Okay, well, for mixed sweeper Salamence, Lonely isn't too bad. However, a pure special sweeping Salamence (Modest nature with Choice Specs, often called "Specsmence") is a real beast. Not even Blissey can live up to him on occasion.

Now, onto Gengar... I don't advise items like Wiseglasses too much, I think it could be better filled with Leftovers or a Salac Berry. Also, don't go with Haze; Gengar is too fragile to be a Hazer, leave that to the walls (Weezing is by far one of the best Hazers). Also, a Gengar without Thunderbolt is like a day without sunshine. So we're left with this, my personal favourite Gengar set:

    Gengar @ Leftovers/Salac Berry
    Timid Nature (-Atk, +Speed)
    EVs: 252 SpAtk, 252 Speed, 6 HP
    - Shadow Ball
    - Thunderbolt
    - Energy Ball/Hypnosis
    - Focus Blast/Hypnosis

The last two are completely up to preference... Hypnosis is a good debilitating move, but its risky with its poor accuracy. Focus Blast also, but when it does hit, it even does some serious damage to a Blissey. Energy Ball is mainly for taking out Ground types, in particular Swampert (since Thunderbolt takes care of all other waters). Plan is: you switch in on an Earthquake, Gengar is unaffected. And if your opponent is too stupid to switch out, watch Swampert get OHKOed.

The item is also up to preference: Leftovers might allow him to live longer, but his defenses are really nothing to admire, and often a single good physical move will put him in the red, and that's where the Salac Berry comes in; raises his Speed, and allows him to pwn even faster than before, probably even outrunning Alakazam, who would otherwise always beat him.
