Hi all, new member here. Its been an awfully long time since I played pokemon, my last and only one was Yellow, back when everything was colourless. Played it for a long time, but stopped when GenII was out. Anyway, I recently chanced on news on the new Black and White, decided to check up on the latest happenings.

I was thinking about getting HG first, considering how its what I'm most familiar with, with new additions. Plus it has the most pokemon available from each generation without needing to trade or own previous games. I intend to get Platinum later on, its rather the one I would start with but can't help missing out on the GenI and II pokemons. But was wondering if I could just trade from HG to Platinum. But is there anything that is required? Can I just transfer immediately when starting Platinum?

I understand the global wi-fi thing in Platinum enables me to get any possible pokemon as well, but I rather complete HG, obtaining the pokemon and just transfer it over to Platinum.

    Thanks in advance!

Hello, and welcome! All you need to trade from HG to Platinum is 2 DS's :D Get yourself to the 1st pokecenter and away you go. As for buying HG 1st, solid choice. I would only recommend buying platinum if you just wanna see all the Gen 4 Pokemon, Most of them are available in HG/SS anyways. Gonna be some big changes for ya coming from Yellow, enjoy it! Any more questions feel free to ask, lots of helpful people around here. :D

Hi! Thank you for the reply! Sounds good, although 2 DS's seem awfully $$$. But no worries thanks! Really excited to get to the whole new pokemon system. Been reading and you're right, there are tons of new changes! :)

Do any of your friends/relatives have a DS you can borrow?
