Competition
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Competition
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Introduction
Welcome to the Poem Of The Week 5 competition, hosted by yours truly.
The original contest was hosted by Abnegation, the second by Sweet Jasmine, the third by Ayselipera, and the fourth by IceKnight212. Now this competition is for those who wish to enter their poems which comply with the corresponding theme, so that they can have some recognition for their amazing talent! Remember that the Moderator of this section will be supervising. If you win Poem Of The Week, you will win an emblem along with the choice of the next week's theme and the option to be a judge.
Poem of the Week is a great way to put your writing skills to the test. You'll also get to see what other people think of how you express your emotions using words.
Please make sure to read and follow all Other Writing and PokeCommunity rules as posted below before participating.
Rules and Guidelines
Remember to keep within the Writing rules, the Poem of the Week rules and of course the PC forum wide rules. Also make sure that you post your poem within the timeline which is posted within "The Theme of the Week" section below.
- The first, and most important rule, is to NEVER plagiarize work. It's very wrong, and the consequences can be severe. So please, do not steal!
- You may only post 1 poem relevant to the given theme of the week.
- Please only post good feedback on other entries within this thread. By feedback I mean good comments on why you like them rather than full criticism. Encourage others, and help them feel good about their writings.
- When submitting a poem either post a link to the thread that hosts the poem (must be on PC) or post the poem within the thread, and I will put it up on the first post with the others.
- This is a judging contest, there will be no votes. However, you may send me a private message if you would like to express your love for a particular poem and I will take it into consideration.
- You may post to state that you will be posting a poem and entering. Asking questions and the likes is also fine. All discussion may go within the thread.
- If you are posting a poem please keep it nicely laid out with as little formatting as possible. It's better we don't have big bright text and numerous BB codes. It just makes it a little easier on the eyes. Thank you.
So please participate, have fun, don't be shy, and always remember your poetry is a expression of emotions and experiences, and of course a good effort as well as talent, so no matter what you write, it will have a chance! Please don't feel intimidated, even if this is your first poem it still stands a fighting chance! Remember that if you want to participate, but you're not sure how to write a good poem there are stickied threads right in the poetry section for you to review.
Credits to Abnegation, Sweet Jasmine, Ayselipera, and IceKnight212 for writing and editing the rules and guidelines.

Week One: Peace
Spoiler:
Peace - By Gardenia101
Spoiler:
You can't ignore
The outspoken voice
As the world cries out
"World Peace!"
They say that
Peace means no more war,
But it means more than that.
Where there is peace,
There is no war
For light converts the darkness.
The evil thoughts
Of worldly men
Calm at it's touch.
The sun's rays
Touch the cold Earth
Giving it time to rest.
The only light
In the dark of night
Is peace but in our souls.
We do not think
Of violence or pain
When we think of what is good.
Peace is that,
That faithful thought,
The thought that moves you on.
It will awake you from your grief
And show you just
What is good.
Untitled - By Shining Meganium
Spoiler:
A little world with little love
Where we're so close yet so far
Where we're so close yet so far
We ask for peace
Carrying guns and grenades
Carrying guns and grenades
We buy this peace
Yet never receive it
Yet never receive it
We fight a war to gain this peace
But destroy the people we share it with
But destroy the people we share it with
Perhaps the flames and smoke
Blind us from this truth
Blind us from this truth
While in Limbo - By Missingno.7-4468
Spoiler:
A tiny speck of light is seen
Twinkling in the great expanse of black.
A tiny haven can be seen
In the chaos that ensues.
A heart is torn on what to think,
Whether to head forward or back
Is the hardest decision that one could make
While in the limbo of darkness.
Here is nothing, even darkness hides,
There is light, but is it a trick?
Here is peace, there is peace,
It's what one chooses for themselves.
Peace of nothing, or peace of light,
Such a decision seems simple,
But it is hard to choose between
What one knows is right, or what is known.
My Peace - By Zirkle38
Spoiler:
Happiness, is your peace
You want everyone to be friends
No more war, no more hunger
Your peace is an outside image,
Something to look at
Something pretty.
But what I want of peace is not friends
I don't care about happiness and war
And fasting gives me discipline.
All I want is to be alone
Alone with my thoughts and concerns
I'm most myself
By myself.
My inner peace
Is what I want
And all I want.
How can I be who I am
When all I hear are
Mumbles, Shouts, and discernible noises.
All I want, all I need,
is a quiet park
And a well oiled swing.
Dreams of Peace - By Regeneration (Winner)
Spoiler:
I woke up in dreamy state
My mind was half asleep.
I saw no thing that I would hate
The scene I saw, could weep.
A bitter battle there ensued
Clashing swords and shield.
Like a storm the men shrewd
I wept, I prayed, I kneeled.
They didn't hear; nor stopped
Though marched ahead with fear.
For glory, for honour, they chopped
Heads, their intentions were queer.
Widows and children long cried
Days and nights, all weather.
Their men, their fathers had died
All that left was old heather.
At once, I gave out a scream
The scene outside was a shock.
I realized this was no dream
No man outside did walk.
Nations and leaders always demand
All we want is peace.
Nevertheless they command
Their guns never decrease.
Week Two: Melancholy
Spoiler:
Untitled - By Gardenia101
Spoiler:
In this world I'm alone,
To all others I'm unknown.
I've barricaded my door,
Cluttered my floor.
They don't care for me,
They all leave me be.
My heart is in pieces,
My will decreases.
When they hear my cries of pain,
They all think I'm insane.
Nothing will heal me,
And I face that fact tearfully.
Too Much - By Daydream (Winner)
Spoiler:
I just can't cope,
With how you pressure me so.
I'm falling down a slope,
And I have no way to slow.
With how you pressure me so.
I'm falling down a slope,
And I have no way to slow.
Yes, I have a brain,
But no one likes me.
I don't think I'm sane,
And that's what they see.
But no one likes me.
I don't think I'm sane,
And that's what they see.
At times I just cry,
Face down on the bed.
All the reasons why,
That's the pain in my head.
Face down on the bed.
All the reasons why,
That's the pain in my head.
And when it gets worst,
When I'm my most sad,
I'll not be the first,
A person going mad.
When I'm my most sad,
I'll not be the first,
A person going mad.
I'm Not done just yet,
Not the time, you see.
I'll remain here alone,
Melancholy.
Not the time, you see.
I'll remain here alone,
Melancholy.
Not Again - By Zirkle38
Spoiler:
I lay on my bed,
Thoughts of you running through my head
You gave us a chance,
Our love was such a boring dance.
You were there for me
And the same I could not be.
I ended it on such a sad note
And that was all she wrote.
Until that day where I let my jealousy
Get the best of me
I called you up on my own time
And you gave me a happy reply
The second time through
Was even more cause for gloom
I broke your heart twice,
You were my own little vice
Now I can see the irony,
I want you, you can't stand me.
Kaos - By Missingno.7-4468
Spoiler:
The sun has been taken away,
Disappeared into nothingness.
The sky has dissolved away,
Primordial darkness left rippling.
All that matters has been replaced
By anything that does not matter.
As darkness looms over,
Nothing is left standing.
Chaos in its original form,
Ruled over by the black void.
No motion, warmth, or feeling
Left in the endless space.
Such are the dark recesses of my mind.
Week Three: Romance
Spoiler:
A Letter - By Missingno.7-4468 (Winner)
Spoiler:
My dearest lover,
I wish that I could hug you now,
Kiss you on the lips so tenderly,
But I am so far from you, dear,
But that does not mean we won't meet again.
For now this letter will suffice
For my ever-endearing love.
Don't be afraid to follow your dreams,
As mine have already been fulfilled.
Do not be held back by your attachment to me,
But remember me when you can.
Do not be afraid to love another,
But remember that I approve.
I'm sorry that it has to be this way,
But fate cannot be reversed.
I'll love you forever like I loved you before,
So do not fret, and do not be dismayed.
I am watching you now from my new Home,
Nevermore to be injured in war.
And as I seal this letter with a kiss,
I whisper one last "I love you."
Your soldier.
Summer Love - By Starr Leonhart
Spoiler:
Summer Love
The shine of the sun on your hair,
Is truly too much for me to bare.
The shine of your eyes in the dying light,
Sends my beating heart, into flight.
The beads of water, on your skin so fair,
Could end the world of dispair.
Last, but not least,
Your smile, like the beautiful moon of the East.
Warmth - By TheSmartOne
Spoiler:
Warmth
Waking on a cold morning
I realize I've been dreaming
Dreaming of your warmth
Enveloping me
Protecting me from the chill
I dreamt you held me close
Warming my body with your own
Shutting out the Minnesota cold.
But waking on a cold morning
Reality engulfs me
I realize it was just a dream
And your warmth is simply
The warmth of my down comforter
Wrapped tight around me
It is hard to force myself
To get up out of bed
And into the cold
But I still do
For I harbor hopes
That my dream of last night
Could become reality tonight.
Terror or Bliss - By Fearless Love
Spoiler:
Caught between a moment of terror and bliss,
Should she hide her face from what lies within,
Or settle into the gently kiss?
What known not to her moments ago
The trueness of her heart sprouting about,
Her feelings hidden began to shout.
What could not be released,
but no longer hidden
Poured out of her soul and she was smitten!
A smile graced her tearstained face
His retreating form now feet away.
She could not breath and could not speak.
With a look of bliss and resentment,
she fell into a wondered sleep.
You - By Zeffy
Spoiler:
Such a wondeful sight
Upon a very stormy night
Your eyes that shine
More so ever than mine
You, the only one
A quintessence of the done
It seems like a crime
To ruin your design
You, the essence of peace
With you, all wars will cease
Because of your lovely, sweet lips
That in a lovely kiss
Makes the moment full of bliss
Untitled - By Monkeyandhead
Spoiler:
You hide your face behind umbrellas,
but there really is no reason to.
We could walk through grass plains,
or glaciers if you really want to.
Do the words "I love you"
give you a warmhearted feeling?
Because they give me security,
of the utmost revealing.
Do you sit there and ruminate
what we could do?
We could walk through grass plains,
or glaciers if you really want to.
Week Four: Life
Spoiler:
Life's Sweet Curse - By Midnight Moon~
Spoiler:
Life's Sweet Curse
Life is a gift, that graces the mother.
Life is a curse, that falls upon another.
The mother hears only that warm beating heart,
The other feels only the cold loneliness apart.
Life is a curse, that falls upon another.
The mother hears only that warm beating heart,
The other feels only the cold loneliness apart.
The child grows older, stronger, and free.
His life always full of sweet loving liberty.
His mother looks upon him like a star from above,
Naught in her eyes but passionate love.
His life always full of sweet loving liberty.
His mother looks upon him like a star from above,
Naught in her eyes but passionate love.
The other is always alone in the dark,
This cursed life he lives, leaving it's mark.
He cries out to his mother, in agonizing pain,
But she doesn't see him, it's always the same.
This cursed life he lives, leaving it's mark.
He cries out to his mother, in agonizing pain,
But she doesn't see him, it's always the same.
'Til one day he can not take any more,
He sits in the attic after locking the door.
A noose is dangling from the timbers above,
This lonely life he is so tired and sick of.
He sits in the attic after locking the door.
A noose is dangling from the timbers above,
This lonely life he is so tired and sick of.
The kiss of death graces the cold morning air.
The mourning maiden, so beautiful and fair.
'Tis not 'til death, that you appreciate life.
'Tis not 'til death that you're freed from life's strife.
The mourning maiden, so beautiful and fair.
'Tis not 'til death, that you appreciate life.
'Tis not 'til death that you're freed from life's strife.
Silver rosepetals fall from the heavenly sky.
That last breath of life departs with a sigh.
Black clothes, so depressing, fill the small service.
All that grief and all that pain was his.
That last breath of life departs with a sigh.
Black clothes, so depressing, fill the small service.
All that grief and all that pain was his.
The gentle breeze caresses her tear-stained cheeks.
He's gone forever, pray that he finds what he seeks.
Death is for the completed, and life for the broken.
Those who would argue hear not what's been spoken.
He's gone forever, pray that he finds what he seeks.
Death is for the completed, and life for the broken.
Those who would argue hear not what's been spoken.
If We Only Knew - By Starr Leonhart
Spoiler:
If We Only Knew
I ask the Angels all of these questions.
And their answers, illicit all of these actions.
"Why am I here?", I ask, silently.
They just shake their heads with beauty.
"What is our purpose?", they ask in chorus.
Why are they hiding this from us?
If we only know why,
We could perfect this world in a baby's sigh.
If we only knew about this life,
We could end all of this strife.
Life - By Daydream
Spoiler:
Life
Sometimes it's fun.
Sometimes it's not great.
Don't knock it till you're done,
Don't be ruled by hate.
Sometimes it's not great.
Don't knock it till you're done,
Don't be ruled by hate.
Grow every moment,
Don't waste a second,
Or darkness will foment,
Right 'til your beckoned.
Don't waste a second,
Or darkness will foment,
Right 'til your beckoned.
And it will be hard,
I'm the first to attest,
But if you go the extra yard,
It'll turn out for the best.
I'm the first to attest,
But if you go the extra yard,
It'll turn out for the best.
Live every day,
Don't waste your time,
Do it your way,
To finish the climb.
Don't waste your time,
Do it your way,
To finish the climb.
Hope and Love,
Pain and Strife.
Aren't things we're above,
Because they're part of life.
Pain and Strife.
Aren't things we're above,
Because they're part of life.
God's Gift - By Magmaruby and Aquasapphire
Spoiler:
God's gift
God gave us life
He gave us the ability to love and to seek
This beautiful gift is too precious to waste
One must enjoy one's life with the same grace as it was created from
Though one mustn't forget the one who gave him life
With this gift I can build sky scrappers, go to the stars, and move about
This world full of god's gifts
The bright light that makes us move
The ether that gives us the will to continue
In this hell of a world
God gave us life
He gave us the ability to love and to seek
This beautiful gift is too precious to waste
One must enjoy one's life with the same grace as it was created from
Though one mustn't forget the one who gave him life
With this gift I can build sky scrappers, go to the stars, and move about
This world full of god's gifts
The bright light that makes us move
The ether that gives us the will to continue
In this hell of a world
Into Life - By Fearless Love
Spoiler:
Life consists of many things,
Memories, actions, joy it brings.
There are many things we can not see,
Purpose, reason, hidden within thee.
I ponder on what makes life
To simply exist, or to be alive.
To exist is to merely breath
Being alive is true, at least what I see.
Simple acts of mindlessness,
To do things that don't occur to us.
Hurt another, give one life,
We don't always know how we effect them inside.
Life consists of many things,
Like a baby bird ready to release its wings.
Though many questions go unanswered,
Life is here, and that's what matters.
Mother Earth (A Cruel Fate) - By Forever
Spoiler:
Mother Earth - A cruel fate
The land they roam is vast
Their life is just a dream
The souls of those long forgotten silently echo; as they drift along the stream
Their life is just a dream
The souls of those long forgotten silently echo; as they drift along the stream
The rooster prepares to sing its deathly tune
While the pigs embrace the cool, wet, earth as the they feast
For if the tears don't fall from the sky, it will surely be their last
While the pigs embrace the cool, wet, earth as the they feast
For if the tears don't fall from the sky, it will surely be their last
Untitled - By Butterbiscuit
Spoiler:
Life, ah, that's the stuff;
It could make you shy or make you tough.
You never know where it's going
Relentless, threadless, never joining.
So, my friends, expect the worst;
Be prepared for an outburst.
Life, ah, that's the stuff;
It could make you shy or make you tough.
Alas, my friends, most seem to fail.
But try, try- you'll prevail.
Sprout - By JX Valentine (Winner)
Spoiler:
Sprout
There is a seed
in a pot
by a window
in a room
with a bed
in which lies
a little girl
who has been there
for three months,
and the seed
hasn't sprouted
in two,
and the nurses
all give her
sympathetic eyes
because they know
this number
equals five
which is one less
than the number
the doctors gave
to the little girl
and her mother
the morning after
the results
of her blood screening
came back,
and her mother cries
by her bed
in the hours
before she goes to work
while her daughter
is asleep,
dreaming
of the snowy night
when she and her mother
went out and made
snow angels.
Every morning
as soon as she wakes up
the girl pulls the pot
in her lap
and bends over it
(She once had long hair
that would fall around the pot,
but she doesn't anymore.
It fell out.)
and whispers to it
"grow grow grow"
even though
the seed doesn't sprout
and hasn't sprouted
for two months,
then three,
then four.
One morning
the doctors said
there was nothing more
they could do,
so they let
the girl's mother decide,
and she took her daughter
back home
to the apartment
overlooking
that same park
where they made snow angels
one cold night,
and over a cup of coffee
that same morning
the mother remembered
that night:
how cold it was
how much her baby's smile
glowed
in the light
of streetlamps,
how pink she looked
and how she coughed up blood
the next morning.
Every morning
for the next few days
as soon as she wakes up
the girl pulls the pot
in her lap
and bends over it
(She used to do this voluntarily,
but now it's the only way
she can sit up.)
and whispers to it
"grow grow grow"
until she can't.
The morning she doesn't
the mother cries
by her bed
and decides
not to come in
to work that day
or any other day
for a long time.
Two weeks
after the girl--
her mother's
only baby
by a father
who hasn't been around
since before she was born--
is dressed
and viewed
and cried over
and buried,
the mother realizes
that she hasn't been
in that room
for awhile,
(and how could she
after losing
her baby
and the smile
that glowed
in streetlamps
and gave her
reasons,
so many reasons,
to go to work
every morning?)
so she goes
and unlocks the door
and steps inside
to see the pot
by the window.
There was a seed
in a pot
by a window
in a room
with a bed
in which once lay
a little girl
who had been sick
for a very long time,
but now,
in the pot
poking out
of the soil
which hasn't touched water
since the girl
stopped telling it to grow
is a tiny,
green
sprout.
That's How It Goes - By Zeffy
Spoiler:
That's how it goes
Long ago, so I heard
There was a man, and he was hurt
Someone came and helped him
But the man refused the offer,
For he was in sorrow,
And he uttered, that's how it goes.
To him, life is unfair
Never had the chance to enjoy,
Never did he accept,
That this is the way it happens,
That life is real unfair
To those who treat it not fair.
And so the man in pain,
Whose life is about to face death,
Ended this little chat,
With the phrase, that's how life treats you.
The River (Of Life) - By Kirozane
Spoiler:
The River (Of Life)
The flow
Oh that ever constant flow
Pushing and pulling us forth
And who are we
To try and fight
The current?
Those
Few
Those brave and courageous few
Who have dared to try
Are only ensnared further
Lost
Forever
In their own delusions
Who among us
Is truly free
Can truly comprehend what is happening?
We all
Assume
Generalize
Conclude
The waters
They cackle
Laugh
The current pulling us forward
Forward
Ever forward
And we are but
Oblivious
Drifting from stream to stream
Staring blankly into the sky
Dream
As the waters pull us forth
Dream
All we can do is turn
Look to the river
Wish for the memories hidden in the ripples
The Dreams long forgotten
In the roar of time long lost
Week Five: Home
Spoiler:
Home Sweet Home - By Zeffy (Winner)
Spoiler:
Home Sweet Home
Down the street,
Through the road,
There is a place,
That I call home.
Whatever happens,
Wherever we move,
It always stays the same,
Home sweet home.
The beds that delight me,
Through my midday's rest,
And the food that I adore,
When I'm in the dining room floor.
The soft, warm cushions,
Of the big, wide sofa,
And the lights everywhere,
To guide as all.
From the bathroom shower,
Up to the kitchen sink,
It always stays the same,
Home sweet home.
Whatever happens,
wherever we move,
I will always remember,
Home sweet home.
Memory (of Destruction) - By Missingno.7-4468
Spoiler:
Memory (of Destruction)
A man walked in a marred house to see
What relics from the past he could find.
A woman comes to him with a face of glee,
And an old man sits on a chair with composure kind.
The young man blinks and sees once more
The decrepit house burned down long ago,
But then he sees a little girl he once did adore,
In her hair a bright blue bow.
He walks through the house alone,
Mesmerized by the site of what it once was,
This was once what he called home,
But a fire had reduced it to dust.
Burned - By Fearless Love
Spoiler:
Burned
Bit by bit
Sinking in.
The memory slips,
So what remains?
A shattered picture in a frame?
Faces blanked from time and haze.
Sinking in.
The memory slips,
So what remains?
A shattered picture in a frame?
Faces blanked from time and haze.
Fire lit
Warm and snug.
Fire goes out
on the run.
Rain like acid on the skin
This next is my sin.
Warm and snug.
Fire goes out
on the run.
Rain like acid on the skin
This next is my sin.
Took the first step out the door
To this place I belonged no more
When demons caught up to my light
Shackles and chains I could not fight.
For them I would always belong
Hoping I had not been wrong.
To this place I belonged no more
When demons caught up to my light
Shackles and chains I could not fight.
For them I would always belong
Hoping I had not been wrong.
Dry eyes
Tears run out.
In this river
Full of drought.
I could no longer return
because the memory of home
Tears run out.
In this river
Full of drought.
I could no longer return
because the memory of home
Had been burned.

Where is Home? - By Gardenia101
Spoiler:
Where is Home?
I live in a house,
But my parents are never there.
There are many bedrooms,
But as for siblings, I have none.
I don't have any friends;
This neighborhood is too bad for them.
My supposed home is darkness-
It's only my jail cell.
I haven't seen someone my age
Since when I was just a child.
But, wait- isn't home supposed to be
Where your heart is in it?
I think I know where my heart is-
It's in Pokemon.
Week Six: Christmas
Spoiler:
A Black Christmas - By Forever
Spoiler:
A Black Christmas
One spec of dust floated down from the curtain
A cry could be heard from the distance
That girl...
Oh, that girl knew she'd be hurting,
Too horrific to witness,
Too late for any sort of forgiveness
A black Christmas was all she could hope for,
While years of violence finally built up
Slam. The door shut.
Scarred by her losses,
Scarred by her past,
Scarred by the man who would be her last
You see, one Christmas eve, two souls embraced
Kissed under a mistletoe that night,
The following day, he wasn't anywhere in sight
She opened her presents, found a letter
A tear escaped from her eye,
As she screamed in delight
He left her the greatest gift of all,
A promise he would return next summer,
So he told her to wait by the fire.
Several months later, she was still waiting,
Faithfully,
Patiently,
Nothing could take her mind off him
Then, one night while she was sleeping
He crept in, kissed her on the forehead,
And started to sing
She heard his sweet voice,
She awakened from her sleep.
She thought they would spend a life together,
But she was very wrong
He cheated on her all the time
He went away on trips
He even caused physical pain,
But she stayed faithful,
She couldn't live any other way
For she knew without him, she wouldn't be safe.
Soon he passed, much to her dismay
She walked slowly
She no longer had any need to be afraid
However she was never happy
For her fear is one that strikes us all
The fear of being alone.
When the next Christmas arrived,
She opened her presents quickly
Expecting to find something she would love,
She found a photo of him.
She held it close to her heart,
Her heart beat in a slow rhythm,
As she realised her was never real,
Only a figment of her imagination,
Desperate,
Alone,
Needing someone,
Needing a place to call home.
She was able to convince herself,
For all these years,
That he was real
Yet she never realised it would only worsen her health.
Moments later, one spec of dust floated down from the curtain
A cry could be heard from the distance
That girl...
After all these years, that girl is hurting
Too naive to understand
Too late to take it all back
A black Christmas was all she could hope for,
Christmas lost all colour and vibrancy,
Her mind's illusions guaranteed she was nothing more
Thump. The Christmas tree fell.
Scarred by the pine,
Hurt by her own delusions
Now invisible all the time,
In a world of only black and white.

Silent Christmas - By Starr Leonhart

Silent Christmas
My first Christmas alone.
All is lost, that I known.
Snow is falling,
I am crying.
The fire is crackling.
Carolers singing.
8:00 is ringing.
My first Christmas with him.
Filled with love.
Filled with hugs.
He gave me a ring,
Under the mistletoe, I did my answering.
My first Christmas with Death.
He stole my dying breath.
Husband cursed the ground,
As I died a death that was calm and sound.
My silent Christmas.

Dear Santa (From ____, Age 5, as Transcribed By Mommy)
Dear Santa,
How is Rudolph and the other reindeer?
I hope it's not too cold at the North Pole!
I made you cookies this year
with Mommy's help,
and I hope you like sprinkles!
I was very, very good this year,
and I didn't tease anyone at school once!
I won't even stay up all night
to see if you come down the chimney!
So I hope you'll bring me everything on my list.
This year, I want a red bike,
the movie I saw this summer with Mommy,
a video game I don't have,
a baby puppy
(Golden retriever, please!
And I'll name him after my favorite reindeer!),
and for Mommy and Daddy to stop fighting

Ready To Start - By Scytheteen (Winner)
Spoiler:
Ready To Start
The age of a new dawn,
The beginning of something new.
A new start for myself,
So that I can break away from myself
and stop being all that I hate.
The self-pity, the whining, the sulking,
It never ends.
The person I hate most is who I've become.
So now I'm ready to start;
Start becoming the person I long to be,
And kill the being I have become.
I am dead.
The Start of the Championships - By Meerfire
Spoiler:
The start of a battle,
There are no tittle tattles,
A Pokémon on each side,
Types can turn a tide,
Strategies can cause a crowd to stir,
As the Pokémon shakes its fur,
A fire comet burst into action,
This cut the Pokémon health by a fraction,
The Pokémon gave a spark,
As it zoomed across making everything seem dark,
The Pokémon got a shock,
As the attack was blocked,
By an attack called protect,
So there was no effect,
Many attacks goes and comes,
But it isn't all down to the mathematical sums,
It counts on the heart and desire,
The trainer's aim to go higher and higher,
The love they give to the Pokémon soul,
And with that they will always reach their goal.
Painting - By darkpokeball
Spoiler:
Colors surround me in the art studio
I'm ready to start yet another piece
I'm a good artist, and in love too
How can I impress that lovely Liz?
How can I live up to what her view
of love is?
I start with a red smudge
And draw with a color called 'Fudge'
It's a brownish-black
Yet my painting still lacks
How can I impress her?
Stupid love, I wish for a cure.
I paint a heart, big and red
I draw Liz's lovely head
I paint myself, on one side
To counter her being on the other
This painting, I'll treat with pride
Unless it's seen by my brother.
He hates Liz, I don't know why
When he sees her, his temper flies
I hide the painting in a secret place
To avoid seeing his enraged face
Come the day, I want to show her
I reach into my cabinet to grab it
To show the girl who is pure
But then comes an emotional hit
I forgot where I hid the piece
My sadness doesn't cease
How hard I worked
Now, I'm irked
The painting is gone
My rage flips on...
Week Eight: Fear
Spoiler:
Once Upon A Rhyme - By MeerFall (Winner)
Spoiler:
Once upon a rhyme,
A story about a girls climb,
As happy as can be,
There was no need for a key,
Every door was unlocked,
She hardly needed to knock,
Every room was full of treasure,
With hope joined with pleasure,
Then a strange door appeared,
It was the door that leered,
Had a diamond handle,
Glows like a candle,
And the colour of cream,
Like a Queen's door it seems,
It opened a tiny peek,
A strange light that leek,
This made her curious,
A door so mysterious,
She opened it and stepped inside,
Her pupils went wide,
There her nightmares came alive,
Love and happiness was deprived,
Her eyes filled with tears,
As she was surrounded by fears,
She ran for the handle,
Like a herd of Randall,
Then the diamond handle smashed,
The pieces that slashed,
She bled tears of pain,
As the blood started to stain,
The nightmares started to disappear,
The reason why was unclear,
But night after night they came back,
With the diamond shards her leg she has hack,
The door cannot be escaped,
With the diamond shards she scraped,
Hoping for someone to save her from this door,
Her legs were so sore,
Then she started to dream,
It was full of lollipops and ice-cream,
But it always ended sad,
When she is lonely, inhuman or mad,
One night she fell asleep,
In a dream so deep,
That she never even tried to peep,
But some people say they can hear her weep,
You don't know what message I'm sending,
Except a story about a unhappy ever ending

"Please, don't take my sister, Sir!"
"I'll be fine. Don't worry Bumble Bee."
Those were her Famous Last Words.
Cold fear, echoes in my mind.
I see her, when they fly, the little black birds.
And it scares me, when I think of them as kind…..
The Dangers of Tomorrow - By Zeffy
Spoiler:
Everyday you ready for bed,
There's always a risk that one must take,
Everyone fears it,
No one is safe from it,
Not even the most religious man, not a bit.
And when you've passed the dark night,
There's another danger, yes that's right!
But you need no fear,
If you are brave, my dear,
Because no-one might even hear.
So through life, this you must remember,
Never ever pull down that lever,
Or one day you'll die,
You'll never taste anymore pie,
And everyone will leave you with a sigh.

All these questions I ask because I do not know.
All these questions I ponder until you tell me so.

The Man in Black - By Diamond1304
Spoiler:
The Man in Black
Who is he? The man in black.
The air around him is cloaked in mystery.
On the pavement, his shoes make a click-clack.
He dresses richly, but not gaudy.
Constantly watching silently,
Nothing he does ever taunt.
His agile movements are stealthy,
And he's always in a suit that's gaunt.
No one knows who he is,
Or guess why he's always there.
But everyone knows this,
He's a Madrigal, so better beware.
Checkmate - By Tsundera (Winner)
Spoiler:
Checkmate
The board set-up, the pieces in place,
Intense as a momentary gaze, mystery begins.
Opposing colours, crafted not to mingle together,
But forged to commit unpredictable sins.
Every move you make; unbeknownst to you,
Falling into the web I've woven.
The plot thickens, inescapable, trapped; I target
The piece any man would have chosen.
Eyes on the prize; the final instant arising.
Ignoring the pawn, the bishop, the knight, the rook.
Emotions ablaze, my secret still concealed,
Did you not take one moment to look?
This strategy, so puzzling, what you should have seen;
Your King finally cornered, your move now, my Queen.
Week Twelve: Time
Spoiler:
Untitled - By trespasser
Spoiler:
Time passed, and you slipped from my grasp.
Even now, I still think about our past,
As I yearned to see your face, you forgot me.
And I always wished that you were here to see,
That now, there is no us...
But even now, I still love you, believe it or not,
Even if this is not the ending I sought.
When I see you, I want to hug you,
If only would just make you love me too...
All I can say is that I shall never find truth in 'lived happily ever after' again.
In the future, I hope to meet you,
And I hope this time we can pull through.
I can see it; a future for an us,
Built on a base of trust.
And I know, I know, that time shall come, when there is truth in 'lived happily ever after...'

Don't stop now
Faster, harder, higher, better
Time keeps flowing, so don't let up
The only way to win is to never stop
Poison has Two Faces - By Mizan de la Plume Kuro
Spoiler:
Like fate, a chance encounter,
has gnarled ancient hands,
caressing the prime of life,
bringing haste to the final second.
If only by chance,
pain should find itself,
to bring about the end of time,
for an earthbound soul,
then all who knew him,
would then despair in their solitude,
and reflect on the contract,
which seemed to expire unjustly.
And they would proclaim,
"Twas not time, o traveller,
that brought about your demise,
but merely, the vicissitudes of fate."
And thus, they shall depart,
and forget,
but not be liberated,
from the two poisons of life.
The curse of fate,
And the passing of the age.
Migratory Birdsong - By Toujours
Spoiler:
My family doesn't like to stay in one place.
Until I was two, I lived in Washington --
The state in the west, not the capitol.
Before I even had a chance to remember my home I was flown
to a place I'd never even known, New Jersey
New state, new coast, new life -- for a while.
Until I grew used to it, and we drove to Texas.
I never did find out what happened to those kids I knew,
the ones who always were certain of where home was. They weren't me.
But New Jersey called again; we packed our things and boarded the train.
We came back, but it wasn't the same.
Still can't settle down, still moving around
And attached to that place down in Texas,
with memories tucked away in a storage unit --
But no longer attached to the people who helped make them.
I grew up thinking friends were expendable, tradeable;
If I didn't it would be too hard to leave.
The short reprieve I got from people, I pushed away.
I didn't want a reason to want to stay...since I wasn't.
I never grew out of that habit, counting days
treating my homes like hotels with extended stays.
Even now, the second I'm out
my family -- that is, my mother -- is moving again.
She doesn't know where, why, or exactly when
but the home I'm leaving is not the home I'm coming back to.
I count the days until I start over,
like I have so many times before.
Another shore, by which to soar -- or fall.
Does it really matter after all? Because
My family doesn't like to stay in one place.
And if you wait long enough, I'll just migrate.
Week Thirteen: Rivalry
Spoiler:
Sun and Moon - By Diamond1304
Spoiler:
Heaven's blazing left eye,
Burning high up in the sky.
Through the rain, sunbeams seep,
Painting a colourful ribbon-like strip.
Heaven's right eye of cooling blue,
Illuminating against a nightly hue.
Twinkling teardrops around its lashes,
Sparkling like diamonds with gentle flashes.
When the paths of both eyes intertwine,
The Earth becomes a void of sunlight and moonshine.
The balance of both opposites must remain,
Or else the forces darkness and chaos will reign.
On Rivalry - By Destiny. (Winner)
Spoiler:
maybe rivals
are just a brush of human resentment
or a tarnished gleam of emboldened victory;
a touch of sometimes envy
or riddled crevices
where threatened prejudice pools,
shallow cracks of pride stretching;
and festering poison seeping
or feathered light
longing out recognition
inestimable, priceless achievement;
lifting wings.

Betrayal, An Unknown Rival Appears - By ToWriteLove
Spoiler:
Beautiful words I say to her echo back,
Bouncing back they crash into someone, a friend,
It consumes me, a mocking surprise attack,
How could loves intentions come to this cruel end?
Depressed I am, moping around my sorrow,
Heart ripped in four, between friend foe, love, and hate,
Tossed aside, will I make it through tomorrow?
Will it be mended, or will it be to late,
Then it happens a separation of love,
Do my eyes deceive me? Can it be true?
My heart mends itself, together like doves,
Chances are slim, I shall not become shrew,
Heart skipping beats, I take my first steps forward,
I say my prayers of hope, my gaze aimed skyward
Week Fourteen: Adventure
Spoiler:
The Writer - By Skara
Spoiler:
Sat there in the attic, scribbling with his pen,
A man so erratic, stays in his den.
Watching out the window, across Clock Town,
He decides the fate of the people, even he who wears the crown.
So feared is the writer, the townsfolk sent a hitman,
"That cheeky little blighter", he thought, as he devised a counter plan.
The hitman walks up the steps, readying his sword,
The writer took his pen and crept, crept along the creaking floor.
"I'll look at you and decide your fate" said the bitter old man,
"And a wound in your belly I will create" challenged the hitman, as if he can.
So they stood and they stared, face to face.
The Writer, he merely glared, the hitman struck without haste.
Clock Town now safe, the Writer deceased
Stood there was the victorious waif, the bloody body beneath.
The hitman, outside, the townsfolk cheered
"The Writer died! now there's nothing to fear!"
Oak's Lament - By Misheard Whisper (Winner)
Spoiler:
It's that wonderful time of the year again,
When the wannabe Trainers come by.
I give them a Pokemon each, and then
They think they can touch the sky.
Sometimes I question the wisdom of this:
Is it that hard to see?
That sending kids into the world like this
Is kinda weird; or is it just me?
So, off they go on their mad enterprise
Just a Pokemon by their side
I've got to ask, really: is it that wise?
Remember little John Adams? He died.
There was a great big cover-up on the TV
They said he'd been hit by a car.
But the truth of the matter is, you see
It was something more sinister by far.
He got involved with a gang, you see
Called themselves Team Rocket, I think.
Little Johnny did his best to make them flee
For his trouble he got tossed in the drink.
For how's a mere child to fend for himself
With just a Pokemon or six?
A couple of magical creatures won't help
If someone hits you with a brick.
But every year, I smile and I wave them on
As they go on their merry wee way.
I don't know if a kid and a Pokemon
Is a team that can go all the way.
But I keep my doubts to myself, for sure
Because if anyone ever found out
That I second-guessed myself, there'd be war.
In this job, I've no room for doubt.
So I wave them off with a heavy heart,
Wondering if they'll end up dead.
But in my old age, I can't tell them apart
So I shrug and I go back to bed.
Untitled - By Osha_say_wott?!
Spoiler:
On to great adventures!
Three best friends; Clay, Tiff and Zeke.
A treasure map in hand,
riches beyond belief is what they seek.
Land ahoy!
Their destination, Shamouti Island, now in sight.
Tides crashing.
They rowed in to shore, with all their might.
Arriving on land with grins on their faces.
Zeke bolts into the jungle, without hesitation.
*nyan* A poptart kitty flew across his feet.
He trips, falls, *thud* he should have used caution.
They follow the map and counted their paces.
Crabwalk twenty yards to the north.
Then turn and hop on one foot west ten yards.
Now shimmy, shimmy back and forth.
As strange as the directions may seem,
they follow the map and did as depicted.
Finally, they arrived where X marked the spot.
Time to dig and unearth the riches they've wanted.
They opened the chest and were met with despair.
For the chest was empty, nothing could be said.
No diamonds or crytals, no treasure could be found.
Excpet fo a note, which Clay took out and read.
The true teasures in life does not lie in gold nor in silver,
it's the friends you are with, together, spending life on an adventure.

End of an Era - By SeleneHime
Spoiler:
End of an Era
Years pass by,
A steady flow of time,
A river beneath the sky,
Something to reach for and climb.
Supported through health and pain,
Through trial and tribulation,
Something that will never wane,
Even for sorrow and elation.
Love that shan't fall to disregard,
In the depths of my thought,
Never to be scarred,
As the future is now sought.
Yet as this era comes to an end,
Another is about to begin,
Waiting to join and blend,
To continue on therein.
Able to go after my dreams,
So life can continue on,
Thanks to all who helped me through,
My light has brightly shone

End of an Era
Quiet as the tear in the dead of the night-
Yet the days heard its last leaf fall.
"Gone are the times of the past and the plight-
Gone is the pride", sighed they all.
The last breeze swept, and cried the last rays of rain.
The last of the clouds, too, dispersed.
"Gone are the times of our gall and our gain,
Left are the stains", sang the bards.
Limped on the men, on the corpse of the earth.
And the land lay as dead as the souls.
"Days that are gone", wept the sad little hearts;
And this- did the firmaments behold.

Bright as the light of the dawn, as it breathes,
As it strikes to the heart of the night,
The sole fallen leaf was hailed by the breeze,
And the rain, to this merry world's delight.
The apathetic eyes of the heavens gained sway,
A gaze about a sorry scene they swept.
A sad crew of souls, stood broken in dismay,
Lamenting the "days", which never left.
The days come and go, with shades to follow,
The bards sing all the same songs.

Fire, in a way, is majestic energy.
It burn's and burn's forever more, it hold's much mystery.
It can be feared, it can save lives, it can be ignored.
Fire is a weapon that's much stronger than a sword.

And it just feels so right.
Though darkness is behind me,

The moment is now,
An infinite chance.
She steps, and you falter,
Breath caught in your chest.
You don't know what this is
But you know it's the best.
You watch, lost in time,
As the dance starts anew.
Though you're out of her sight,
She dances for you.
The light from without
And the light from within
Grow bright as you watch her
Flow, leap and spin.
Something magical's here
And you know it feels right.
As you watch it's the end
Of your blaze in the night.
