Alright, right now my pokemon have horrible movesets. I made the mistake of using HMs, I know, dumb right? So currently I am in the process of beating the Elite Four. I will take any suggestions on Natures, movesets, or the pokemon entirely. I will not change it right now, but I will once I get the national dex. This is just for future reference. Seeing as I am going to work on my team after I aquire the National Dex, feel free to suggest pokemon from any game, except XD or ranger. I also dont know what items to give them, so please help. Thanks in advance.

    WAT TEH EFF!?

Okay, if you want a good team, you have to follow some guidelines.

    - NEVER put two attacks of the same element on one moveset. Its just a waste. For Example, Waterfall and Aqua Tail should NEVER be on the same set. I saw that on your Empoleon with Surf and Brine. Please, only one water move.

    - Moves like Fly, Dig, and Dive are epic failure. It gives the opponent a free chance to charge, heal, prepare, and switch. DO NOT USE.

    - Every sturdy team needs at least 1 physical sweeper, 1 special sweeper, 1 special wall, 1 physical wall, and the options of a Tank, Cleric, PHazer, Spikespinner, Baton Passer etc. So far, I have seen not one physical or special wall, nor have I seen anything mentioned above besides tank.

    - Pay attention to a pokemon's stats. Find which stat is at its strongest point. For instance, Roserade's Special Attack stat is very high so it can be considered as a Special Sweeper. Its Attack stat is very low. You know that right off the hook, Roserade should use only Special Attacks and no Physical Attacks.

    - YOU NEED good EVs, IVs, and Natures to set up a healthy battle. They can make a huge difference in the damage you do to your opponent.

    - Watch your weaknesses, you don't want to lose to only one type of pokemon.

Thanks, I didnt even think of worrying about EVs or IVs. I will definately work on them.

Well, Elite Four, EVs and IVS, you dont have to care, just because, well its too late now! Some things are to get rid of the bad HMs on your team in Canalve City, and replace them with good TM moves.

    Weavile@Life Orb

    - Night Slash
    - Ice Punch
    - Aerial Ace
    - Brick Break

    Staraptor@Life Orb

    - Return / Double-Edge
    - Close Combat
    - Brave Bird
    - U-turn

    - Night Slash/Pursuit

    - Aerial Ace/Ice Shard

oh believe me.. you'll need Ice Shard..

    [Emploeon] @ Life Orb
    Nature: Modest
    EVs: 72 HP / 184 Spd / 252 SAtk
Ability: Torrent (no choice there, really)
    - Surf/ Hydro Pump
    - Ice Beam
    - Grass Knot
    - Agility

Oh my, what a set you had. (No offense or anything).
As Azonic stated above... Dig = Epic fail.
Flash Cannon is meh; although it gets STAB, but steel is a horrid attacking type and you won't be hitting much for super-effective damage anyway.

    [Roserade] @ Choice Specs
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 4 HP/ 252 SpAtk/ 252 Spd
    Ability: Natural Cure
    - Leaf Storm/Leech Seed
    - Sludge Bomb
    - Hidden Power [Fire]
    - Energy Ball/Shadow Ball

Don't use Cut, please. On any Competitive Pokemon.

Ugh, I've never used a Lucario strangely enough and I'm not sure how it goes. I'll try.

    [Lucario] @ Choice Band
    Nature: Jolly/Adamant
    EVs: 252 Atk/252 Speed/ 4 Def
    Ability: Steadfast
    - Close Combat
    - Stone Edge
    - Crunch
    - Blaze Kick

    ...yeah.

    Empoleon-Modest/Bold/Calm@Leftovers
    Ice Beam
    Agility
    Surf
    Stealth Rock/Grass Knot

How to start.....first you had a turn attacking move and to make that worse it was Physical. Then you had to types of the same moves.FAIL.This should work better.

    Staraptor-Jolly @?
    Aerial Ace
    U-Turn
    Close Combat
    Whirlind????
Not really sure how to work one of these(ive never trained one)but same goes on what i said about empoleon.2 of the same moves and two turn attacks.

    Lucario-Timid @?
    Vacuum Wave/Close Combat
    Blaze Kick
    Earthquake/Bulk Up/Stone Edge
    Extreme Speed

Im pretty sure this is how it goes....i think

    Roserade-Timid @?
    Armotherapy/Toxic Spikes/Extrasensory
    Sludge Bomb
    Energy Ball
    Stun Spore/Sleep Powder
Roserade has Physical???FAIL.Go with this better.

    Mismagus-Timid @?
    Energy Ball
    Psychic
    Shadow Ball
    Thunderbolt
    Same as above.

    Weavile-Jolly @?
    Night Slash
    Ice Punch
    Brick Break
    Fake out/X-scissors
You had everything wrong on this.

Sorry to say this but this team would FAIL!!!you have 2 turn attack moves and those just FAIL.You have moves on pokes that dont go with them.
Ex.Mismagus with Payback(physical)when it should have Sp.Attack moves on it.(Thunderbolt!!)Weavile aslo fails...Roserade fails, Staraptor, and Empoleon.Well thats pretty much your whole team.
And you have no tank or wall...you need pokes that can take HITS.
Well i hope you never go into WIFI battles with this team...This team that you have should ONLY be for ingame purposes.

Whirlwind on staraptor = fail. you see, it always goes last, so you leave staraptor open to a OHKO...for future reference...

Thanks, these movesets r really good. I read that my team doent have tanks or walls, should I just change the Pokemon completely? I need a team for my next game. Remember u can add any other gen pokemon, too.

Good news, I beat the Elite Four (turned out to be The Weak Four). Now I am looking for a competitive team. Please help me. Thanks!

Well, you can start by choosing a better variety of pokemon instead of the pokemon from D/P.

Like, Gengar probably does a better job than Mismagius.

    O.K. what about Swampert?
    Modest @leftovers
    Earthquake
    Ice Beam
    Protect
    Surf

Modest Swampert destroys it. Its strong point is Attack and Modest weakens its Attack stat.

Impish Nature or Adamant Nature should work

    Swampert@Leftovers
    Trait: Torrent
    Nature: Impish
    EVs: 252 HP / 172 Attack / 80 Defense
    - Waterfall
    - Icebeam / Avalanche
    - Earthquake
    - Curse / Rest

I suppose it can go in place of Empoleon.

O.K. Uhh one more thing, do you know a good moveset for Lucario?

Modest Swampert destroys it. Its strong point is Attack and Modest weakens its Attack stat.

    Swampert@Leftovers

Physical swampert, even one with ice beam, is fairly easy to wall. Cursepert (at least in 3rd gen) is near obsolete, and mixpert REALLY is better. also, it should be noted swampert doesn't really need all that attack, and it almost always runs relaxed over impish.
