Pokémon: Apollo

Prologue –
The subtle breeze of wind, which would have been welcomed by many, hit Cliff like a freight train. His eyes snapped open, and a sense of alarm filled his mind. It was a familiar feeling, but it still unnerved him every time it happened. The wind continued to blow across his face, making a faint whistling sound as it flew through the trees.
"I still can't believe the boss has got us doin' a searchin' job this simple. Can't they get some grunt to do it?" grumbled a masculine voice, an obvious sense of boredom in
Cliff froze, keeping his whole body still. The voice seemed to have come from behind, and he had learnt that in times of confusion, it would be best not to be noticed.
"Keep those thoughts to yourself any other time. There are far too many others who would scrape at anything find any reason for you to be stripped of your position for them to take it instead."Replied a much more feminine voice, which was clearly trying to keep the other in line.
It took a few seconds for the daze to wear off, and many of the effects still remained, but Cliff managed to push himself up from the grassy undergrowth, and he stepped slowly, one foot at a time, towards the source of the sound. He pushed down a layer of bushes and ferns, giving him a clear view of the voices, without revealing too much of himself. Two people stood in a clearing in the wood, and his speculations were revealed.
The first was a tank of a man, standing somewhere over 6 foot, and was as thick as a tree. His hair was cut bald, and there was a stern and angry expression on his face. The second was indeed a woman, who was dwarfed by the other. Her hair was a striking red, and was cut to her shoulders. A cold expression was present with her too, although it was more subtle that the man's. However, one thing seemed to unify the two. Both wore seemingly thick black jackets, each adorned with a large red 'R' on the chest. Curious, Cliff leant in closer, still wondering quite what was happening.
Crack
Cliff cursed under his breath as a branch under foot cracked from his weight. The two people spun to the sound, and glared at Cliff violently.
The man chuckled. "We got one that ain't out cold I guess. This should make things a little more interesting."
It was easy to tell that making things 'interesting' wouldn't be of any help to Cliff. The man placed his hand to his pocket, and began to pull out an object. Cliff's first thoughts were that he was going to retrieve a gun, and that the only thing here to do was run like hell. But the man didn't, instead he pulled out a small sphere, about the size of Cliff's wrist. One half of it was a scarlet red, and the other was a crystalline white, with a small button on the centre. Was it some kind of grenade? The man threw it like one, and it exploded in a flurry of golden light.
"Machamp, you up for some fun?" the man joked, although Cliff was oblivious to what he meant.
As the light faded, if slowly formed into a shape. It was tall, much taller than any human, but was of roughly the same build. The light shattered, revealing a behemoth of a creature. Its body was a pale grey, with its four ridiculously long arms flailing in the air.
Cliff turned and ran. He didn't know what that was, but it was easy to tell that whatever it was, it wasn't friendly. "Oh crap, this has to be a dream." He moaned to himself, as he leapt across a fallen log. He heard the gentle thud of footsteps behind him, but didn't turn to see what it was. He knew it was that monster-thing, but this was his only choice. Cliff pushed away a few thin branches while still running, only to hear them snap a few seconds later. What was he supposed to do? Fight it?
"MACH!"
Cliff was slammed to the ground with the force of a freight train, and was instantly winded. He felt a padded hand grab his shoulder, and then flip him over. Much to his fears, it was the creature, who snarled violently. Cliff was flung over the creature's non-existent shoulder, and taken right back to where he began. The sense of helplessness was killing him, but there was nothing he could do.
"Mach~amp..." the creature grumbled as it threw Cliff back onto the floor on his back, and the area was familiar once more.
A light clapping was heard from behind, but sounded too hard to be from the woman. "Congratulations, your hunk of meat caught something." The woman said sarcastically, but here next words were followed by the rhythmic tapping of needles against the forest floor."Parasect, Spore..."
A second later, a cloud of thick green mist wafted over Cliff, and his fears and worries were dampened. A faint sense of peacefulness filled him, and it was moments before he completely lost consciousness.
Story –
This RPG does not begin in the Pokémon world like many others, but instead begins on Earth, the world we live in. To those living there, they know well enough about the wars and disasters that have happened in the recent years. March 2003 brought the war of Iraq, while January 2010 saw the crippling earthquake in Haiti. But despite this, many simply move on, unaffected by the horrifying remains of the rest of the world.
Each and every day something new happens, which often overrules the previous disaster.
You live in this world, and your life is going normal for you, without anything interesting happening. One night, you begin to hear voices, and the sound of movement from nearby.
"... should ... over there. You know ...... what ... hurry."
Confused, and a little worried, you leave the room to investigate. The rest of the house/apartment is dark, which is expected at this time at night. After deducting which room the sound came from, you enter, although you see no-one, and the sound has stopped.
Treating it as you just hearing things, you prepare to head back to sleep, but before you turn the world begins to twist and turn, a sharp ringing screeches throughout the building, causing you to feel nauseous. You eventually topple to the floor, and the world disappears beneath your feet.
Slightly gaining consciousness, you try to look around, but your vision is blurred and distorted. You hear a few voices from afar, but you realise that the sound is moving towards you. You try to gather enough energy to move, and maybe find help, but your body stays limp and lifeless, unable to move. You struggle to stay awake, but it is only a few moments before you give in, and the world once again fades black.
The Plot –
This RPG revolves around one of the people who have experienced this. You awake, and soon found that you have been captured by the nefarious Team Rocket, supposedly as one of their schemes to increase their numbers. Throughout this RPG, there are many outcomes. You can choose to escape the clutches of Team Rocket, and try to fight them, try your best to lose their trace, or even work with them, but your ultimate goal is the one thing on everyone's mind, getting home.
But many adventures will come between, and only you can discover the true reason for your kidnapping, and change the fate of the Hoenn region itself.
Rules –
> No Bunnying of other peoples characters, (Unless you have their permission, of course.)
> On that note, no Godmodding either...
> Stay active! Seriously, an inactive RPG is a dead RPG. If you send me a PM, VM or let me know in the OOC thread (Not present yet) is you need to be gone for a while and be unable to post, and we'll work out what to do.
> When writing a post, and training your Pokémon, the interestingness of the post will determine how well it levels up.
> Catching Pokémon works in a fairly similarly manner. When trying to catch a Pokémon, leave it at throwing the Pokéball. The quality of the post will determine whether you catch it or not, and it will also remotely determine what level it is caught at too.
> Shiny Pokémon will not be catchable in this RPG, and nor will Legendaries.
>When in a specific area, I will note which Pokémon can be caught in the area, and their 'rarity'. Rarer Pokémon are more difficult to catch, and thus requires a more impressive post in order to catch them.
SU template –
Name: First name, last name are required. Middle names and Nicknames are optional.
Gender: Male or female.
Age: Between fourteen and thirty. Team Rocket may have been thwarted by a ten year old, but they wouldn't get a kid to do their job.
Appearance: What does s/he look like? A paragraph is the minimum, but I would much prefer more.
Personality: Are they cheerful? Constantly angry? And whatnot. Please keep it a similar length as the above, a paragraph minimum, although I hope for more.
History: This is the longest section. Remember, you didn't start out life in the Pokémon world, so your early life will be ordinary... probably...
RP sample: Just a taste of your Role-playing skills. Should be a good couple of paragraph, and whether it is from another RP you've been in or one you've made based on this RPG is up to you, I really don't mind.
Starters –
Here are a variety of starters to choose from. You may pick any of the below unless they have already been taken by an accepted player.
![[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo](https://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/228.png)
Species: Houndour
Level: 5
Gender: Female
Ability: FlashFire
Personality: This Houndour is just as territorial and ferocious as any other of its species. She finds it difficult to warm up to anyone, human, Pokémon, anything. Although the one main things that keeps these feelings alive is the fact that this Dark/Fire-type doesn't want to. Fortunately, while she doesn't enjoy working with others, she will do so none the less, using her natural team-work skills to take out any target.
Moveset: Leer, Ember, Howl
![[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo](https://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/79.png)
Species: Slowpoke
Level: 5
Gender: Male
Ability: OwnTempo
Personality: Slowpoke, possibly the signature slackers Pokémon. Possibly only beaten in laziness by Slaking, this Water/Psychic type holds many of the same traits. Often, he can't even be bothered to fight, and would probably suit a more relaxed trainer. Luckily, where he lacks the energy to perform many moves, his limited Psychic abilities can be used as an effective defence mechanism in combat.
Moveset: Curse, Yawn, Tackle, Growl
![[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo](https://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/285.png)
Species: Shroomish
Level: 5
Gender: Male
Ability: EffectSpore
Personality: Shroomish is quite easily the most cheerful of the three starter Pokémon. He is full of energy, and is highly curious, which often leads him to run off, following some sort of trail. This quite clearly leads to troubles, especially if you don't keep a close eye on him. Prepare for this Shroomish to get you into trouble, since he will...
Moveset: Absorb, Tackle
![[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo](https://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/239.png)
Species: Elekid
Level: 5
Gender: Male
Ability: Static
Personality: This Elekid's main issue is its sheer pride. He'll refuse to fight anything that looks too weak to be a decent fight, and even then it would be difficult to get him to listen to your orders. He has the potential to be a powerful fighter, but due to its inability to sense authority in nearly all trainers, it should be a challenge.
Moveset: QuickAttack, Leer
![[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo [PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon: Apollo](https://www.pokestadium.com/pokemon/sprites/handheld/blackwhite/227.png)
Species: Skarmory
Level: 5
Gender: Male
Ability: Keen Eye
Personality: Spectre is very protective of its friends and will often disregard the rules of dueling to fly in to protect others from harm, even if it means putting itself in harm's way. Spectre will not fight without having a good reason to (a silly little badge is not a good reason to Spectre). Also Spectre often gives opponents the choice to surrender when Spectre is confident in his victory… which often allows the opposing pokemon to get in one last good hit it normally wouldn't have had a chance to get in. He will not give this surrender option to pokemon/people that has threatened its friends.
Moveset: Leer, Peck
Extra Notes -
Well, there isn't much to say here, although an OOC thread will be arriving soon enough. Despite the fact that there are 5 starters, only four other RP'rs will be accepted. I shall be taking whichever starter is left. I really don't mind which one...
