) , I have been playing it as I enjoy its map and I cant afford a 3DS .
    The common tip which I would like to point out is that you should keep a balanced team , i.e. if you have suppose 6 pokemon in your team , then they should be mostly of different types and abilities which would be beneficial and they should be equal in level .
    One healer should always be present too .
