Pokémon Broken Spirits is a gen 3-styled fangame made in RPG Maker XP with Pokémon Essentials which follows the protagonist in a character-driven story through a fleshed out alternate Pokémon world. Instead of chasing gyms, the player's journey more closely resembles that of traditional RPGs.
Story
The story revolves around a teenager caught up in grief upon losing everything. Feeling betrayed by their religion they now seek to find meaning and purpose by learning more about ancient mythology to understand how the world truly works. Their quest, however, is opposed by a theocratic tyranny and other forces using the concept of "truth" as a means for control.
