I'm a Mudkip at level 47 and I can't beat him.

ugh i can hardly remember..i THINK they were both around level 50 ish the first time.
the second time i did it ( and actually beat him ) they were still around that level.
i had totodile & pikachu. i loved that combo ! 8D

Aw man I played this long time ago... my team was Bulbasaur and Cyndaquil levels between 40-42 I guess but I had lots of Reviver Seeds :D :D
