Have any instances existed in any Pokémon media, including games, anime, manga, or whatnot, where Pokémon have died? How long do Pokémon typically live? How come death of Pokémon isn't mentioned more often in such media?

I do remember the episode in the sun and moon anime when the Stoutland Litten was caring for passed away. A sad moment indeed.

"before the player reaches Lavender Town, members of Team Rocket invade the Pokémon Tower and attempt to steal the skulls of Cubone in order to sell them for large amounts of money. One Cubone, however, was protected by its mother. The Cubone escaped, but its mother was killed. As a result, the Marowak's ghost remained in the Pokémon Tower, forbidding access to the topmost floor."
