SIGN-UPS ARE CLOSED AND THE RP HAS STARTED.

Hello everyone! It's been months since I've RPed last, let alone written one myself, so I hope this goes over alright. I'm sorry it's so long, but there's a lot going on. It's intentionally vague, because there are a lot of underlying connections that will reveal themselves as the RP goes on, but if you're confused about something, please PM me. It shouldn't be too vague. =P So without further ado...

    The End.

    Plot

    The Beginning

Six unlikely friends found each other in Sinnoh. They were inexplicably drawn together, like moths to a flame, despite the vast differences in personality and character. It was as if their threads of fate were so irreversibly tangled that they couldn't help being apart.
Still, each young adult was as different as the next. They all had unique personas, opinions, and ambitions. Sometimes they fought amongst themselves. Sometimes relationships sprouted up, along with rivalries and grudges. Some friends were closer than others, and at times it seemed almost against their will that they were together. Regardless, they always ended up in a single group in the end, even if it took weeks or months.
On one such occasion, and when the more negative feelings among them was at a low point, they decided to explore the area around Snowpoint City together. Rumors had been stirring about Lake Acuity more than usual. It was general understanding that a legendary, one-of-a-kind pokemon lived there, but recently sightings of the creature had exploded.
Together they set up camp near the lake, despite a harsh snowstorm picking up. By the time all the tents were anchored and warm, everyone was ready to rest, and so they settled in for the night.

    The End
It was a few days before the news hit the media. A massive avalanche had crashed down near Lake Acuity, taking a chunk of the lakeside down into the lake itself. It was too dangerous to search for evidence of injury, but soon they began to make themselves clear; camping gear, tattered and shredded tent material, soggy provisions... they began to float up to the surface or wash up along the shore of the lake.
Later investigations confirmed six teens were missing.
Later search efforts were never able to find six bodies.
Later assumptions wrote off six lives as lost.

    The Beginning
In a region unpronounceable to human tongues, six pokemon suddenly found themselves conscious and without any memories of a previous existence... at least, none that made sense. They found themselves alone in a world completely unknown to them, a missing past, and no concept of a future. Well... they weren't entirely alone.
Soon, as moths to a flame, they will find each other. As if their threads of fate are irreversibly tangled, they will connect on a deeper level than any of them can understand. And together, they will journey through this strange world, and try to find a reason for their unlikely existence.

    PMD: The End. (PG-13)

    Key
    Blue | Water
    Green | Grassland/Light Forrest
Dark Green | Heavy Rain Forrest
    Brown | Mountain
    White | Snow
    Tan | Dessert/Beach
    Red Dot | Surviving Settlement
    Maroon Dot | Abandoned/Dead Settlement

This small region is in the same "universe" as the other regions in the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. However, unlike the others, this region is largely isolated from the rest of the world, even in terms of the catastrophes that affected the other regions. For example, the Time Gears had no effect here, and Temporal Tower's near collapse wasn't even heard of here until months after it occurred. Now, however... danger has begun to creep into this region as well.
The region, though it has a name, is known in short as the "Waterland". In addition to being completely surrounded by water, it has several large lakes and rivers that run through the mainland. Even the parched dessert southlands have respectable reservoirs.
The lake that surrounds the only red dot on the map is where the only surviving "civilized" pokemon live together.
The lake that is directly below that area is where the main characters all wake up. This is the starting point of the RP.
More locations will be added to the map as they are "discovered" by the characters.

    The Disaster
All across the region, there used to be civilized settlements, much like Treasure Town. They were communities where a variety of pokemon lived and worked together to prosper. The region was becoming a united nation of trade and exploration. Some pokemon even journeyed long distances from the other regions to settle here.
There was a point in time, however, when things began to go terribly wrong. Pokemon within the communities were becoming inexplicably savage, losing the power to speak and rationalize... these isolated incidents quickly took over entire communities, and eventually towns that were once considered gold mines of knowledge were reduced to rubble as their inhabitants fled to the wilderness.
This phenomena became even more terrifying when it was discovered to be contagious. It spread like wildfire over the region, and no one seemed to know what was causing it. Those affected had no bite marks, no scratches, no symptoms of brainwash... it was as if they simply stopped functioning.
To make matters worse, evolution seemed to freeze, as it had in the other regions. Pokemon who tried to evolve to become stronger found themselves stuck in a weaker body, more susceptible to attacks. Soon the only way for them to even have a chance of survival was to group together in large packs... even though they knew this put all of them at a greater risk for spreading this strange "disease".
Time is now at the present. All previous settlements have been destroyed or abandoned except for a single large community where most of the "civilized" pokemon live. The whole inland peninsula is heavily protected and guarded, with pokemon patrolling all borders constantly. The rest of the region has reverted back to a wilderness state. "Wild" pokemon roam the lands, primitive and violent, attacking anything that disturbs them. Other pokemon brave the dangerous areas as well. Some were banned from the gated and strict community. Some left of their own accord to try and discover a cause behind the strange disease. And there is a group-- a small, little-known group-- who are out there searching for the legendaries. Shortly after the outbreaks started, all signs of legendary pokemon who previously visited or inhabited the island vanished. The hope was that they had escaped to other regions to search for a cure, but a fear was growing amongst the population that they too had fallen victim to the curse.

    Characters

    Main Characters

    • There are six main characters in the group of friends who turn into pokemon. As humans, they were close, but they didn't always get along. Some of them may have only been connected through a single person or reason. There may have been rivalries, romance, backstabbing... the usual things that happen amongst large groups. They were male and female, some were trainers, some weren't... etc.
    • When they turn into pokemon, all memories of their human lives are lost. They don't even remember being human, although they may remember their name. However, some of them may have retained fragments of memories concerning each other. For example, a pair that was dating in their human lives might feel a very strong connection to each other, while two who had severe rivalries might be inherently harsh or cruel with each other. Some may not remember anything at all. It's different for everyone.
    • For an unknown reason, all of them are immune to the "savage" disease. Any amount of contact or association with a "wild" pokemon will never infect them.
    Other Characters

    • Uxie and other legendaries will eventually make appearances.
    • NPCs include both "wild" and normal pokemon.

    Rules

    1. Powerplaying, godmodding, etc. is not allowed, as usual.
    2. Please, unless it's absolutely necessary, keep your posts to under 4 large paragraphs. If it's your intro post or something like that, fine, but when everyone is posting essay-size descriptions it simply slows down the RP too much.
    3. Along with that, however, one paragraph (3-5 sentences) is expected per post. Dialogue posts can run on the lower end of that, but please no one-liners.
    4. Good grammar and punctuation are a must, as are good descriptions. No one's perfect, heaven knows I'm not, but please try your best.
    5. NPCs, any "wild" or normal pokemon that are not legendaries, can be controlled by anyone for whatever reasonable purposes they need to fulfill.
    6. Don't break the rules of the world unless you PM me and explain why you want to. This still does not guarantee permission. This includes things like your character getting infected or evolving when it has been stated that neither of these is possible.
    7. If you want your character to be in a relationship with another character, whether it is romantic, close friendship, rivalry, anything besides a regular friendship, you must have the approval of the person who owns the character. Both of your characters must be previously accepted. PM me once you get it sorted out, and you'll have the chance to modify your character's profiles to accommodate anything related to that change.
    8. These rules may be updated at any time. I will try to let everyone know when they are. Otherwise, new rules will be in bold.
    9. Have fun! I hope these don't seem too restrictive. It's really a very open-ended RP. If you have questions or suggestions about anything, PM me. =)

    Accepted Characters
    Raydin
    Age: 16
    Gender: Male
    Pokemon: Larvitar
Defining Characteristics: While from a distance raydin may seem like an Average larvitar, up close there are obvious differences. Under Raydin's eyes for example, his black markings Go down to the bottom of his face, thus giving the appearance that his face has been divided into thirds. Raydin is missing armor Scales on his left arm as well. These missing scales are the translation of a scar from his previous human life. The spike located in the center of his head is sharpened to a point. Raydin's tail, instead of branching off in all directions, is a small ball that contains score marks in it. It is almost as if his tail had started segmenting, but hadn't started yet.
Personality: Although most who see him at a glance wouldn't believe this, Raydin is a seasoned fighter. He tends to use his fists to solve his problems rather than talk them out. Whenever he's confronted about this, he just shrugs and says, "It got me this far didn't it?" Aside from his fighting tendencies, Raydin does have a good side...Sort of. Due to his pugilistic tendencies, most people tend to shie away from him. This often makes him angry, or depressed because he really wants to have good friends. While most people are afraid of him, he does have a few friends, true friends that would stick by him no matter what. He would die for them, and they would die for him.
History: Though it was shortened, Raydin's time as a human was rather...memorable. He grew up in a small town, with a small family and a pathetically tiny house. His father was a boxer that made too little money. He was in the low leagues, unable to defeat those that blocked his path to greatness. He passed many great techniques onto his son, teaching him everything he knew, with the hope that Raydin might carry out his dream. As Raydin became better and better at the sport, his need for violence grew. He began to pick fights everywhere, at school, in the park, even with his own dad. People began to fear him, and he was left with a great lack of friendship. This only increased his rage. It wasn't until he found Jason, that things began to look up.
Jason was the only person at Raydin's age that could best him in combat. Raydin ran into him in the park one day and decided to fight him. In the end, the two were lying in the grass, with bloody faces and knuckles. They also had a smile on their faces. It was at this point that things began to look up for Raydin. He began to pick fights (slightly) less, and he made a few more friends. Then...He vanished.
Other Info: Raydin loves to fight, draw, read, and play videogames. He hates cats and goes out of his way to chase them.

    Devi
    Age: 18
    Gender: Female
    Pokemon: Gible; Dex #443
    Defining Characteristics:
    Image
As a Gible, Devi is a bit different. Unlike a Gible's usual turquoise-like markings, Devi's are a snowy white and her arms are snowy white as well – like gloves. Her belly is not like a usual Gible's where a Gible's would be a mix between pink and red, Devi's is blood red. She also has golden eyes and a scar above her left eye after an accident she had with a Shelgon when she was human.
Personality: Devi was always very sassy yet quiet when she was human, and that personality has transferred over to her being a Gible. Her sassy attitude is one of her negative qualities where she would just blow someone off because she thinks she too good for them. This would get other people extremely angry. But her being sassy is her only negative quality – Devi is usually, when in a good mood, is a very caring person. She won't make friends easy and she gets very anxious and quickly angered around others, but if you are friends, Devi cares for you with her life. It's a friends-for-life attitude for Devi – whoever her friend is will remain her friend into the next life she has. She is caring toward all Pokemon and her old Pokemon team which consisted of her Espeon (her first Pokemon that she shared a psychic connection with), her Crobat, her Lairon, her Sneasel, and her Turtwig. She would even care for other Pokemon, even if they were wild.
History: Devi was born in Oreburgh City and lived there until she was seventeen with her Eevee, but when she was thirteen she was trapped by a wild Shelgon which gave her her scar over her left eye. Her Eevee evolved to protect her. After Espeon helped Devi, the two decided to go out on a journey where she captured her first Pokemon, a tiny Zubat and raised it up. She doesn't collect badges, but only travels to sight-see and raise her team and possibly help others. All her Pokemon that later joined her team (Lairon, Sneasel, and Turtwig) all joined because they wanted to. Devi cared for them and they later evolved to show they cared for her.
When Devi met the five others, she became friends with them instantly. She felt that she belonged with them no matter what happened. And when the six of them decided to go out on a camping trip by Lake Acuity, Devi held her suspicions, but reluctantly agreed, but she didn't realize that her life would soon come to a close as a human… well, for now…
Other Info: Her song is "Manic Star" by "Conjure One" + "Smashdown" by "TFK"
    Jasmine "Jazz"
    Age: 17
    Gender: Female
    Pokemon: Mareep #179
Defining Characteristics: One of the major differences between Jazz and most other Mareep is the fact that the orb on her tail is not orange, as per usual, but instead a light blue color, the same shade as her legs and face. Another difference is that her eyes, instead of being black, like most other Mareep, is a dark cerulean color, akin to the color it was when she was human. Finally, she has a pair of white stripes that run horizontally parallel to each other on the top of her snout.
Personality: Jasmine is probably one of the most headstrong and determined people you will ever meet. She doesn't take no for an answer, and if you get into an argument with her? Well, good luck with that. Jazz is as stubborn as a mule, and as far as she's concerned, she is always always right. Even when she's wrong, she's right. It is pointless to argue with her. Aside from that, Jazz tends to be a rather outspoken person. She's not shy in any way, shape or form, which is why Mareep seems like a kind of odd choice for her transformation. Timid is pretty much the last thing that anyone would ever consider Jasmine - although, one trait that she does share in common with the pokemon is her electric nature. She is quick to make decisions, and quick to act on them as well. Her temper is short, and in her pokemon form, electricity has a scary tendency to start crackling around her fur when she gets upset.
History: Jasmine was born in Sunyshore City, the oldest out of five children. Her parents were researchers at a nearby lab, and were therefore not home very often. Unfortunately for Jazz, this meant that she was often stuck with the job of taking care of her siblings, which was something that she resented. It wasn't that she didn't love her brothers and sisters - it was just painful for her, watching her childhood friends slowly leave her to go on journeys, while she was forbidden to go herself. Well that, and the little monsters had a tendency to drive her insane. But anyway, she had to contend herself with simply watching others go off to achieve their dreams, while she was stuck at home.
One day while Jasmine was watching her siblings down at the beach, she met a local boy named Leo. They quickly became friends, and often Leo would help Jazz look after her siblings when she was busy. They both wanted to be trainers when they got older, and decided that when they were old enough, they would travel together. Unfortunately, this dream came to a halt by the time that they were thirteen. Leo was leaving on a journey of his own, and Jasmine couldn't go with him, because of her duty to her younger brothers and sisters.
For years after, Jasmine had to content herself with staying in Sunyshore, watching her old friends and classmates drift away. However, by the time she was seventeen, she had finally had enough. After all, Jasmine has never been one content with simply sitting around when there are opportunities to be had. By Jazz's seventeenth birthday, the next oldest of her sisters, Kate, was sixteen, and therefore old enough to watch the younger children. With Kate's blessing, Jasmine snuck away one night to chase her dream as a pokemon trainer.
Of course, it's tough to be a trainer when you have no pokemon. For a few months, Jazz simply wandered her way around Sinnoh, pokemonless, until she stumbled upon the house of an old family friend. Her 'aunt', as Jazz knew her, took pity on the poor girl, and gave her a Swablu named Fluff to help her on her journey. From there, Jasmine improved her skills by tenfold, catching fifteen more pokemon in the next week alone. A few months after that, she challenged her first gym - the one belonging to Roark, the rock-type specialist. She easily defeated him, although by that victory, she also gained something a little more important. On her way out of the gym that day, she happened to pass by her old friend Leo. Upon recognizing each other, they got to talking and in the end, decided to travel around together. It wasn't long before the pair realized how they felt about one another, and before long, they were a couple. They were still together when they traveled to Snowpoint City on that fateful day...
Other Info: I could see Jazz maybe having a sort of love/hate relationship with another character, if anyone's interested. Maybe a friendly rival who has a tendency to get on Jasmine's nerves, and vice versa. (:

    Issac
    Age: 17
    Gender: Male
Pokemon: Cubone (Lot of ground types huh?)
Defining Characteristics: Like every other cubone, he wears a skull mask that conceals his face from everybody else. The cracks on the sides of the skull (which are supposed to be tear marks) aren't there. Since issac has only just transformed into a pokemon, He wouldn't have a mother who would have supposedly died on birth. The skull a cubone wears is supposed to be the skull of their mother, but since issac doesn't have a Pokemon as a mother, It would have to belong to someone else... His stomach, Unlike other cubones, Is also a darker brown color.
Personality: Issac is extremely mischievous and a real troublemaker at that. His way of doing things is the "now or never" style. And that nearly cost him when he was a human, and it still may, even as a pokemon. At the same time, Issac has an extremely huge ego. Most of the time he'll care for himself and nobody else, another aspect that made it hard for people to respect him at all. It made him a real loner which could explain why he was reborn as a "lonely pokemon". Despite his ego, He'll care for close friends and only close friends. If Issac has any sort of grudge against you then don't expect him to be your knight in shining armor.
History: Issac was a thief, And a really good one at that. He lived in eterna city with a rather poor family and the only way to support them was to loot trainers passing by. Issac's partner was a sableye, which made all of his attempts at stealing flawless, The two were like perfect partners. Nobody was able to tell where their belongings dissapeared to until eventually, Issac was caught red handed. When officers found Issac, right before they could get their hands on him, He quickly dashed out of eterna, Broke through a small cave in mt coronet, And ended up on the other side of sinnoh. While stealing wasn't a major crime, So many trainers lost their valuables passing through eterna, That he was a fugitive in the town. He was never able to return to his own home.
Being unable to return home made it very tough for Issac to last without proper supplies and only one pokemon. That was until he met the other 5 trainers. Having a few friends by his side (despite holding grudges on some of them) made it much easier to survive out in sinnoh. Eventually their travels led them to search for a legendary pokemon spotted and lake acuity. After find this pokemon, Issac had plans to return home and hopefully redeem himself. Looks like plans have changed...
Other Details: Sometimes Issac may remove his helmet but only if nobody else can see him due to natural instinct (unless he ends up forming some kind of trust with another character but that's up to anyone who's interested in an extremely close friendship or something with Issac)

    Spina
    Age: 17
    Gender: Male
Pokemon: Kangaskhan, except the male version, which doesn't have a pouch or the baby version of the Pokemon.
    Defining Characteristics:
    Image
Spina is one of the most unique member of the Kangaskhan species. Not only is he missing the baby Pokemon of which every other one cares for, but he is missing the pouch in which to hold them as well. He is the first ever male Kangaskhan, or at least the first one that has ever been actually seen. Apart from his lack of parenting equipment, he also has red markings all over his body. He has red skin lining his shoulder pads, on his elbows, knees and on his tail. Half of the spines down his back are red as well. Apart from this, he has what looks like claw marks on his stomach from when he was attacked by a Pokemon as a human.
Personality: Spina is more of a lone wolf. He prefers sitting in his own little corner rather that getting in amongst a crowd. This quality often gets him teased at school, labeled as an outcast. But Spina doesn't care as long as he is happy with himself. Most people would see him as shy because of his social status, but this is actually not true. He is always willing to try something new and exciting, something that would scare lots of people. He was very caring towards his Pokemon and he would be to any friends he did manage to make.
History: Spina was born in Oreburgh City under the name Leonardo Comins, but his family almost instantly moved away because they didn't want the fumes from the coal mine to harm their new baby. They instead started his life in Sunyshore City, where there was always sunlight. As he grew up he started going down to the local gym and watching the Gym Leader, Volkner, battle brave trainers in pursuit of the gym badge. He loved watching these battles and made an ambition to become a trainer. The other kids at school laughed at him when he voiced his dreams, but he was determined.
One day, when he was down at the local beach, he met a girl named Jasmine Levine. The two of them became very good friends, and visited each other regularly. Sometimes Spina went over and helped her with her little brothers and sisters. They both discovered that they both wanted to be trainers, and decided to travel together when they were old enough.
When Spina turned 13 years of age, his parents finally let him go on his own journey. When he told Jasmine, however, she told him that she had been given the task of looking after her siblings. So Spina left for the Hoenn region alone. Over the next two and a half years, he travelled all around the region, catching his own Pokemon and battling other trainers, during which he obtained 3 scars along his belly from a wild Zangoose. He was living his dream. Eventually he managed to defeat the eight gym leaders and obtain the right to fight the Elite 4, but he decided against it and went back to Sinnoh. Upon returning home, he found that Jasmine was gone, having slipped out during the night. Spina decided to look for her.
With his old team of Pokemon, Spina travelled around the region in search of his old friend. One night, he was just arriving in Oreburgh City, his old hometown, when he saw a familiar face coming out of the gym. Jasmine had just won her first gym badge and the two decided to travel together. Sometime over the course of the journey, the two developed feelings for each other and started dating. Soon they were in a relationship. When they met up with the other four and decided to go camping with them, they were closer than ever. But then the two of them vanished. Was this new adventure going to strengthen their relationship, or tear it apart...?
Other Info: Was in a romantic relationship with Jasmine (Tandem's character) in his human life. Tandem has agreed to this and is going to change her SU accordingly.

    Elsa
    Age: 14
    Gender: Female
    Pokemon: Vulpix
    Defining Characteristics:
    Image
Most of her defining traits are fairly small and simple, but they set her apart nonetheless. She has solid-color belly as opposed to a cream one, but she does have cream-colored markings that underline her eyes. Her feet and the insides of her ears are also the same color as her tail and "bangs".
Personality: Elsa has always been quiet. She's naturally very shy, and tends to gravitate towards people with strong personalities. She was at the awkward age of 14 when she met her fate at Snowpoint, which didn't help her social anxiety, and also made her very stubborn. Even though she would rarely openly question someone's judgement, she would easily deviate on her own path in silent defiance. She also doesn't do well in stressful situations, getting angry and upset at what she finds unfair.
History: Elsa grew up in Snowpoint City, and never ventured far from her home. She didn't pursue a trainer career, like some of her friends did, but instead stayed in the city and took up a job at the local Mart. She worked a short-lived job as a tour guide in the local temple, but was let go because she spoke so softly that none of the tourists could understand her. She met each member of the group as they traveled through the city and the surrounding area, and was the one who secured them camping ground around the lake. She had a batch of fire pokemon which she didn't train for battling, but she used for warmth and protection. These included Houndour, Chimchar, and Growlithe, the more exotic of which were gifts from her father, who traveled overseas. She usually kept them close, as a comfort and a safety blanket, but on the trip to Lake Acuity she left them at home, resolving to push herself to be more confident. Unfortunately, she never had the chance to do so...
Other Info: Her closeness and fondness for fire pokemon is probably what led to her awaking as a Vulpix.

Name: Devi (her human name) Means: Goddess of Power
    Age: 18
    Gender: Female
    Pokemon: Gible; Dex #443
    Defining Characteristics:

Pikakip, you're accepted. =) I have a question though, is Jason a character that you want to appear as part of the group, or was he simply mentioned as an important part of Raydin's history?

Royal, you're also accepted, and I like your sprite. :D

EDIT: Sure Megaman765. You have a week.

If you'd like, however, there is one restriction: you can't have the baby too.

EDIT: And don't forget that your character must be female, since Kangaskan is female-only. ;P

    He's just a part of Raydin's history.

...Unless anyone wants to make him a char of course...
    [EDIT]
I'll get working on a sprite immediately.

UPDATE TO THE RULES OF THE SU: Gender-specific pokemon may now be used in the opposite gender to match the character's. However, an SU that exceeds minimal expectations and has obvious extra effort put into it will be required.

If anyone previously accepted or who is reserved (aka.... everyone xD) wants to change their character profile based on this new rule, make the change to your SU post and PM me.

And thanks for clarifying, pikakip. =)

Also, a sprite is not required, although you're free to use one, either just for visual purposes or to put on the top of your posts or whatever.

    Name: Jasmine "Jazz" Levine

    Name: Issac

After finding this pokemon, Issac had plans to return home and hopefully redeem himself. Looks like plans have changed...

Other Details: Sometimes Issac may remove his helmet but only if nobody else can see him due to natural instinct (unless he ends up forming some kind of trust with another character but that's up to anyone who's interested in an extremely close friendship or something with Issac)

(Hope this works out. If you don't like it I have a plan B.)

Name: Spina (The italian word for 'thorn', which is the first thing he sees when he wakes up)

    Age: 17

    Gender: Male

Pokemon: Kangaskhan, except the male version, which doesn't have a pouch or the baby version of the Pokemon.

    Defining Characteristics:

    PMD: The End. (PG-13)
