HeartGold hack: Pokémon Chaos Purple Version

You need to get badge 6 and then rock climb hm is found in chartreuse town after a side quest. At this point in the game it's encouraged to explore and talk to as many NPCs as you can.
So I did the side quest and I have rock climb now, but even then there's still no way to progress? I rock climbed down and there's nothing but a hiker who says he's cold or something.

I got to this cave through Route 20, which is past Fuchsia City. I'm aware that there's another way to get to Cinnabar, and it's surfing south from Pallet Town. I tried that way and it's blocked by a Whirlpool. (Don't know if I missed another side quest that involves getting the HM tho).

I'm also aware that the game isn't finished yet, so I'm assuming the Seafoam Islands is as far as we can go. (Excited for when the postgame is available)

Sorry if I seem like such a bother. I just enjoy hacks like these and always want to continue the story. If I'm doing something else wrong please feel free to correct me.

You can fully explore seafoam. There is another rock climb wall to get out of there where the hiker is.

oh right yeah, forgot to remove that in last patch. That's my Debug Boy from when i was testing things. Ignore him :D
Congratulations though, that's the end of current demo!
Oh ok!

Well nice job on the hack so far. :)
Can't wait to see what's next. When the next patch releases, will I be able to continue where I left off? I'd hate to have to restart after coming so far. :p

you will, but there will be a process needed to follow. The next release has a re-shuffle of the item data meaning inventories become scrambled. There will be a fix patch. Firstly you'd load your save using the fix patched rom, go to a pokemon centre and talk to the man in green that will be there. Then save. After that you can load up your save in the actual play patched rom. It will make sense when the patch is out

I THINK I understand. Correct me if I'm wrong:

1. There's going to be two patches, a fix patch, and a patch where we can keep playing.

2. We load our save into the fix patched rom. We go to the Pokemon Center and there will be a green suited man to fix any bag issues, then we save, and export the save file (like on Delta).

3. After that, we load our save into the patch where we can continue where we left off.

If I'm right I hope more people see this when the patch arrives. 😁

pretty much. Only important thing is that each of the 2 patches would be onto a fresh clean rom

Apologies if these questions have been answered, but I didn't see this info in the OP. Can someone who's played the game (or Chvlkie themselves if they have the time) answer these questions?

1. I assume because this is running in HeartGold the Physical/Special split is present, yes?
2. Is there a way to change Natures or their effects (like the Mint items), IVs (like with Bottle Caps,) and EVs (like the Berries, or even better, the Mochis) and if so, how early can you access them?
3. Will we have easy access to Hidden Abilities?
4. Will there by Gym Rematches, Vs. Seeker?
5. Lastly, and maybe most importantly to me, can someone spoil me on the major trainer's final teams? Especially Blue and Green's. I like to make sure when I play that I don't overlap with my rivals lol.

Thanks again to Chvlkie for all of the hard work and update posts!

Ok, I've got just one more question.

Are you planning on adding items to evolve certain Pokémon, such as the Linking Cord? Or are trade evolutions still going to require trading? What about other evolution items?
Probably, but that's a later story, not my main focus right now. And with your other question, if I release the patch now, not much extra story added, it'll essentially just be a background system/stability patch. But if I work a bit more I'll try to at least get Pokémon mansion complete

Just thought I'd put it here, so it's in writing so that people are aware.

I'd seen a couple of YouTube vids playing the demo and describe it in the comments as "Hard Mode"

To avoid confusion - this hack is not made to be a hard mode/difficulty hack. It will be balanced with slight battle improvements but will remain playable by casual players rather than the typical "all trainers have 6 Pokémon and super high IVs" difficulty.

I want the game to be enjoyed for the story and nostalgia rather than making it a super tough hard mode long drawn out battle hack because to me that is not enjoyable.

So for people coming from YouTube expecting a "hard mode" as other people advertise. This is wrong.
I actually really appreciate you for this ngl.

Nowadays the basis for MOST Pokémon hacks is that the difficulty is increased tenfold and that every Pokémon in existence is obtainable. Most don't change much or modify the story in any way, and it's basically just the same Hoenn/Kanto region but with more Pokémon. People think "quality of life" improvements mean each Gym leader has max IV mons and there's 1 billion Pokémon to catch in the wild. People always bring up things like Radical Red when it's literally just the same as other hacks nowadays. (More Pokémon, harder difficulty, mega evo. etc...)

But you actually made something different. Yeah it's just Kanto again, but there's the Gen 5 overworld design, a unique story that better incorporates Mewtwo, and even Red/Green as part of the story as a second rival. Heck, you even added a new town. These are the things I like seeing in a romhack and what I think makes this hack stand out from the rest. This feels like a remake of Gen 1 if it was made in the DS era. It keeps the nostalgia and charm of what the Gen 1 games (and the GBA remakes) had and makes it better.

I just finished the Silph Co. part, and I'm really enjoying the hack so far.
During my playthrough, I came across a few bugs and issues that I'd like to point out:
- After defeating Giovanni, there's still a Rocket Grunt on the 10th floor who does not disappear.
- On my third visit to the Safari Zone, I encountered a strange issue. When I entered the building from Fuchsia City, a dialogue popped up saying that I still had Safari Balls and asking if I wanted to leave. When I selected "Yes," the game froze. After restarting and choosing "No," I was able to enter normally, but this time, I could battle wild Pokémon using my regular party, as if I were on a normal route. Once I left the Safari Zone, everything returned to normal. I'm not sure what triggered this bug.
- There are some issues with the music. Before reaching Vermilion City, the background music for wild and trainer Pokémon battles was the Jotho theme. After Vermilion City, it switched to the Kanto wild and trainer battle themes (I think is similar to how the original HeartGold and SoulSilver handle routes 26, 27, and Victory Road, which also use the Johto themes before you arrive in Vermilion City and then switch to the Kanto ones afterward). However, the Gym Leader battles always use the Johto Gym Leader theme instead of the Kanto one. Also, the trainer encounter themes are sometimes mismatched (For example, a Hicker using the Lass encounter theme).
- In fact, I found a Picnicker in Rock Tunnel using the Hiker sprite.
- There is an unreachable hidden item in Viridian City, near the north exit, as there are some unwalkable grass tiles.
- You can surf across the waterfall in Mt Moon.
- If you use dig, and during the invulnerable turn the opponent Pokémon uses Magnet Rise, it says that you lost all the PPs and you remain stuck in the invulnerable turn without being able to do any action.

I've seen most of this myself besides the last few things lol. The hack is somewhat buggy but it's mainly due to the fact that not only is it still basically a demo, the engine (HG-Engine) the game is made with is still relatively new and there are bugs present here that are also in another hack I played that was made with it. (None of the bugs that you listed here are present in the other hack though).
