I'll have to look into this. I just tested it and it seemed to work fine for me. It should still work though if you have her. Which version are you playing on?

I'm playing on whichever version is currently linked to download, I just installed the game last night. But basically I go up to the Sandshrew, talk to it and get it to follow me, go straight down to its trainer and when I chat with her, she accuses me of leaving it behind. Even though it's next to me. Then I get a failed mission message and the Sandshrew disappears. I reloaded the game and tried again like, three times.

Did you save the game before starting the quest entirely, or after starting the quest to find Sandy?
