While not technically a poem, it's poetry-related, so I thought I'd put it up here. It's basically me whining for a bit, so pay no attention if you don't want to.
Alright, here's the basic story. I've been thinking of doing a poetry reading for my school's Cabaret. I have a decent speaking voice, so I thought it'd be pretty cool. Then, my friend spoiled it for me. He brought in a CD of Dylan Thomas poetry readings. My plan went kaboom. I wish I could get the same power and passion in my voice as Thomas does, while keeping that sedate dignity. He doess both, somehow. For me, it's one or the other. So, in essence, I'm jealous. Nothing else.
Anyway, if you want to discuss anything about poetry reading, I suppose that's what this'd be for. Tips, your own experiences, etc. etc. One thing I can tell you is to make sure you have some water. It may not seem like it'd dehydrte you, but if you're doing more than three poems at a go, trust me, you need the water. It's pretty thirsty work.
Also, if you have no idea of what Dylan Thomas sound like, here's a link to a reading of "Do Not Go Gentle:" https://anon.salon.speedera.net/anon.salon/mp3s/dylanthomas1.mp3. I really sugest you listen to it, it's great stuff.
